Announcement just in. Wanderlei Silva will face Dana White!

Dude, why you bull****tin'? Dana White's taking on Fedor, not Wandy. Get your **** right.

Well, my ****ing cable company took a **** on me and I wasn't able to order the damn PPV. :cmad:

But from what I've read...it was a good'n.

Anderson Silva took it home in the second with a rear-naked choke. If there were still some doubters of his out there, this win should silence them. Huge, HUGE victory for the Spider.
Talks about his next opponent being Okami, who took apart Tanner. Don't see how he'll have a shot against Silva though. Only fighter I think who could take him that's still out there is Lindland. But he's never going to come back to the UFC as long as Dana's running things.

Shogun reinjured his knee and had to drop out of his match with Liddell. This news has me seriously depressed. I hope that he can come back and return to his old form. :(

He'd still get KO'd by Liddell. I wanted to see it so bad.

Looks like the UFC found their replacement for Shogun in Rashad Evans who will now main event UFC 85 against Chuck Liddell.

God, I hope Chuck KOs him in the first. But, as you mentioned in the other thread, I can definitely see Evans playing this safe and trying to eek out a split, ala Jardine/Liddell. :o

Too bad about Shogun. Wish he could stay healthy. Rashad's not a bad sub for him, though. Should still be a good fight.

Hopefully it will be. Rashad's last few fights have been Sylvia-esque IMO: smart fights, but boring. I just hope he's not scared to shoot in and try and take Liddell to the ground. :o

And it does suck about Shogun. I was soooo looking forward to see him and Liddell duke it out. :csad:
Hopefully he'll take the time off needed to get his knee 100% again and not try and rush back.

I'm interested in what this revolutionairy new fighting surface will be.

The idea to bring back the Superfights also interests me, provided that it's two fighters who are worth a ****. :o

Damn Silva is the man. But I did think Hendo posed the biggest threat so far. I wasn't sure Silva was going to come out without a loss but he has definitely proved he is the best fighter pound for pound if not tied for the number one slot.

They were talking about it on the radio yesterday, and all I heard was that it was created by the founder of UFC. Also heard some of the older UFC fighters were in it.

Don't forget that Meyrowitz damn near killed UFC as well. His track record isn't all that great for running a business of this type.

How do you guys feel about the next UFC card?

Franklin vs. Lutter and GSP vs. Serra

I think Franklin should win pretty easily, if is head and heart are still in it.

Same with GSP, I think he will win but Serra is strong and stalky and has the potential for that one punch knock out.

I think both Franklin and GSP take it convincingly. Serra, IMO, is a one-hit-wonder who got the better of GSP when his heart and head weren't in the game (which is usually how GSP loses). Now that St. Pierre is on a mission there won't be any stopping him.

I'm just waiting to see GSP move up and take on the Spider. Now that would be a hell of a match.

I like GSP, but in all honesty I think the spider would destroy him. Maybe if GSP has another five years of experience under his belt.

I'm not a fan of GSP, but if his mind is in the right place for a match he's one of the best P4P fighters in the world. Moving up to take on a fighter like Silva would be his greatest challenge, but I think, if he truly wanted to, he could do it.
But I do think Silva would take the W. But I'm bias, so... :o

Well I am bias to towards Silva, I think he would pwn GSP personally.

If what he did to Hendo this past weekend is any indication, I'd have to agree. I don't see anyone stopping him unless he gets overly cocky and doesn't train hard enough for a fight or something.
Only MW I think that's out there that can beat him is Lindland. Though I think Filho could give him a decent match if he took it to the ground. Course the latter will never happen as they're best friends and refuse to even talk about fighting one another. :o :csad:

I don't see him getting cocky though, he has never been that type of fighter. He may show boat a little after he wins, but very slightly.

Either that, or he gets completely caught by a flying scissor heel hook like Ryo Chonan did to him several years ago.

Some big news in the world of MMA...

Fedor Emelianenko to Become Free Agent

Apparently, Dana says the UFC is 100% ready to re-open negotiation with him. Though I don't see how it will be any different this time around, since the major deal-breaker was the restrictions of the contract.
That and I'm sure some form of verbal sewage will spew from Dana's mouth during the negotiations that will throw a monkey wrench into it as well. :o

I wonder if Couture would come back to the UFC if Fedor signs with them. His mission of late is hunting Fedor, after all. However, Dana has said some pretty nasty sh1t about Randy since he left. I vote they put him in the cage with Fedor AND Randy and just let them do whatever they want to him.
