The Naked Fun in The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 62

Take it for what you will but John Campea on his show today says he was contacted by someone close to the production and they said “it was just a momentary bit of tension that was quickly remedied.” :funny: Sounds like something a producer would say.

Well theyre all saying it wasnt RDJ who was causing the drama, it was two other actors. Something about a joke gone wrong and another actor not taking it well.

Yeah there's definitely a lot of projection going on in this story
People are mad about RDJ coming back, and mad about his payday, so he gets blamed
Reynolds has the Blake Lively controversy so he gets blamed
Pedro's been a target of the right wingers, so he gets name dropped

It was probably two totally unexpected people, like Wyatt Russell and James Marsden going at it or something
And we'll never know the truth regardless

Marvel should drop some footage to try and move the narrative beyond this bs

Superman (2025)

Finally got around to watching this - found it absolutely delightful!

Gunn's decision to jump right into the action was a wise one. This universe feels believable and oddly organic, in the best possible way. Metahumans aren't objects of wonder or controversy; they're just part of the fabric of everyday life, which is somewhat refreshing. And the colour palette! I love the MCU dearly but I can't remember the last time I saw a CBM this vibrant and alive! It was also fun being introduced to characters like Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl, Guy Gardner, and Metamorpho for the very first time. I'd gladly watch a Justice Gang movie at this point, were the studio inclined to make one! Pure joy...

I respect that the film isn't for everyone, and please don't think me unsympathetic to the concerns some folks here have raised over the movie's political subtext (my roommate also found aspects of it "problematic" and has no desire to watch it again, though she thought Corenswet was the "hottest guy" she'd seen in a movie in "ages"). However, Superman made me happy and put a smile on my face. And with happiness in such short supply these days, I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't grateful for the film's existence. Moreover, it whet my appetite for future adventures in the new DCU, so I have no choice but to consider this a win.

Now bring on Supergirl, Clayface, Peacemaker, Lanterns, and whatever else Gunn and Safran are cooking up for us!

I think it'll leak in time but not before the movie comes out.

Ironically, that rumored second round of cast announcements that was debunked was supposed to happen this week so that would have at least been a distraction.

Nothing better than a movie slower than snails, and wants me to think that James Marsden would get cuked by the most boring man alive.

Superman Returns is a great cure for insomnia I guess. :o

You know what Drizzy, I'll rephrase.

For me personally, Superman 1 & 2 led by Reeve are undefeated, but after them, it's a toss up between Gunn and Returns.

I mean I did give them the same ranking on letterboxd :o

Speaking of letterboxd, I decided to log shorts and miniseries.

Now I'm closer to 5k films logged.

They really need to get cracking on that TV show version of Letterboxd. Miniseries make more sense to live there than on the film Letterboxd. I'm sure there are a bunch of shorts and DVD special feature docs that are on Letterboxd that I just haven't logged yet. I know there are a bunch of Looney Tunes, Little Rascals and Three Stooges shorts that I watched as a kid and haven't logged because it's too much effort and I truly don't remember all the ones I've seen.

So glad you liked it BG!

I'm curious, what would be your top 5 TV shows of all time on Idiotboxd?

And yes Monday Night Raw counts LOL.
I'm gonna say 4 because it's the Letterboxd way :

Breaking Bad
The Sopranos
The Wire
Game of Thrones

It's basic as hell to put Sopranos, Breaking Bad and The Wire on there but there's a reason why those are the best. Game of Thrones ended sloppily but for the majority of the time it was on it was elite television and I made it a point to stop what I was doing on Sundays at 9 to watch it.
