One of the most interesting and long running conversations about the X-Men movies I’ve had over the years, were about what was behind all those doors in the lower level corridor. Most people, including myself, are getting confused as to which room is where. I have made a blueprint of the top secret basement so that we can be clear. I have included some pics of the rooms and also added screencaps from X3. It’s seems now after further viewing of the teaser, that the rooms may have changed. The information on the blueprint was based on what we’ve seen so far in both films, concept art and behind the scenes footage. It’s obviously not to scale so bear that in mind...

Each of the rooms is numbered from 1-9.

R1: ELEVATOR

R2: UNKOWN
r2unknown6ws.jpg

It has never been revealed yet as to what is in this room. It could be anything from a flight simulator, a gymnasium, an indoor pool or Xavier’s secret spanking room.

R3: CEREBRO
r3cerebro5fy.jpg

A machine that helps amplify Xavier’s powers to locate mutants all over the world. Unlike in the comics, Cerebro is not a computer that automatically detects mutant activity.
In X3: It has been said that Cerebro will not be in the film. Largely due to the fact that Stryker jacked it in X2 and possibly because Xavier is afraid to go anywhere near it. What do you suppose they will use it for?

R4: CONTROL ROOM
r4controlroom1xp.jpg

It is the room that controls and monitors the Danger Room. The location has not been confirmed but it would seem logical for it to be adjacent to the Danger Room...

R5: DANGER ROOM
r5dangerroom7iz.jpg

r5dangerroom023cv.jpg

The Danger Room has never been shown on film. According to the picture above, the room is located parallel to the elevator and the words ‘DANGER’ appear on the door.
In X3: The Danger Room will finally make it’s debut. However, the location of the room might have changed....
035nl.jpg

Some have speculated that the door opening up is in fact the Danger Room because The X-Men are shown walking down the corridor immediately after...

^Now, trailers are always edited out of order so it doesn’t necessarily mean that that is in fact the Danger Room. We’ll come back to that pic later on.

R6: WAR ROOM
r6warroom2lh.jpg

The location of this room is still unclear but it makes sense for it to be right across from the Ready Room and the Hanger. By the way, does anyone know what that table is called?

R7: INFIRMARY & LAB
r7infirmary1cm.jpg

This is probably, the most important room in the mansion.
In X3: It appears that this room has been moved. Hopefully, it is not a continuity error on the filmmaker’s part.

^It’s obvious now that the infirmary is located on the side. My theory is that the X-Men moved the infirmary to R8/R9 and moved(or built a new) Danger Room in R7. It would explain where they are headed in this pic...
047gv.jpg

^and notice that Logan is pointing to R8/R9. It’s possible that Storm is explaining to him about the move.

R8: READY ROOM
r8readyroom1fc.jpg

Who could forget that memorable image of Wolverine stumbling upon the X-uniforms?
Unfortunately, it appears that the X2 production designer, Guy Dyas changed the layout of X1’s John Myhre’s original design and omitted the Ready Room from X2, which pretty much means that it will not be in X3.

R9: JET HANGER
r9hanger3kl.jpg

In X3: It’s clear now that the Infirmary is now where the Hanger used to be. It’s possible that they moved the Hanger to R5. But does that mean they moved the basketball court too?

Obviously, the X3 teaser has really confused us. We’ll just have to wait until the next trailer or better yet the film. But I hope all this at least clears somes things up.

Wow. Great work Neto. I think each production designer has slightly alterd the lower levels. It's not something you'd notice immediatly though.

I'll post some more shots of the lower levels.

That's better than the one I seen, Good stuff Neto

I understand that a PD is going to make some changes but it doesn't flow continuity wise.

and thanks, I apprieciate that.

I think for the most part, casual viewers are not gonna care about something like this being changed. :o

Nowwwww, if suddenly Storm was white, Jean was asian, and Jubilee was the leader of the X-Men, yeah. :o

I dont care whats behind what door, apart from Cerebro. Aslong as we get to see all of whats downstairs!

If audience don't notice it. They will always make slight changes. It's not right but's okay.

INTERESTING X-TRIVIA (I just found this out recently on the site of Spider-Man concept artist Warren Manser) - X3 Production Designer Ed Verreaux actually was given one of his first major jobs on X-Men by Bryan Singer. He was only on board for a couple months though.
Singer had to let him go cause the project had stalled. John Myhre then took Verreaux's place when it started back.

Wow - I love this thread

Good analysis guys - esp Neto

Great thread idea Neto. People were starting to get confused about the lower levels in the photo album thread.

thanks guys, this thread was needed.

btw, I was watching X-Men again and I noticed that Xavier says to Logan, "The lower levels however, are an entirely different matter". He said "levels" as in plural. Is it possible that there are more sub-levels?

Neto, if you look in the 'Art of X2' you'll see some concept art of the Helicopter pad that's located behind the Mansion. It looks like a secret underground path leads to it.

Xavier could also be reffering to the underground excape routes.

Also - The new jet is about 3 times the size of the last one. Surely it must take off at another secret level?

lol, you have that book too?

I think you're right, I forgot about the secret tunnels.

Stryker did say it came up the bball court and I don't think there was supposed to be a different jet in the movieverse. Just a bigger budget.

Yup i sure do.
I don't think they filmed a scene where we see the heli pad.

Forgot about the satellite photo. Thanks for refreshing my memory.:)

great job neto! concerning the unknown room, if you guys remember in x-men legends there was a room next to cerebro the was used to hold people (ex. toad). It was complete with a cell, computer, ect. So maybe its possible the room is a holding room?

Correct me if im wrong but the only door in the sub basement that is silver is cebrebro right, all the others are blue.So in the trailer the first shot of the x-men walking down they are across from it.So according to Neto's blueprints they should be headed to the infirmary.
P.S really great job Neto

It looks like the door that is opening in the trailer according to those blueprints, is the door of R4 the Control Room. Maybe Professer X going in or out of it.
