The Chicago Tribune spoke to Thor screenwriter Mark Protosevich about the big screen adaptation:

"That project is as much a passion project for me as 'I Am Legend,'" he said. "I was a comic book kid. Thor was my absolute favorite."

Once the writers' strike is over, production can start and Protosevich says audiences will be "pleasantly surprised" by this interpretation of the character. It's much more rooted in the Norse roots of the character, he says.

"There used to be a segment in the Thor comics called 'Tales of Asgard' -- and it's much more akin to that," he said. "It really is set in that world. It does deal with Earth. The primary focus we're taking on it is really all about the Norse myths."

I could swear just a few months ago Mark said this wasn't about Norse myths but after I read the script it clearly was. It's cool he's saying production can start beause that must mean the script/budget issues are cleared up.

I have the first issue of Tales of Asgard from the 80's. Think I may re-read that to get an idea of what he is talking about.

Do u wish he was doing it the other way?

No. I loved the script. It was 100% awesome so no I'm happy with it.

Probably a bit of both myth and Comic AD.
I KNEW he was basing the kind of Story on Tales of Asgard, it reads the same way.

I wish this damn strike would clear up. It's annoying now. It's BS the writers strike effects so many people and their jobs too. It should be isolated otherwise it's blackmail.

Well there was something on the news about the Strike and aomething about a court getting involved, but I missed the news cast.

I don't know Mark Protosevich that much other than Poseidon and the cell which was ok movies. In about 1h20 minutes I ll see what he is really about cause I m gonna check his movie '' I am legend'' on Imax. Better be good... Then I ll able to see if he can do a good Thor movie. :o

Marvel should've forced him done with the script long ago. He has like 2 years in advance to write it, maybe more.

The writer strike should give Marvel a lesson or two in planning in advance and focus on what's important instead of thinking of too many projects. Black Widow? Luke Cage? Better finish on that Captain America & Thor scripts first.

I wish we at least had like a cast list or something...they need to get the show on the road.

MV wants to film in the UK so expect a non-American cast. I don't mind by the way, but after watching a couple of European films over the last few years, they have some really tall dudes so Thor shouldn't be too hard to cast if they look at actors from Germany, Sweden or Russia.

Just because it may be filmed in the UK doesn't mean the cast will all be British. Aeroplanes exist.

Actually European Thor would be great and even better than American Thor. Ideally, Thor would be Scandinavian looking so I bet alot of Mainland Euro or Brit actors could fill the part.

It's European Captain American that I have a problem with. And that's only for the titular part and the 1st actor to act as Cap (ergo, for the sequels I could care less).

Thank GOD they're paying respect to THOR in staying as true as possible to the real myth, making it "authentic" instead of a cheesy primary-colored superhero.
I still believe THOR and co should be portrayed as the "superheroes" of the middle-ages.

I see THOR more as Lord of the Rings than Captain America if you have to compare.

LOL!

Anyway, I think the more non-american actors movies can use the better. More movies should try and scout and use great talent that exist in other countries. I believe 300 is a commendable enough example of this.

Now I saw I am legend and...hum! no can do for Mr Mark Protosevich. I mean the guy did a resident evil in slow motion. It was simply boring thanks for Will for is good acting skills . They should call Ridley Scott for Thor!

^ Mark Protosevich is a script writer, not the director. Matthew Vaughn is the director.

I'm nervous! I am Legen was a ok movie, nothing like the book or graphic novel though

Why the complaints about I Am Legend? It was better than the vast majority of the movies that are hyped on this site.

Woops! you re right but still it doesn't look good with his I am legend script.

No, directors have far more to do with the end quality of a film than the writer, and often writers will have to even dumb things down or write something that intentionally isn't very good because it's what happens to coincide with the studio and/or director's vision of the film.

Just look at the writer for Shawshank Redemption, It's considered one of the best films of all time, yet the writer has a very large range of 4.3 - 9.2 on IMDB with 16 writing credits, the writer of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest ranges from 5.75 - 8.8, the writer for Rear Window has a similar range. I Am Legend, by the way, has a much higher score than any of those films in the lower ranges.

What matters is that they have a good director to tie everything together, which they do here.
