For a business man Inafune's chose's haven't been that great since he started all this. some how I think he's the opposite of all that kinda talk is really a designer. other wise some of the stuff everyone is all over him minus kaymiy state would be said. which is counter to what the latter said as well.

Ahead of Gamescom 2015, a new video has been uploaded by Comcept showing the first level of Mighty No. 9. Inti Creates’ Kinshi Ikegami, the game’s director, guides Beck through the opening in about three and a half minutes, even taking out a Round Digger boss along the way.
People will be able to prepare their own Mighty No. 9 speedruns in about a month and a half. The PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC versions of the game will be available in September, with North America getting it September 15 and internationally on September 18. Release dates have not been set for the 3DS and Vita releases.

Bugs blamed for the delay.

Mighty No. 9 will no longer make its planned September release. The Kickstarter-funded side-scroller has been delayed to Q1 2016.
As we have communicated in the updates to our backers, all of the core content for the game is developed and in a complete state, Comcept said in an update. However, there are still bugs and issues pertaining to the online features that are included in the game. These bugs and issues have a direct affect on enjoyment of the game, so a decision was made to work these issues out before release.
Mighty No. 9 will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Linux, and Mac, as well as PS Vita and 3DS later on.
Thanks, NeoGAF.

It hurts because a) he had the fans pay for it and b) the Red Ash situation. It also doesn't help that the game's art design and general look changed a lot from what they initially promised.Games get delayed all the time. I don't see how this will hurt him. If anything, it could hurt him if he released a buggy game early.

Upon hearing the news of Mighty No. 9’s delay, the creator of another apparent Mega Man successor has jumped on the opportunity to present their own game.
It’s called 20XX and it’s said to play like Mega Man X. It has local and online co-op for up to two people, procedurally generated levels, and over 100 collectible weapons, items, and power ups.
Mighty No. 9 was due out on September 15th in North America so it’s probably no coincidence that the first beta build of 20XX is due to arrive on Steam Early Access on September 15th. Currently, you can purchase it on Early Access but it’s only an alpha build.
