holy ****, this film looks breathtaking. Peter Jackson is one of my favs, ill be there opening day, and now I feel like reading the book

I was definitely getting a Heavenly Creatures vibe just from the trailer. I really can't wait to see the heaven sequences - they seem even better than in the book.

Ha ha! That's exactly what I was thinking! The movie looks like it could be very good, but King Kong left a bad taste in my mouth. Let's see if Peter Jackson can bounce back.

And was I the only one who found his monologue before the trailer on Apple.com a bit... creepy, to say the least? The fact that he looks like Gollum certainly doesn't help.

King Kong would have been a modern classic if it were an hour shorter. Sequences like the spider-pit were unnecessary and were more like pieces of film scholarship than pieces of the story. And I say this whilst owning the movie and loving it dearly.

Anywho, I'm reading the book currently and it's amazing. PJ, I think, is the perfect person to bring it to the screen and I can't wait to see the movie.

Never read the book,just heard of the name and saw the trailer now.
The premise sounds cool,but this looks and sounds like a p.o.s for the pg rowd,over acted and over sentimental. I'll definantly pass on this movie,maybe Avatar will be impressive to me if I stop seeing simplistic and uninspiring pics of creatures from it popping up,and once a damn trailer for it comes out.

Kong is one of the best films I've seen, I love it more than the first two LOTR films and I think about five minutes of it is all that should've been cut...and the bug pit scene isn't part of that.

Anyways, the afterlife shots are stunning, looks like a very unique drama. Should be one of the best films of the year.

I'm still looking forward to the movie PJ is executive producing this year more though.

True it deals with rape and murder,but at the same time this movie to me visually and tone wise comes off as something for the PG crowd.
Which makes the translation of this movie terrible imo,it doesn't mesh.

Susie Salmon IS a kid when she dies, which is why theres a childlike quality to the visuals in Heaven.

I'm iffy on the tone, though. I agree that there's something off about it per the trailer. This should not be an action movie, or a thriller, really, and it's a drama, not a melodrama. I'm feeling a melodramatic overtone to all this, and elements of it are borderline cheesy. I was hoping he'd reign himself in just a bit more. We'll see. It may be how the trailer is cut.

I definitely think it's how the trailer is cut. They're trying to make it seem exciting to get butts in the seats.

I haven't read the Lovely Bones yet but the movie looks fantastic! The scenes in heaven are so beautiful and, as others have pointed out, very reminiscent of What Dreams May Come.
