OK...

I first thought that Reese was some upstart reporter, hence him being there at the TV studio...

But he was seen at the funeral service scenes with Gordon, and in his car with him... Maybe Reese is a cop? A young detective with an older mentor á la Mills and Summers in Seven?

There is a scene in the sides where Gordon has to talk a cop out of shooting the joker (like in Seven) after the Joker has put said cop's wife in hospital (well, kinda like in Seven). Harto, who plays Reese was pictured in a trench coat. Detectives wear trenchcoats, right!? Wasn't there also a scene in the SWAT van where Gordon was giving some young cop a pep talk?

But here's the thing, Reese may have been the one who broke into Wayne Enterprises??? Batman is a fugitive in TDK and is wanted by the police, and Gordon has to keep his (working) relationship with Batman a secret. Maybe Reese is hellbent on catching batman and links wayne to batman somehow? This might explain why Bruce has scenes with Reese?

And reese was recued (by Gordon or Bruce?) from the TV studio, maybe he was trying to catch the joker?

Regarding Engel, I'm almost positive AMH is playing him. AMH was dressed in NON RIDDLER APPAREL. Apparently Engel is a character jealous of Bruce and connects Bruce to Batman somehow, and proceeds to blackmail him by releasing his true identity live on air.

Which leads me to believe that Engel is some sort of news anchor, or has some show like Bill O Reilly, which matches the clothing AMH was wearing when they were filming at the TELEVISION studio... I think Joker wants Batman for himself and gatecrashes it... There is a scene where Bruce and Alfred are watching Engel on TV.

GAAAH! I'm so confused! So is Reese a reporter/journalist like I first though or is he a rookie detective?

Your thoughts?

Joshua Harto was on the set this week and he is playing Reese. Don't totally know WHAT is character is, but he was on the set.

AMH wears much brighter suits, etc. it seems much more likely he is Mike Engel.

So I think we are finally getting some agreement amongst people on who is who...

However you MIGHT be right about Reese, but there are some other cops we know of from cast calls and I have no idea how they all fit in.

But to add more MIKE ENGEL is a news anchor he host a TV and RADIO broadcast show, and he is obsessed with Wayne, wanting everything that Wayne has, and he eventually learns from REESE that Bruce Wayne is Batman and that is how he is going to reveal it on the air, but something prevents him from carrying out his announced plan.

Reese probably has protection from the police as he leaves the TV station because everyone knows he is the informant who is giving Engel the Batman identity. But maybe not??? It's all speculation.

We don't have them over here... I can't see how they can work together.

Like sex and mountain biking... Individually very exhilarating and lots of fun, but they don't work well together...

But I said that in my post!!! LOL

Not only was he on set but he had lots of scenes with Gordon apparently.

I know I said I'm glad we are finally in AGREEMENT in line 3????

Yea but you'll notice i conveniently edited that out when I quoted you!?

They're the main ones we aren't certain on... We even know more about Lau.. Kinda... In that he's an Asian accountant of some sort who does the books for the mob and in exchange for immunity from prosecution he does them all in?

Yeah we do know a lot about Lau, except why Wayne is doing business with him... unless he is DETECTING! :woot:

Really? I'm not 100% sure of this. How can Gordon keep his relationship with the Dark Knight under wraps if he has a friggin' bat-signal on the roof of the Gotham P.D.? I know Loeb isn't too happy about Batman, and I don't doubt the police possibly pursuing him in this film. I just don't know if Batman is entirely a "fugitive" here.

Maybe that's why he smashes it. If those reports are true, of course. :oldrazz:

I cannot believe I am the first to comment on this. This is really funny. I hate it when I crack a good one and no one responds... So I just wanted to let you know I laffed. Kudos.

I don't think Gordon smashes it. Most people who have seen the footage say its The Joker.

Most people saw an ax coming down on the bat signal and assumed it was the Joker. There was a set report on this site that came out a while before the WW footage, reporting that Gordon smashed the bat signal.

wow this is almost like that Hugo Strange story in the 90's where Batman is a fugitive and there's a police task force set out to get him. Hugo Strange is assigned to help the task force and work up a psych profile on Batman. He hypnotizes the cop who's leading the task force to become a vigilante type (i think he was called the night scourge or something like that) to go out at night and impersonate Batman and kill people.

So what if this Reese guy is like the leader of the task force and Engel is sorta playing the part of Strange? A tv celebrity/psychiatrist (like a demented Dr. Phil) with ulterior motives to ruin the name of the Batman and eventually expose and imprison him?

What? Never had a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup?

The greatest mix of peanut butter and chocolate candy I have ever had.

Michael Hall was absolutely perfectly cast as Nigma. Shame that the character couldn't of fit anywhere in the film. (Damn you, Nolan.)

Bah, you can do it on a bicycle built for two.

Right now there are LOTS of characters. This is really suprising because when it was announced that the Joker would be the sole bad guy I figured he and Bats would get the most screen time. But yeesh, Nolan keeps pulling more and more characters out of his ass. I hope we don't get overloaded with s**t.

Wasn't the Reese rumor dissmissed as false already?
