The MARVEL characters REDESIGN thread

Is that about my Victor Creed? If it is, then thank you. Thank you very much. I am glad you liked it.

I really, really like those ideas.

You should do days of future past-esque designs for your characters.

PeterColossusDaysofFuturePast.png

Here Peter Rasputin (spelling?) in his Mutant Prison Camp uniform, with the power blocking collars, and then in his uniform without the collar using his powers.
All the mutants in the camp wear the same greenish jump suits with the M on it. They also all wear the same black shoes and power stopping collars.
In this idea the mutants are branded with an M on their right eye, with a bar code on their arm, and then their head is shaved.
Then I have Peter once he is rescued from the Camp, wearing new clothes, including his very old X-Men uniform shirt.
Next is Peter in the new X-Men uniform (if the show were to show him after his rescue), here the X-Men are sort of like a rebel army, so they dress like it.
(And if all went to plan and the X-Men stopped the camps and saved the day) Here is Peter after some time, his hair has grown back.
(Perhaps Peter and a few of the former X-Men were able to escape.
They became a band of rebels, and even started wearing a new X-Uniform. Bishop became one of those rebels, and was sent back by Peter and the others during a large and most likely tragic battle.

Here is Logan, from this Days of Future Past storyline.
My thinking here, without have read the actual Days of Future Past story, is that Logan was able to escape the Camps because of his mutant healing and claws. He used his claws to break off the collar and escaped. He has been slowly building a rebellion and freeing some mutants here and there. It is he who starts the X-Rebels called the "X-Men" in honor of the late Professor Xavier.
Logan wears an old leather bomber jacket, old jeans, and an old turtleneck. He also wear his very old (and maybe rusted) Xavier Institute belt buckle to honor his former school and former mentor Charles Xavier.
Bishop was in the Camp, and became one of Logan's rebels. (I still like the X-Men cartoon's idea of Bishop being a former traitor, used by the Sentinels to track and capture other mutants.)
He is sent during an attack.

Here is Sebastian Shaw of the Hellfire Club, maybe from Season Four or maybe since Season Four is about the time travel and future stuff the Hellfire Club could show up in Season Five. (Or maybe make an appearance in Season Four and reappear in Season Five as a bigger threat.)

He is pictured here next to how he looked in the comics for comparison.
The idea is that the Hellfire Club is like the Stone Cutters or something. It is an organization made of some very powerful and wealthy mutants. They get together and dress in old fashion clothing and wear wigs and fake side burns. (should their wigs be old fashioned powdered gray wigs?)
When they aren't at the Hellfire Club they have jobs and lives. But they are all very wealthy and/or influential.
Their goals would be similar if not the same as the comics.
I could design more, like White Queen or their guards.

what about a stealth suit iron man that looks like a ninja fused with a f-22 raptor

Is that something you are designing?

I finished another Hellfire Club member from Season Four (or Season Five, not sure):

Again, the idea is that she is a very successful business woman, and a member of the Hellfire Club. While at the Hellfire Club the men dress in old fashioned clothing and the woman as well, from the time period that the original Hellfire Club was founded I guess.
I posted her original costume for comparison and contrast.

its not just that... but when does emma wear anything that doesnt have some form of sex appeal? and she would totally wear a WHITE suit over a blue one any day.

The idea was that, in my Xavier School series, the Hellfire Club is like a Secret Club.
In the real world they are important, wealthy, and powerful people. In the real world they dress in suits and ties, business appropriate with power suits ans such. At the Hellfire Club they have a dress code. The men and woman have to wear clothing from that time period.
I am not saying that Emma should wear that, I was just trying to get my idea across.
Show that during the day she wears one set of clothing for business and another for the Hellfire Club.
(I had to make that, so it wasn't like I could pick and choose)
I based her costume design off of this:

English Noblewomen, rich and powerful women.

But I have to admit I am not a huge fan of hers, or know much about her.
Also I thought her original comic costume, or all the female costumes from the Hellfire Club, would be too much for TV being underwear and all.

How would you change it, keeping in mind the idea of a dress code for the Hellfire Club?

i get that, but emma frost in no way would wear that... which is my point. it's way too much for her.

So, in your opinion, how would you design her Hellfire costume to fit the idea?

they style would be Victorian, definately. but part of the whole hellfire club is that of sex appeal, i believe if im not mistaken part of the hellfire club was a brothel as well.

Emma Frost would def show cleavage... i'd honestly put her in something like this
http://www.enchantedelysia.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/effinal-copy.jpg
but probably give her some form of white tight pants instead of what appears to be underwear. She'd def have cleavage showing in a corset though.

so you would "redesign" her into her exact old uniform? creative

Hey Sean, How about something like this for Emma?

just a quick sketch.

emmaeh7.jpg

She looks like a Victorian era prostitute. Emma's attire has sex appeal, but I prefer it when it also shows a certain amount of self respect. Her current costume is perfect: Showy yet respectable about it.

Well, good to know i hit my mark. That's exactly what I was going for.

Her current costume is great, but doesn't work with what Sean is trying to do.

I understand that the Hellfire Club is meant to based on the Avengers episode, "A Touch of Brimstone" and that the female costumes are based on Emma Peal's costume in that episode (Wikipeida)
I also understand that its based on a real Hellfire Club were the rich and powerful got together to do whatever they wanted, "Do what you wish," or something like that was their motto.
And I get that is meant to be like a den of sin, but to try and keep it more PG for the kids and for the general audience I came up with her costume.

I always wondered, why all these powerful and influential mutant women would dress up in underwear while the men had noblemen type costumes.

So maybe they can, depending on the person, dress Victorian but also dress more risque and more fitting to their character.
That drawing of Emma is pretty good, maybe not have the slit in the middle of her skirt right there, or something. But not all the women would wear that.
But that would probably work for her character. I still think out of the Hellfire Club she would dress more conservative and in Wall Street power suits.

My line of thinking with the idea is that the Club is their meeting place and not their home.
Each member is a wealthy and powerful business man or woman, so outside they would look like a regular person.
The Club is so that the wealthy and powerful mutants can get together and do whatever they feel like. They aren't bound to rules like the humans or lesser mutants.
If they wanted to shift control of the world to them why shouldn't they. They indulge in whatever because they can.
But again, we would keep it PG (or at least whatever Buffy and Angel and Smallville and Heroes is.)

I would make the business suit completely white. But I like and get your ideas. Ive always wondered why the men wear suits and stuff while the women wear ****ty underwear :p lol. I think your redesign makes more sense, though I would make it more revealing like others said, to make it more like the comic's Emma.

You know, Artistsean-for most of us, this thread is a fun little diversion. For you it's serious business. With one or 2 exceptions, I would never push for Marvel to actually implement my redesigns but I doubt you can say the same.

It's more like a scribble than a drawing, but thanks. The idea wasn't that the skirt has a slit, but more like a top layer and a bottom layer, and the bottom one is shorter. almost exactly the way you've done it, only the middle tone (which i assume would be a layer of fabric that wraps around under the more grey toned white) would be higher up her legs, so that you could see a bit of her form. As for the rest of your design, I'd loose the sleeves probably, and make the corset a little more corsety and form fitting. instead of the layer of white under her corset, maybe make it a bit tighter together and just shine through to her skin.

I'll never claim to be the authority on emma's character, but i get the impression that she gets a bit of influence and power over people not only due to her abilities and status but also due to her sexuality.

Also, buffy/angel/smallville have never avoided sexualizing their characters given the chance. after all, they're targeting a teen market, right? sex sells. :)

Someone posted an idea that I think could work for Emma. Let me know what you think of this:

The Question: I believe, if I'm not mistaken, that the Hellfire Club where a lot of wealthy mostly politicians that came together to as I said before engage in deviant acts of alcohol and sex (so to not at least touch on that would be inaccurate).

Artistsean: Yeah that is why Emma's name is Emma because of Emma Peel on the Avengers. Chris Claremont must have been very "inspired" by that episode. lol But yeah the show needs to be more PG but maybe you can introduce Emma by having her seducing one of the Hellfire Club's members she can strips off her heavy dress to reveal something that, pays tribute at least, to her comic book costume but by the end of the scene the audience sees that she was only seducing the overwieght SOB (maybe Harry Leland?), who she telepathically drugs, to get information on his company and therefore making herself more rich because she can steal his companies ideas.

Something like this would work for that opening scene.

Its a distraction for me too, (maybe I allow myself to get too distracted) a chance to have fun creating a show that will never actually happen (or maybe some day in the future). My main goal is starting my own comic book. But I guess I do take it pretty seriously. Thanks.

Thanks a lot. I also think her character would show through in her attitude and her actions and dialogue too. Maybe even more than her wardrobe but I have never been an expert on the White Queen. But the blue power suit is a deal breaker. Just kidding. I almost had her in a white suit. I just changed it to blue on a wim. But I agree, white suit would work better.

True, And I do like your redesign costume idea. It was just a little hard to understand the skirt area because her leg was up I guess. But nice idea. I am not an expert either, and actually never cared for her character. But I do think she should be included, at least during the Hellfire Club. And who knows, if the show goes long enough maybe even added as a new member but that would be further down the line. Like Season nine or something.

Hey sean, hope you don't mind me screwing with your micro thinggy.

Just thought i'd mess with emma a bit, see if I could work something out. I think making the corset and cleavage more obvious helps it come across as frost. it really ties the rest of your concept together. The second one was just foolin around, I wouldn't worry bout that.

Don't worry about it, most of the micro heroes I make are using someone elses micro hero as a starting point.
I like your design. Very nice looking. I think it works.
As with most, if not all, of my designs I post
the main idea is what I am trying to get across, not necessarily saying this is exactly how I see the character looking on the show.
I just wanted to help illustrate my ideas, and help others to see the show take shape.
For example, seeing all the Brotherhood together, or seeing all the Xavier students together gives a semi vague idea of how I would hope the show would look. But there is room for changes to my idea as long as the main goal, like the X-costumes being school uniforms, is kept.
