Mm Will Smith was first considered for Neo..but that probably doesn't matter.
He's just as capable as anyone you can name of leading the franchise. WB isn't hung up on race, you are.Michael B. Jordan?
So this is it now? In fear for racism every character in movies and games now should be black.
Black Neo, next will be black Superman, black Batman...and of course in few years a Pirates of the Caribbean remake with black Jack Sparrow.
But seriously back on topic: I never liked the Matrix so I really don't care for this one. Do whatever you want Warner...your funeral.

Hahaha, I knew if I wrote that every one will go all ''crazy''.

Well in that case, I'm on board. I love the Matrix universe. Even the sequels, even though Revolutions isn't on par with Reloaded. Another sequel would be my dream scenario, finding a way to work in Neo again. But if not, I'm okay with a spin-off story set in the same continuity. So Zak Penn's intimating that it's probably a spin off, maybe a prequel or maybe sequel. Not a reboot.
Actually, reboot is a rather specific term. Or it was until people started abusing it.
It's not really that specific. You could technically label a film that is a direct sequel as a reboot as well. I've seen it done that way.
The first movie described as a cinematic "reboot" was Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes. And it was a term that was really used because remake had a negative connotation. So reboot made it sound cooler and less negative. At least that's what I remember. We aren't REMAKING the movie or franchise. We're "REBOOTING" it.
How can it be a direct sequel and still be a reboot? A reboot is basically doing a new version of an IP that is completely different from the original version. Maybe not 100 % different as for example, the basic premise of the film would still be the same.
I've only seen "reboot" applied to would be franchises. Like you don't wouldn't "reboot" Casablanca. You would "remake" it.
The 2015 Vacation reboot was characterized as a reboot and a sequel to the older films.
I mean, couldn't a remake technically be all those things you lifted above as well?
Why can't you reboot or reimagine Casablanca?
