The MARVEL characters REDESIGN thread

Status
Not open for further replies.
Some of my first DC + Marvel drawings, back when I wasn't necissarily combining characters that make sence (like Batman and Spider-Man or Green Lantern + Silver Surfer) I was just combining characters that would have interesting outcomes. (But there was a little of me trying to make sence, I just made better choices later.)

Martian Manhunter + Vision = Vision Manhunter
amalgamVisionManhunter1.jpg

amalgamVisionManhunter2.jpg

(I drew this using a picture from a Martian Manhunter comic.)
I actually still like this one, but I might change it a bit. Here is his story,
[possibly] Created by Ultra-Brainiac (Brainiac + Ultron) as a tool to destroy mankind, Vision Manhunter faced off against the Avenging League of America (JLA + Avengers = ALA). He eventually grew to reject his programming and learned human emotions, posibly after a brain pattern copying of one of the ALA. Vision who chose to name himself Jonn Jonnz, a martian name, became a member of the ALA.
Vision Manhunter is all that was left of the Martian beings and their culture after Ultra-Brainiac came to Mars (on his way to Earth) and destroyed it.
Perhap Jonn Jonnz is actually the brain pattern of Vision copied (a Martian from Mars who was able to copy his mind onto some of Ultra-Brainiac's technology before dying.
I might come up with a better story later.

Ultra-Brainiac's story is a little more complex and will be told later.

I know I didn't make this one up, but I thought I would draw it anyway.
Its Bruce Wayne, Agent of SHIELD. And what I thought he might look like.
amalgamBruceWayne.jpg

He has a buzzed head, and scars and looks like he has been through a ton. Also I was playing with the idea that he would put on disguises like a Thor costume (who at the time I was combining with Captain Marvel).

This is Night Devil and Elektra Batgirl (never came up with a name)
Nightwing + Daredevil and Batgirl + Elektra
AmalgamNiteDevilandElektraBatGirl.jpg

This was going off of Batman + Wolverine. But in my version of Amalgam I merged Batmand and Spider-Man.
I should mention that I do not care for this drawing and these versions of the characters I created. I have also since merged Dr. Midnite with Daredevil.

Here is something more new. More now.
Doom Patrol + Fantastic Four = Doomed Four, or Fantastic Patrol
Actually I sort of like that Fantastic Patrol. Maybe its Fantastic Patrol Four or Fantastic Patrol 4. I don't know, you tell me.
DCplusMarvel_FantasticPatrolFour1.jpg

Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, Ben Grimm, and Victor Von Caulder stole an experimental rocket to examine one of Reed’s findings (like in the FF origin). The five were hit by cosmic rays and sent plummeting to Earth.
They quickly discovered that they each had amazing new powers.
Reed could grow or shrink to any size and with enough effort maybe even stretch his body. Sue found she had very powerful telekinetic powers. Johnny found he could leave his physical body, and fly around as a body made of pure negative energy. But two of their crew wasn’t so lucky. Victor was paralyzed from waist down and Ben Grimm seemed to be dead.
On further expectation Reed found that Ben’s brain was still alive. The four took Ben’s body back to Reed and Victor’s lab. Luckily Victor was a genius in robotics. Victor was able to put Ben’s brain into a robot body. This lead to Ben being depressed all the time, he was now trapped inside this robot shell while the others looked normal or/and had powers.
Still, when Dr. Victor Caulder came up with the idea of using their powers to help mankind Ben agreed to join.
The five called themselves Fantastic Patrol.
Reed took the name Elasti-Man, Sue called herself Menta, Johnny called himself Human Negative or Negative Torch or Negative Man, and Ben took the name RobotMan. And Dr. Caulder took to calling himself The Chief.
But over time Victor grew more and more jealous and resentful of the others, even Ben Grimm had powers and got respect and praise from the public. (Really Victor had always been a jealous and resentful person, even secretly hating Reed at times.) While everything seemed fine and dandy on the outside, inside there were lots of fights, almost always between Victor and someone else. One the night that Victor found out that Reed and Sue were dating now there was a giant fight where everything blew up and got out in the open. Victor told everyone how he really felt, later that evening Victor quite the team and left the Patrol Tower forever.
The four remaining team members continued on. They became even closer and more of a family after Victor left too. They worked with the Government from time to time. And Ben even met a woman named Alicia who made him feel happy to be alive no matter what the conditions were.
In a storyarc titled "Doomed Patrol" the team fought a very dangerous man, a Dr. Doom. The team soon discovered that Doom was actually Caulder. He had created a highly advanced cybernetic suit of armor that gave him the ability to walk. He also could blast energy beams from his hands and had super strength that match Ben’s strength from the robot body.
So now we have our heroes The Fantastic Patrol, and we have our villain the former hero Dr. Doom.

Looks good. I wouldn't mind seeing what it might look like if it had the alternating white and red in the midsection. But it's looking pretty sweet

Great idea, I actually considered doing that.

and then here it is again, this time as a doodle I did on the side of my paper along with Baron Zemo as the Pheonix.

Here is Slapstick (thats his name right?), this is a redesign of his character to make him better suited for Marvel today or for ultimate Marvel. This would be a dark graphic noval idea.
madcap-1.jpg

Its the story of a man who thinks he is a cartoon. He is severaly mentally unstable and sees himself as a heroic cartoon character named Slapstick. He lives in a cartoon city which he has sworn to protect.
In his mind he is a zany slapstick cartoon hero who saves the day with mallets and anvils. In reality he is a very dangerous man who has just killed two people with a real and heavy sledge hammer.
Slapstick (in reality) is about 25-35. He has grown out hair which he cuts himself and has dyed it pink.
To make himself more of a cartoon he has even cut off the middle fingers of both hands, and customized white gloves, in order to have only four fingers.
The story actually starts with Slapstick in a maximum security type mental institution for the criminally insane. We get the full story of how he got there (the two murders) through flashbacks. We also cut between reality (a dark and scary world, almost like a horror film) and Slapstick's world (a bright and colorful beautifully painted and happy cartoon world).
An evil plot unfolds while Slapstick is there, something very sinister like experimenting on patients or a murder plot. Slapstick finds out about it (but he sees it as a big and epic evil, like a disney villain. Something that will destroy the land and bring darkness). He has to stop it but he is the only one who knows about it so no one belives him. They just think its another dillussion. Once the bad people find out Slapstick knows he becomes the fall guy.
How can Slapstick save the day when everyone thinks he is crazy and, even worse, responcible?
All the while we cut to flash backs and see the murders Slapstick has committed and maybe even further back we see what drove him to this state, and we cut to his fantasy cartoon world where he bounces around as his cartoon self.
The reader should even, maybe, question Slapstick's credibility. And start thinking that maybe he didn't really see that and maybe he is behind it all.
But of coarse in the end Slapstick should somehow save the day.

Here is more on DC + Marvel's Dr. Doom,
DrDooM.jpg

real name: Dr. Victor Niles Caulder
aliases: The Cheif, Dr. Doom.
powers: None, but he does have a genious level intellegence, is an expert in robotics and cybernetics, and a genious level strategist.
note: Although Caulder was in the ship when it was hit with cosmic rays he was the only one who didn't gain powers, instead he was paralysed by the crash. He was with his friends on the Patrol for about two-three years before he got fed up with the team. After leaving the Fantastic Patrol Caulder finally perfected a cybernetic suit that would allow him to walk again. But the anger, hate, and jealousy, inside him turned him to the darkside (this also drove him out of the Patrol). Using his new armor Caulder re-emerged about a year or 1/2 a year later as the villianous Dr. Doom.
make no mistake though, without the suit of armor Caulder is still paralysed and would not be able to walk.

Here is another idea, What If Spider-Man had become a vampire.
(I did this in high school too) (its a little tracing using a plastic folder cover and a little drawing by me.)

(no tracing here)

more to come later.:yay:

I think the character you're talking about is Slapstick, he's currently in the Avengers Initiative comic

slapstick1.jpg

Yes, exactly. That is exactly who I meant.
I always mix those two's names up. Thought I finally got it.

Ok,so I have fixed it.

Hello people. I´m doing some redesigns in DC´s Characters redesign thread, but i make that "TASKMASTER" down here.

Post your opinions. Tkanks and Kisses!

It looks a little cartoony to be the Taskmaster, but I do like the overall design. If the proportions were a bit closer to human, I would love it.

I WANT THAT SLAPSTICK STORY!

Of course, they'd have to do it out of continuity so all (All = a couple dozen) of regular Slapstick's fans wouldn't get upset. Hey, I like regular Slapstick but I want to see this story.

With a couple name changes it could be a really killer movie as well.

The big T on his chest makes me laugh, and I miss his hood (he reminds me of a Power Ranger with just the helmet), but it's still an awesome redesign.

I am very pleased that you like my Slapstick story idea, I always imagined it being an alternate out of continuity story, like an Ultimate story or a Marvel MAX story.
What do you mean about name changes? Did I miss changing some of the Madcaps to Slapsticks?

Naw I'm just saying it could easily be made into a movie having nothing to do with the Marvel character if you just changed the names and it was a movie about a murderer who thought he was a cartoon character.

Oh, WOW, thanks. Thats really cool of you to say that.
I wanted to go for a Arkaham Ayslum (spelling) feel to the creepy parts, but a saturday morning cartoon with Disney level quality for his fantasy world.

Glad you like it. If only I could find someone to flesh out the script, giving me final aproval over every part of it.

Love the fantastic patrol and slapstick story ideasP:up:

Just added this to my 'fanart' thread... thought I'd post here as well... Not so much a 'redesign'... more of a costume tweak.

I love JG and Elektra, and although the movie was pretty lame, by far the worst thing was the red outfit... hated it.

Yeah, the slapstick story idea is great. The character has always been a bit of an anomaly and this would be a great way to modernize him. Maybe for the ultimate version of the character.

OK,
So here is my entry for this month.
a comic page:
contestidea3SemiFinal.jpg

Its every character, minus one or two, that I have drawn or posted story ideas about.
(Check back throughout my thread, you can even search using Fantastic Four, and you'll recognize some of the characters.)
In what is perhaps the last battle with Dr. Doom.

Here is each panel, a little larger:

Hope you guys like it.

The characters, most, were my designs for different versions of the FF.
