Mysterio?
Who is the Gentleman?

Gustav Fiers, a.k.a. 'The Gentleman':

I think it's mysterio..No other villians in Spidey gallery can pull that off except Mysterio but that said the appearance is like The Gentleman..

So I think it will be revealed as Chameleon+Mysterio+The Gentleman all in one..

Think about it. Chameleon can change into any person..Mysterio can use illusions..

Combine them into one and make that person appear like The Gentleman...

IMO,that would be a masterstroke of a move by Webb..

But of course, there is the overlooked fact that he DIDN'T ACTUALLY PHASE INTO THE ROOM AND PHASE OUT.

It was just a simple jump cut effect intended to create atmosphere.

Now if he were to do that in ASM2, then MAYBE I could buy into that theory.

But until further proven, it should be seen for what it is: An editing trick.

Nothing more.

"We'll" is referring to the group at Oscorp that's planning everything around Peter. "We'll" being the same people who have been surveillancing Peter since he was a child. I wouldn't look into the "we" thing too much.

The same reason you force a character from a comic into a movie.

Why force a character from a Novel into a movie?
I never found the novels

You really just want to hate these movies, don't you? Why is it "forced" if they are using a character, let alone a great one, from the novels? Its not like they shoehorned him into the script last minute… oh hey, they did that with Venom in SM3. A comic book character.

Hate? I'm bound to love almost all comic book movies (Man-Thing and Howard the Duck are notable exceptions)
It's just $#%^, I never found the Novel, gah, they add a character I never heard of
I don't try to find reasons to hate, I just say what I don't like, cause what I don't like I don't like

Okay, but I don't understand why using a novel exclusive characters is forced?

He appeared in those novels, but they are canon with the comics.

Also, I doubt that the TMITS is the Gentlemen flat out, but rather just borrows HEAVILY from his backstory and overall character.

I have this really weird feeling The Man in the Shadows is Richard Parker.

I had a friend suggest it was a dying Uncle Ben and that realllllly made my thinking gears turn. No way it's possible though lol.

my very first thought was norman osborn when i saw the end credit scene in ams. but it seems to be the gentleman instead.

Same here. Why would Marc bring up "The Gentleman" in an interview? Gotta be him.

A robot version of him maybe :oldrazz:

If the man in the shadows was Richard Parker, why would he be played by Michael Masse?

wait isnt michael massee the one in the plane scene and the other is richard parker?(forgot actors name)

Plot twist: MJ is the man in the shadows.

End credits scene: We'll leave him alone for now... Tiger just doesn't know he's hit the jackpot yet.

Peter Parker from the year 2099 is the guy in the shadow

I hope they don't do anything that stupid in Spider-Man movies, not really fond of time travel stories, although I like certain some of them

@HUMANANIMAL: Campbell Scott is the name of Richard Parker's actor

ah thanks...and are those two in the plane scene, yes or no?
