The Dark Knight The new and improved Mr. Reese thread

REESE NOT RIDDLER.

Plus the guy was annoying as hell, I'm glad The Joker marked him. :woot:

I have done the pencil trick on him...twice.

I found it to be very strange that every time the character we knew as "Reese" was on screen he was refered to as "Mr. Reese".

He knows a big secret, and has a slimly villanous way about him.

Let's re-evaluate the character now that we've seen the film and discuss;

Why would he be "snooping around"?

He went straight to Mike Engel, who we know from the GCN viral, isnt a Batman supporter.

And finally, why is he refered to only as "Mister Reese"?

Hmmm, Mr Reese...Mis...ter...eese...Mysterious? And what did Michael Gough teach us in Batman Forever?

I dunno if Mr. Resse is going to be Riddler in a third movie, but i believe Nolan has plans to develop this plot line in a future movie, im sure. Its his style.

Why hasn't anyone brought up the fact that Nolan, while he has taken a few liberties, has been pretty true to source material with shoutouts to TLH and such? This includes CHARACTER NAMES.

The Riddler is Edward Nashton/Edward Nygma...not, um, Coleman Reese.

Doesn't mean Reese can't sign his newspaper riddles E. Nigma. If the dude's name was Edward Nigma, it'll kill the mystery of who the Riddler is..

here's an even further stretch, based not on name, maybe alil of looks, but, not much else...

what if he turn out to be, the madhatter LOL

I loved to hate Reese in this movie, thats it. If he turns out to be the riddler in the 3rd movie.. **** it, if the riddle is even IN the 3rd movie.. this series ends for me with TDK.

Oorrrr maybe Nolan would just introduce someone elsewhere (say, maybe, oh I don't know...in the 3rd film?) that HAS the actual name of the Riddler...ya know, like he has with every other character so far.

Call me crazy.

Now if you want to suggest that whoever is the Riddler (if we even get him) could go after Reese for his info, that's something else...and plausible.

However, Reese himself will not be the Riddler. Period. The end.

Hate to add more fuel to the fire, my brother just watched Batman Begins and apparently Mr. Reese is at the Wayne Enterprises board meeting when Bruce introduces himself back to the company and Gotham.

Riddler or not, that kind of thing is exactly why I cherish Nolan at the helm of making Batman films.

Great find:up::up:

Seriously, before we saw TDK Mike Engel was the Riddler. Now Mr. Reese is the Riddler

He was annoying, lame, and ugly. There is no more basis for this guy being the Riddler than the falafel guy. If this man is the Riddler I am done with this series, which is why I'm confident he's not.

But can you all imagine it. The Dark Knight, hailed as a masterpiece by many with a phenomenal villain in Heath Ledger's Joker. How do they follow it up? With Mr. Reese's pieces as the Riddler!!!!!!11

It would appear to be that Nolan's formula is if fanboys are *****ing about it, well, IT's gold (as far as casting goes).

Reese is not Riddles.

Reese was just a little worm that was used as an adversary for Fox. He really wasn't necessary for the film. I think they just wanted to give Freeman more screen time IMHO.

Riddles should be the baddie in the next film. He's the complete opposite of Joker because he always plans things out. Have Bats duke it out in a battle of wits with the Riddler and have him slowly earn Gothams trust and respect back.

Make Riddles suave/debonair and a complete meglomaniac and make him feel in every way mentally superior to all of Gotham. He can hold the city ransom or possibly even greater than just Gotham maybe the world... with Gotham as the starting point! (Obviously in a less terrifying manner than the Joker, but with the same if not more at stake).

I have no doubt the man who helmed the masterpiece that is the Prestige could make a magnificent Riddler.

"In Nolan we trust"

You guys might not want to put it down for CERTAIN if he IS or ISNT. The third movie hasn't even been green lighted yet, so you have no way of knowing for certain.

Oh I just love when people know for sure based on their speculation. Pa-lease. You're speculating please say so. You're not a Batman prophet.

Exactly! Screw all the haters who laughed when I suggested Alfred is really Wonder Woman. The third movie isn't out you, you don't know! Don't think you're better than me just because you scoff at my stupid baseless that define the term "grasping at straws!"

The name is definetly wordplay on Mysterious/Mysteries. Maybe thats what Nolan & Co wanted to do. Cause a mystery by the guys name. Mr Reese.

I'll accept that he MIGHT be in third, but no one he will be the Riddler. He lost any kind of menacing quality needed to pose a threat to Batman in just one scene with Fox. So the audience will have a hard time believing he can threaten the Batman.

The Riddler isn't supposed to seem like a threat. He's supposed to be an insignificant nobody and that is what makes him dangerous. Those losers with so much to prove are the ones who end up going to extreme lengths to get noticed. Lennon and Kennedy, two iconic and powerful guys were both killed by people who were aching to be taken seriously.
Trust me, the Riddler's lack of menace is exactly the thing that makes him so dangerous.

When you people say how much you hated Reese. Is that because the acting was poor? Or because the acting was very good?
