You're right about B.J. being a sore loser. I'm not a Penn basher, but the whole grease incident has become a joke. He needs to focus on fighting, because at the rate he's going he won't keep his belt past either Kenflo or Diego. Penn is so talented, but he doesn't live up to it like he should. He just makes excuses. If he isn't careful he could lose a decision to Kenny, and afterwards he'd ***** about being screwed by the judges. I think he'll be Kenny though, but Diego will take Penn's title. Diego has some pretty good sub defense, and his pace will wear B.J. out over the rounds. Penn doesn't train hard enough to beat a guy like Diego right now. Then he'll make an excuse about Diego being on Speed or something.:whatever: I like to watch B.J. fight, but the man is mostly hype at this point. For every great win he has, he has a ridiculous excuse for losing. He needs to keep his ass in the gym, and become the fighter that he should. He's practically the same dude he always has been. But anyways this is too funny not to post. I'm sure it's been posted, but it's always worth a laugh since we're talking about B.J.

Greasgate did become a joke, the topper being BJ Penn's mommy coming to the athletic commission hearings.

I think Kenflo will surprise a lot of people in his fight with Penn. I'm either seeing a submission from Kenflo or a decision win. Penn has no heart and goes by natural talent alone.

Diego I dont think is going to be a good at lightweight as some think. He didnt really impress me all that much against Joe Stevenson. He is going to be top 5 for sure, but I'm not sure he will beat guys like Sherk, Penn, or a Kenflo. Heck I'm not sure he will get pass my man Clay Guida. Guida has the mose intense pace in MMA and he is going to push Diego hard. Diego has size on his side, but Guida's wrestling is top notch.

A Diego/Kenflo rematch at lightweight would be cool, and I definitely think the outcome would be different this time.

Hey stop cracking on BJ Penn! GSP CHEATED! HE'S A GREASER!!!

:D

GSP/Alves fight is very intriguing. A fighter like GSP who is such an ultimate total package is rare. GSP has great wrestling, technical and freaking powerful strikes and standup, and yes he has a good ground game. GSP's game in his last several fights has just been perfect.

Thiago Alves like GSP is a bigger run welterweight. Somehow these guys apparently can cut to 170 for a fight and then go into the fight the next day at like 200 lb, or so Alves claims.

Alves has been able to rely on his size and strength as a bigger welterweight to bully a lot of fighters. He's a powerful striker, great kickboxer, and he has deadly low kicks.

GSP is a good fighter but remember, he's still not unbeatable. Land the right shots and you can put him down. If Alves can protect himself and get in there against GSP, I think he can put GSP down. I think if Alves tries to wrestle with GSP at all, GSP wins.

If you were to bet money on this fight, I'd probably bet money on Alves if GSP was the favorite, just because I like Alves power in this fight.

Alves is not going to bully GSP around. Yea Alves will be the bigger guy, but he will also come in heavier and lose a lot of stamina/steam if he cuts from 200, like Dana claims. Alves also is prone to takedowns in fights and GSP is a master at putting guys on their back. If Fitch can get Alves down, no doubt GSP will.

Alves always has a chance on the feet and land something big, but GSP will be looking for that and GSP's standup is so smooth that he will be very careful and likely wont get touched. No one in MMA sets up their takedowns with strikes better than GSP.

I expect a 3rd round submission or GNP stoppage at the hands of GSP.

Yeah GSP is no joke. The guy trains like a beast and has his head in the right place. If he is on top of his game and thinking straight and training right he is very hard to beat in his weight class.

He is extremely strong too for his size.

GSP cuts alot as well. He like Alves is a bigger welterweight.

True but he isn't that big to begin with so he isn't cutting that much to get down to make weight.

I chalk Diego's fight up to first time cutting to 155. I usually give a fighter the benefit of the doubt for their first fight at a different weight. I forgot about Sherk and Tyson Griffin giving him problems, but I have a feeling that the UFC would give Diego a title shot before Sherk. If B.J. wins against Kenny then B.J. versus another Tuffer would be a good sell as opposed to a rematch with Sherk. If Kenny wins then a rematch of the first TUF Finale would be a huge sell. Diego just has to get past Guida, and I think he can do that if he plays his cards right with the standup. That should be a war. Both guys are pretty damn relentless.

I can agree with the weight cutting point you made. The first time can be rough. So I can give Diego the benefit of the doubt. I mean that's the whole reason Wandy is fighting Rich Franklin at 195, so he can get use to cutting the weight to 185.

But Diego didnt really looked gassed in the fight, but that doesnt mean he wasnt worn out from the weight cut either. I think he just took advantage of the Stevenson's poor striking and one demensional game.

I cannot wait for his fight with Guida. No matter who wins, thats going to be fight of the night for sure.

If BJ beats Kenflo, I actually think Sherk is his best bet. Sherk is IMO the number 2 guy in the lightweight division and if he actually WRESTLES next time, he could beat Penn. The winner of Diego/Guida could be a good match for Penn also. I think Guida would be a better PPV sell. The guys has a huge following and has so much energy. He is a nut, but in a good way! Diego is just an odd ball.

Yeah, the Diego/Guida fight is going to be crazy! I can't wait for that one.

I also agree that Sherk is the #2 lightweight in the UFC. The winner of the Diego/Guida fight should get Sherk, if Sherk gets by Edgar, which I think most likely he will. Winner of that should get the title shot.

probably going to be Liddell and Tanner, but don't count out White inducting himself.

Also, any thoughts on Strikeforce? I like Strikeforce, since they are not going to try to be EliteXC. They have some quality fighters like Scott Smith, Jake Shields and Robbie Lawler. Now if they can actually get Overeem to defend his Strikeforce Heavyweight Championship. They acquired and then renegotiated most of the EliteXC contracts, but they have yet to sign Gina Carano, who they want to build their Womens Division (or lack thereof) around her. From what I have heard, they have little interest in Kimbo Slice (who should try pro wrestling. He has the personality for it. I'm sure Vince McMahon could hype him up to death).

I agree with you on Sherk being the best bet, but I think the UFC would go with the more money fights since they're relatively still in a growing mode. Hence Brock getting a title shot. I'm a Lesnar fan too btw, but I know he got that title shot because it would bring in the money. Of course he delvered by winning, so it's not that big a deal to me. Same thing with Forrest. Diego is more marketable than Sherk right now I think.

I really like Strikeforce. I like MMA, but what I hate is how some orgs get overblown because of Japanese or Fedo bias. DREAM and Sengoku are decent, but I wouldn't cry if I missed them. Strikeforce on the other hand is a really competent org with some good B and C level fighters. To me they're like the NCAA to the UFC's NFL, and that's what I really want. It's also no accident that they, along with the UFC and WEC, are the only profitable MMA orgs out there. Strikeforce will turn into a real keeper org if they play their cards right.

what about XFA,the xtreme fighting championships orgaization?whats your take on them?

Man small orgs like that run so much together, that I can't remember which one is which. But they are very crucial to the growth of MMA. Everybody can't start in the UFC, so it's important that these smaller orgs are giving future stars a place to get some experience before the big leagues. King of the Cage was(are they still around:huh:) great at this. They had so many of today's stars in their org, and it's fun to pick up some of their DVDs to see how a guy like Rampage used to look before his debut against Sakuin PRIDE. I'm glad that Sherdog is streaming these events now. It's really going a long way to build the future of MMA.

i like xfc but by their stated rules no clinching or grappling its seems more to me like a KICKBOXING federation than a MMA one so their calling it a MMMA group is something of a misnomer

^I have never understood all the Hughes hate. Next to Randy Couture, he is my favorite MMA fighter

I usually don't watch The Ultimate Fighter, but I was at a friends house last night for dinner and he likes it so I watched about half of the episode....what a bunch of catty crybabies on the US team....the UK guys work hard and are thrilled to be there....but the US squad...its all **** talking and crying....wow I am ashamed

Me neither. In my opinion he's the best all time MMA fighter right now, just barely edging out guys like Fedor and Anderson. He never had to deal with split competition in his weight class over in PRIDE, so he always fought the best at 170 in his prime. He also defended his title 7 times, and he's an amazing 9-3 in title fights. Of course MMA is in it's infancy, so he'll be passed by guys like GSP in a few years here, but the man was truly dominant.

Man, I can't wait for Machida and Evans to go at it. Just one more week.

Machida/Evans has the potential to be the best fight of the year, and most boring fight of the year at the same time, all depending on who you talk to about it.
Personally, I really enjoy technical fights so I'm super pumped for this.

Co-sign with both of ya. Both guys are so damn good, and I can't wait to see the consequences. I think this fight will be so good that it sparks a rivalry. Whoever loses will get another chance in the future I bet.

Probably has to do with the coaches, although I don't know anything about the personalities of Bisping or Henderson.
