After we learned that that chinese guy was playing Quills I think some people were disapointed. I am thinking that they gave us some of the lamer mutants because it wouldnt cost as much money for production
instead of Sunfire or Avalanche or Blob or Quicksilver, we get Quills
Instead of White Queen or that gal w/ a yellow face and blue cloak, we get Arclight
I just don't like some of the lame ass characters they brought....especially the looks of them. I'd rather see bigger named characters...but, that might have oversceded production costs
I actually agree, I'm not too thrilled with some of the character selections for this movie.
I understand the arguement behind using some lesser known characters, and I don't mind seeing lesser known characters (to be upfront, these are X-Men movies, and I don't think that any character is below being recognized in the film adaptations), however, at the same time, there are some characters who are definative of the X-Men. I am definatley disappointed that by the time all is said and done, we'll have had Toad, William Stryker, Multiple Man, Arclight, and Quill recognized into the movies, but there won't have been anything for Gambit, one of the most popular and recognizable X-Men characters ever.
I really liked the originally announced characters, of Avalanche and Gambit. I'm afraid that the role that Gambit was supposed to play (starts off with the Brotherhood, and then defects to the X-Men) has been replaced by Psylocke. Now, Psylocke is a cool character and all, but I'm just really mad that they'd do that, and then say they didn't have room for him, when they did, they just decided to give his role to someone else instead.
All in all though, it's not too bad. I'll forever be disappointed that I never got to see Gambit brought to life on the big screen. That will be the one thing that will forever haunt this series for me. But all in all, we've gotten 2 (and soon to be a 3rd) movies that brilliantly captured the X-Men world, and brought them to life, and made these characters real.
