A few years ago I was an advocate of using the streak to make a new star, and had it been done earlier on then that might have worked. However WWE have built it into such a big deal that I think if it ends then it's used to create the greatest Mania moment since Hogan vs Andre, not to give a guy with a year or two in the business the rub.
As The Batman says you could well throw it away as you don't know who will last, and on top of that I think it could be more of a curse than a blessing, fans are unpredictable and they may well resent some new comer beating an icon, the win could become a millstone around that guys neck.
Edge could have been the guy that straddled both options, he was a main event guy and multi-time Champion, but ending the streak would have taken him to a new level, however he would have been finished 3 years later. Some made the same argument for Batista the year before but listen to the crowd during that match, they did not want Batista to be the guy, he simply was never over enough, just like Sheamus isn't and never will be.
I think the crowd would have accepted Punk ending it but it wasn't the right circumstances for that to happen, and I think if HBK had ended it at Mania 25 the fans would have loved it as in many ways Shawn deserved that moment. At this point I think and feel that it should be Cena, or nobody.
Setting up the potential Elimination Chamber match?.....In which case does Taker win the Rumble?![]()
Is Rey Mysterio injured yet again?,I haven't seen him on Raw or Smackdown since the December 16th Raw Episode
There is only one man fit to end the streak.

You raise a good argument here, Hunter. And then with CM Punk occasionally talking about retiring in a few years, him ending the Streak could have been a waste.
Honestly, I just want some new stars made and for them to have their Wrestlemania moments.![]()
Hogan vs Taker wasn't good in the early 90's nor in 2002 and so I doubt even a brawl between them in 2014 would be decent
I'm watching the most recent Raw, and I can smell the body odor and funk coming off of Luke Harper from my bedroom thru the TV.
It would have to be very, very gimmicky.
With Los Matadores, Hornswoggle, Great Khali and Santino all in the WWE at the same time, I am surprised that the WWE didn't do some sort of asinine segment where they all do the YMCA.
Just thinking about this as I was watching Despicable Me 2 on DVD.

Shouldn't the ending of The Streak focus on some sort of supernatural humbuggery? I mean, that's been Taker's whole schtick from Day One, that his power is supernatural in origin. It shouldn't just be a really good veteran fighter, or the flavor of the month, or the underdog everyone roots for. Taker's defeat shouldn't be based on skill or popularity, because it makes Taker look weak.
That's why I'd look for a supernatural/demonic angle to work into the story. Seems that Bryan, Kane, and the Wyatt saga point towards that...
I feel like the perfect person to end the streak is gone, and will never wrestle again.
That man is Edge.
It would have to be very, very gimmicky.
that's not a bad set up . I won't complain if Bryan ends the streak. This is never going to happen..... But my head went wandering the other day, and I came up with this idea.....
PS, I'll spoiler tag it cos it's a long post. Appreciate if not everyone wants to read it!
Imagine Bryan getting screwed again at the Rumble or Elimination Chamber (I'm ignoring the Wyatt angle here, like I said, this was just in my head!). With no match set for the Undertaker yet (no promo's etc up until that point) Bryan has a promo after a PPV. He tells the WWE Universe and the Authority, that no matter what happens, he'll be screwed out of a belt time and time again. He'll never win while they're there. He talks about what's best for business, and that in the eyes of the Authority, no matter what he wins, or how the WWE Universe feel and how loud they chant, he'll never be accepted by the Authority. So he says he'll try a different angle. He tells them that he'll take away from them the only other thing that's best for business - the Streak. He tells the Undertaker he has no problem with him, and he respects him. But the Authority keep taking everything from him, so he's going to return the favour. He says he knows the Undertaker is a man of honour, and would not allow the Authority to jeopardise the Streak with a screwjob. He states - he wants a match against the Undertaker at WrestleMania for the Streak, and he wants Undertaker's response. He reiterates; it's nothing personal - it's just business.
The bells sound and sure enough out comes Taker. Once in the ring, he tells Daniel he's been watching, and he likes him. He's taken a lot of hell from the Authority, but he's still standing - he likes that. But he tells Bryan that he fights people for the streak who fight for themselves. Bryan would be fighting to win the streak just to get back at the Authority, and that's not right by him. So Taker declines the match.
Triple H's music hits and he comes out.
He gets in the ring and tells Taker he's made the right choice, and that it's beneath him to get involved with Daniel Bryan and everything that's happening. Undertaker tells him to shut up. It's nothing to do with Trips. Bryan called him out, and he's responding.
Bryan points out to Taker that Triple H is glad he turned down the fight. Because Trips doesn't believe Taker can beat Daniel. That's why he came out to discourage Taker from the fight.
Have Bryan tell Taker that maybe, Taker doesn't believe he can beat him, and that if the Undertaker likes to fight guys who fight for themselves, maybe Undertaker should be that guy (and fight for himself), and fight Daniel Bryan to prove he can beat him.
Triple H steps in, again Taker calls him off. Taker accepts the match with Triple H looking concerned about the end of the streak. Bryan shakes hands with Taker and gives a grin to Triple H, before walking off up the ramp.
The match itself? Daniel Bryan wins. Being a submission specialist, perhaps it'd be cool if Bryan wins by applying the Hells Gate hold to Taker, and thus it's past down to Daniel who uses it from now on.
Bryan beats the Authority, ends the streak, and then begins the quest back to the title with the uber push from the win.
Thoughts?
