The Mystery Of The White Spider

We've seen a **** load of footage now, and we still only have one shot of symbiot spidey with the white spider on his chest. It's in the scene where he let's out the giant rush of water, which (from what we know now) is meant for Sandman. The reason I say that this is a mystery is because when the symbiot first takes over peter, the spider is grey. When peter is fighting Sandman in the subway, the spider is grey. And when Peter is ripping the symbiot off in the bell tower, the spider is grey. Any thoughts?

I am going out on a limb here and saying that the spider will be grey.

It's a production issue rather than anything relating to the storyline. That is to say, it will be changed by the time the movie is completed.

Ok, so maybe I'm making too much of this, but the spider is a clear, bright white in only that one shot, and i was just wondering. I had always thought the spider would be white. I never would have guessed grey before we saw any shots. Oh well, I guess we can just forget about it.

I just checked again. I think it only looks white in that shot because of the light reflecting off of it. It's metallic gray.

I don't know about that. It looks pearly white to me.

Yea, it's a somewhat reflective costume in the webbing and logo so it's easy to see how the light could make the spider look white, but it isn't

More importantly, the black costume is not black, it's grey.

it is black. every material that is black and is under heavy light becomes grey. it is normal. plus the texture is shiny so that it makes the suit like in hte comics

I had always thought it was white in that shot on perpose, exclusively for the teaser.

The spider was never white....it's the same dark silver color as the raised webbing from both costumes. The only reason it looks the way it does is they put the focus directly on the logo as Spidey swings into the camera so that the shot would end with the logo dead center in an extreme closeup as he swings past.

Sometimes people read so much into minute details it makes your head hurt.
