I'm all for Vogel, Evans, and Phillipe. I'll deal with Tatum if that's what we get.

so what is the full list and who do we officially know is out?

why are people surprised Tatum is on this list when Timberlake was a top 3 finalist for GL

I'm Vogel or Evans

Going off the "Cloverfield" crew, Michael Stahl-David, added 15 pounds of muscle, would have been a decent Cap.

Vogel or Phillippe for me.

Been pushing for Vogel for awhile now.

i would consider Campbell a better judge of talent than Johnson

and tatum auditioned for Thor if he was as bad as we think why has he been able to audition and be mentioned in 2 marvel movies?

totally i hope we hear from tatum/phillippe is out or declined to take the role. AS i said with wilson out evans/vogel are the best options left in my mind.

You're going to need it anyway from him going puny to Captain America-ish.
He's only going to be in puny form for a small part of this 9 picture deal so using CGI on that is not that much of a problem. Using the Ben Button tech for whoever is cast as Cap for evermore is a bit much. Too much of a waste of money when there are other people who don't need that. Although I think they're looking (or at least started to look) a bit too young for their Cap anyway.

Do we have some proof that it's Marvel forcing these corpses into the auditions?

Well he showed up for two Marvel films so either Marvel likes to hire people that are so bad that they think Tatum is a good choice or Marvel thinks Tatum is a good choice because he's popular.

Because he's bankable.

how are they casting to young when first news broke they wanted between 23-32. Cap in the comics is between that age when he started up/was frozen.

There in lies the problem.
Did you guys ever stop to think that maybe he wasn't bad at the audition? :wow:
That he may actually show some promise as an actor and contender for Cap?:wow::wow:

Even if you choose to not believe that, it's only auditioning. It doesn't mean he's a shoe in for the role or even if he really is being considered for the part. They could be using his name just to get some buzz for the movie.

We don't know.

sure we dont know how his test went or even if he has had his audition yet. Though i do hope we dont end up with tatum as cap, he should stick to gi joe and his other films.

It's Evans or Vogel for me. I wouldn't like Phillippe but I guess I could deal with him. Tatum would cause me to abandon all hope, but I'm not worried too much about that one, as I'm expecting JJ to give him the same treatment as Branagh (a screentest, then the boot).

We are arguing over semantics. Channing Tatum shouldn't step foot anywhere near a Marvel-film casting audition. He's "pop" part of the industry.

Branagh might as well come in and cast the damn thing.

*take a long look up and down Tatum*

"You sir, are a neanderthal. Why are you still here?"

*Branagh steps in and does audition better than Tatum*

The best man for the job is Valley since none of these young punks are capable of playing Cap.

I think most of us agree there, but I'm pretty sure his point was that the common denominator in both films Tatum's been considered in is Marvel, not Johnston. Tatum is so clearly a studio choice because A.) he is bankable, B.) he has "the look," and C.) JJ shared what he wanted for the role, and this wasn't it. Branagh shot Tatum down after a screentest, and there's no reason to think JJ won't do the same.

Unless Vogel gets the part, I think it's fair to say that JJ isn't getting the unknown that he wanted. Now what's left is that he has to make the best compromise from the choices the studio provides him. Either that, or a couple of his favorite "unknowns" were the unnamed actors mentioned by Deadline to be joining the race with Evans, and they could still have a shot. Which would basically lead to a repeat of what happened with Hemsworth, and I'd be perfectly happy with that.
