After we learned that that chinese guy was playing Quills I think some people were disapointed. I am thinking that they gave us some of the lamer mutants because it wouldnt cost as much money for production

instead of Sunfire or Avalanche or Blob or Quicksilver, we get Quills
Instead of White Queen or that gal w/ a yellow face and blue cloak, we get Arclight

I just don't like some of the lame ass characters they brought....especially the looks of them. I'd rather see bigger named characters...but, that might have oversceded production costs

We have enough popular characters for the movie...

Lesser known characters you can do more with in a movie and people will appreciate them more...

I actually agree, I'm not too thrilled with some of the character selections for this movie.

I understand the arguement behind using some lesser known characters, and I don't mind seeing lesser known characters (to be upfront, these are X-Men movies, and I don't think that any character is below being recognized in the film adaptations), however, at the same time, there are some characters who are definative of the X-Men. I am definatley disappointed that by the time all is said and done, we'll have had Toad, William Stryker, Multiple Man, Arclight, and Quill recognized into the movies, but there won't have been anything for Gambit, one of the most popular and recognizable X-Men characters ever.

I really liked the originally announced characters, of Avalanche and Gambit. I'm afraid that the role that Gambit was supposed to play (starts off with the Brotherhood, and then defects to the X-Men) has been replaced by Psylocke. Now, Psylocke is a cool character and all, but I'm just really mad that they'd do that, and then say they didn't have room for him, when they did, they just decided to give his role to someone else instead.

All in all though, it's not too bad. I'll forever be disappointed that I never got to see Gambit brought to life on the big screen. That will be the one thing that will forever haunt this series for me. But all in all, we've gotten 2 (and soon to be a 3rd) movies that brilliantly captured the X-Men world, and brought them to life, and made these characters real.

Well, the script review mentioned Gambit only once for a quick scene. It never spoke about him at all after that, much less anything about him joing the X-Men. In fact, it said that that was basically all we would see of him.

^ Well actually, if I remember correctly, he was supposed to be hanging around with the Brotherhood for the rest of the script, and the 3rd was never revealed...

The heavy rumor was that he was going to end up with the X-Men.

With the minimal scenes we've had with Psylocke (actually, only one picture of her, with Callisto and Arclight), it could be interpreted that she pretty much has the same size role that Gambit was going to.

Hmm, I guess I can see where you came up with that notion.

its not a problem we are getting a third film isnt that enough?

Good point, I like that attitude. Sooooo many people around here have this undue sense of entitlement. They seem to think that somehow the moviemakers somehow owe us something and their constant *****ing is just embarassing. It's nice to see someone else who's grateful for all the great entertainment we've been given.

The reason they picked Quill and Arclight and others is because they can safely put them in small supporting roles without people *****ing about how they weren't done justice. As it is I know people will ***** nonstop about Juggernaut because he's not going to be properly fleshed out, there just isn't time, which is why they should have just gone with Blob or some throwaway Strong Mutant.

Also Nell, I think you're wrong about Psylocke. Didn't Simon say you could blink a few times during the movie and miss her?

No, he said you could safely blink and not miss her.
