Man it sucks that I didn't see this thread until now. I'm a huge MMA fan. Oh well let's see what's on the horizon.
I think the Evans Machida fight will be a huge one to watch. I really don't have a favorite fighter, but Rashad is easily a guy I always root for. He's always counted out, even though he is one of the most talented guys in MMA period. Ever since seeing him on TUF 2 I have been a fan, and he's improved in every single fight except for the Bisping fight to where he didn't look like himself. Machida is another guy I like to watch because he's so damn technical. The angles that he takes are unreal, and he's clearly in it to win. Machida is the deadliest type of fighter out there, because you have to beat him using your all instead of relying on him to make a mistake. The great thing about this matchup is that both guys are the cream of the crop at 205, and I wouldn' pick any other guy to beat them except their opponent. Rampage is always dangerous, but Rashad and Machida are too refined to handle him. Forrest always has heart, but they're too good for him. Jardine won't fight Evans, and against Machida he's got a good chance but lacks a chin. Shogun is overrated. He's never really been anything but a B fighter like the other Chute Boxe guys. Not saying he sucks, but he leaves himself wide open for straight punches and takedowns. Evans and Machida will beat him pretty handily. Anderson is moving up, but for how long? He won't fight Machida, and I'd love to see him fight Rashad. I think he's got his heart set on defending the title.
With all that being said I pick Rashad slightly based on bias, and more based on talent and improvement. What Machida has over Rashad now is better footwork. Rashad is light on his feet right now, but Machida can trap him against the cage like Chuck and Forrest did. Rashad does have the speed to escape, and Rashad will beat Machida iby decision. I think the plan will be to get Lyoto worried about the striking, and to mix up strikes and takedowns. Regardless it will be a great battle, even if it has the potential to be boring.
So what else is going on in the MMA world?
-UFC 100 is pretty stacked, and GSP/Alves is another intriguing matchup. GSp will outsrike Alves, and show people why he's so damn great. Lesnar will also win, as I think he'll keep it on the feet and outstrike Mir from there.
-Anderson vs. Forrest is another great matchup that will show people just how great Anderson is. At this point in time Anderson only has extremely minor weaknesses that Forrest won't exploit. I wouldn't count out Forrest though. He's come along way as a fighter. It's just that there really is almost nothing that Anderson isn't good or great at.
-Can't wait for Couture and Big Nog to fight. My money is only Randy, but Nog is always dangerous.
-Gergard Moussasi is a freaking beast. I want to see him fight at 185 against some of the UFC and Strikeforce guys instead of Soukoudjou. Sok is gonna get subbed again.
-Love Fedor, but hate his die hard fans. Nothing wrong with being a big fan of a fighter, but some of those guys take it to the extreme. Not only have I heard such outlandish things like Fedor being better at boxing than Ali, but there's also creepy stuff like this guy getting his autograph tatooed.
-Fedor will crush Barnett. Barnett is okay, but he really benefits from the heavyweight division being the weakest division. His skillset would get him killed if he as smaller. Fedor's just too damn good for him. To beat Fedor you need to be dangerous, and Josh isn't that guy.
-I eventually want to see Miguel Torres fight whoever wins the rematch between Uriah Faber and Mike Brown. That would just be sick to see.
