Horror The Long Walk

I'm currently reading the book, and I'm really enjoying it. It's dark and thematically rich (and unsettling), but it hasn't been that gory as of right now, especially compared to some of King's more fleshy work. Based on the reactions and one wild shot in the trailer, I wonder if this is going to be the one King adaptation that's actually gorier than the source material. So many of those, particularly older ones, are annoyingly toothless.

Yeah this book is next on my list once I finish the two I’m currently on.

A missed opportunity that Mark Hamill isn't playing a character named Luke Longwalker in this movie. :)

Ouch. A shame because it's supposed to be a really good movie.

I'm surprised because my theater was full on Friday night. I didn't think it would take down The Conjuring in its second weekend but I also didn't think it would be overtaken by Downton Abbey. It also looks like it didn't open in as many theaters as the others.

Been listening on loop. What a debut.

I thought this a solid movie. I’ve got some logistical problems with the concept but this was well acted and directed. And surprisingly i didnt find it nearly as oppressively depressing as i was expecting it to be from everything I heard beforehand.

Just finished the book and it’s very good (bleak as hell but that’s obvious). Looking forward to seeing how it translates to film.

I had a football game on TV the other day while I was reading it and it paralleled what I was reading fairly well. Living in a collapsing, dystopian society while the masses sit around watching what is essentially gladiatorial combat to distract themselves and remain ignorant from observing the freedoms that are disappearing before our eyes.

What a time to be alive.

Saw this yesterday. I liked it, but I think what put it over the top for me was that despite having read the book, the story veers in a very unexpected way, so the ending landed much harder for me than I thought it would. One thing that I appreciate about the movie is how empathetic it is towards its characters, and how empathetic its characters are towards each other. It's refreshing to see characters that actually care about each other, even when they sometimes don't like each other. And the film's two leads, Ray and Pete, are heroic, selfless characters. I think it was a wise decision to take the more compassionate moments from the book, and make that the driving theme of the story.

RIP to the dude who had diarrhea
Normal people: How did they make Elijah Wood look three feet tall next to Ian McKellen in LOTR?

Me: Was that guy really s****ing in The Long Walk? :o

I'm actually genuinely curious how that's done because the only other time I can recall seeing someone graphically dropping a deuce on screen was in the first season of The White Lotus.

Gotta be the best CGI i've seen :o

I mean… of all the things we’ve seen get faked with CGI, I can’t imagine this is that hard to do.
