The Naked Fun in The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 62

And I still think the Dairanger suits should've been used in the MMPR season 2.

It was weird to see Kiba Ranger, the white ranger was so different from the rest....and also the Dairen-o (the thunder megazord) but with Zyurangers piloting it, lol

there is one more franchise within this genre that I think is very underrated and I think not a lot of new and younger fans knew about (since it became defunct since 1996)...the Metal heroes series.

My favorite is of course and always...Sharivan
(eventhough the series was aired 5 years before I was even born, and yes...the ultimate finishing weapon was inspired by Star Wars' lightsaber, haha )

And this is my first "Avengers assemble" moment..
when Retsu (Gavan) showed up in Sharivan's last episode and made a double henshin with Den (Sharivan) 🤗

With no shame, I will randomly go around my house yelling “TYRANNOSAURUS!” :o

Don’t tell nobody yall. :sneeze:

Awesome😁

Speaking of toys...I just remembered that a long time Super Sentai producer, Suzuki Takayuki-shi once mentioned in an interview that during Christmas 1993, he was getting a call from America (I believe it was from Saban's representative) that asked him if there were any Zyuranger's toys left in Japan, because it became such a high demand in America. Takayuki-shi then said because at the time (that's around the time Dairanger nearly finishes its broadcast) Zyuranger was already ended, so unfortunately there were no any stocks left.

I read that interview in an official "Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger" mook guide book (every Super Sentai series got its own separate book)
Here's the book:

This is reminding me of how badly I want to get into Super Sentai, Ultraman and especially Kamen Rider. Dipped my toes in once or twice and found the genre ****ing delightful.

This made me happy hehe...
if you're new to Kamen Rider, I'd recommend not to start with the showa series, instead start with Heisei series (very recommend start with Build (2018), W/Double (2010), Faiz/555 (2003), Drive (2014), Kiva (2008), then Kuuga (2000), Agito (2001) and Ryuki (2002), or if start with the Reiwa series, I'd recommend Saber (2021) and Geats (2023) (the one I already shared in previous page) that I think the premises of all the particular seasons I mentioned here would be more accessible for western audience.

Geats, Ryuki, Kuuga, and 01 should be on Tubi.

Still waiting to hear on how Zetz will be available in the west.

I used to be an Ultraman fanboy in the 90s. I remember watching some shows that were always on and there were some good comics that tied in back then too. I remember his human contact/alter ego go back then was Jack Shindo (such a cool name). Does anyone have any recommendations for good new Ultraman content? I haven’t watched or read anything with him in it since then.

Oh, for the Showa Kamen Rider series.
I might recommend starting with the duology of Kamen Rider Black & Kamen Rider Black RX (already shared the videos on the previous page) and skip the original 7 series that preceded them. I wouldn't say the previous 7 series were bad though...but how do I say this?
The comparison would be the same like if you were watching Godzilla showa series vs Heisei & Reiwa series. (sometimes, it was rough to watch at some aspect of it, haha...so I definitely wouldn't recommend it for the first timer😄).

So, Starting with Black & Black RX is equivalent with watching Godzilla for the first time with "Gojira 84" or "vs Biollante" onwards.

And I apologize beforehand but I also really wanted to show the day & night differences between Black RX and Masked Rider (the American adaptation of Black RX)...because heard that a lot of fans in the west had making fun of it for quite sometime (but after seeing how they butchered Black RX and changed it into a sitcom comedy, I wouldn't blame them).

True story... the author of Kamen Rider, the late Ishinomori Shotaro-sensei had expressed his big disappointment in the Saban's adaptation. (To this day, I always thought that Saban's Masked Rider was what tarnished the brand and the name of Kamen Rider in the west. Often I read that KR is just a cheap knock off of Power Rangers...and tbh, it was quite bothered me to hear that).
So yeah, I hope upon watching the original series and also the upcoming brand new series (Zeztz) that will be streaming simultaneously with US market, the new fans will grow and redeem their views on Kamen Rider.

for Ultraman, you should definitely start with the Heisei trilogy, Tiga (1996), Dyna (1997), and Gaia (1998).

Those 3 shows are the best of the best among the Ultra series, imo.

Or start with the Nefflix anime series, that features the original Ultraman in there. The show was quite good enough.

Here's the preview for the Ultraman's Heisei trilogy

That reminds me... just for fun
Also here's Ultraman Nexus (2004) the one series when Ultraman went "full Zack Snyder" 😆
The show got cut short in the middle of production because the rating was low, as the tone was too dark for kids. (but it had a killer OP song, though)

Thanks for the recommendations! Yeah I remember seeing that there was a Netflix anime series now that you mention it.

The show was set outside the main universe from the live action TV show.
It was more of a homeage to the original 1966 show, and it features the original Ultraman (Jack Shindo or Shin Hayata in Japanese)..though the main character in this story is the son of that Jack Shindo.

Although the animation takes some time getting used to, and some elements that differs a lot from Ultraman lore (like now Ultraman is an armor suit like Iron Man and had the size of normal human rather than a giant, but it was enjoyable enough with epic actions and intriguing story.

Very cool. I don’t mind some changes to the lore; it’s fun to see properties evolve or incorporate new stuff.

So...can we consider Chris Pratt 's descent into being one of the most hated celebrities at least online a Pratt Fall?

*Looks at the hysteria Austin Butler’s new magazine photoshoot is causing on Twitter*

Yeah, he can play MCU Gambit.

Talk about a bummer! No Dune or Batman sucks! :csad:

I know I joked quite often over the last year about Fraser not being available for either film because he'd choose a Jurassic sequel over them. Somehow this is worse than :o

Bummer for sure, but at the end of the day it's Reeves' vision, so I'll trust whoever they choose to replace him. I assume his other previous collaborator Michael Seresin is out of the question due to his age. I say bring on Rob Hardy.

I am sure The Batman Part 2 will get a great alternative option. It's fine
