If Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 went from 1963-2014 how come Vol 2 began in 1999? Shouldn't Vol 1 end before Vol 2 begins?.... also there are so many different spideys (Spectacular, Amazing etc.) Are they all in the same universe? Because I know Ultimate Spider-Man (Peter not Miles) is different because Gwen is still alive in that but is Spectacular Spider-Man Peter Parker the same as Amazing Spider-Man Peter Parker. I'm really confused lol.

They end the first volume, start a new volume with a number 1, once they reach what sums up in two or more volumes to a centennial landmark issue, they merge them together and continue the count.
Amazing Spider-Man vol 1 ended at issue 441 in 1998, then Amazing Spider-Man volume 2 continued for 58 issues, that's a total of 499 issues, and they wanted to celebrate issue 500, so they merged the two volumes together and recounted from 500.

But when it comes to titles like The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America 600th issues they got more complicated with that.
Hulk had 6 issues of The Incredible Hulk, then they moved him to Tales to Astonish, they stopped that series and started a new volume for The Incredible Hulk and continued numbering it where that series ended.
