On the subject of Batman and Superman's dynamic (in the comics), James recently said that he loved how they were different in some respects but similar in others. So, I wouldn't be too concerned about getting anything even remotely close to what we saw in BvS.

There's actually a really cool panel from Tom King's Batman run that perfectly encapsulates what I'd expect to see from their relationship in the DCU.

yea man, something like this is what i'm talking about for the WF movie.

superman and batman being the tightest of bros.

maybe get some of that buddy cop dynamic. like chris tucker and jackie chan in rush hour. hahahaa.

I understand why people may be turned off by these extreme shots, but it actually makes sense why they do this for 2 specific reasons. The first being that comics artists exaggerate perspectives and use foreshortening all the time.

The second reason being that distorting the perspective on film gives the shot an added sense of intensity and chaos. Note how the shots with exaggerated perspective are always of someone going at extreme speeds. It's definitely a stylistic choice, but I actually dig it. In fact, MCU could learn a lil' something from this style especially when showcasing Mr. Fantastic's powers.

this is exactly what gunn is going for with superman flight angles here.

it's what he did with adam warlock in gotg 3 and i thought it looked visually dynamic and unique.
you can tell he was probably using warlock's visuals as practice for when he gets to direct superman.

Is social media that desperate for clicks that it has to make up a Superman vs F4 battle when there is plenty of room for both to make money in the summer. To me if Barbie and Oppenheimer can combine and make over 2 billion dollars, then Superman and F4 can possibly do the same. The movies are separated by two weeks. I for one will support both movies. I will be spending my 4th of July watching Jurassic Rebirth too.

There's an abundance of dollars available, but people might elect to see one instead of the other, VS Barbenheimer which might have had more overlapping business.

Of course they are doing that...you knew they would it is not out of desperation it is because they are competition for each other. They have done this with every DC and Marvel film that come out near each other. This is nothing like Barbie and Oppenheimer which were not the same audience at all.

Well supposedly Jurassic Rebirth is tracking at $100 million for the Fourth of July weekend, Superman has the presales lead for Fandango tickets in 2025, and Fantastic 4 is tracking for $125 million opening weekend. I think there is a chance they will together sell the most tickets in the history of July. Plenty of money to go around. Does not have to be a winner or a loser. Personally I am tired of studios being afraid to put movies out because of Marvel and Star Wars. We need more than one good movie a month. Especially in the summer.

If I HAD to choose, it would 100% be superman, but thankfully I don't have to choose, and I will be seeing both.
I imagine most people feel the same.

Good box offices by both films helps the entire genre.

I was just as excited for Man of Steel as I am for this Superman. I had all of the same feelings going into it in that "there's SO much promise and potential for good Superman stories."

After coming out of it, I wasn't as hopeful. I felt like tried to "Batmanize" Superman with the darkness and grit.

Then when they took it a step further by actually putting Batman into what I felt should've been a MOS sequel, that's when my hope died.

It's still a good watch, and probably my only favorite film of the DCEU, but IMHO it just doesn't have as much replay value as say, the first two Reeve movies.

i loved MOS after watching it, and i probably still enjoy it a lot as i thought it was a good start.
and i liked how they tried to do something different and made things more grounded and "dark" as they say. it differentiated it from the MCU and i thought that was bold, at the time.

then BvS was announced and i was cautiously optimistic because i had preferred a direct superman sequel instead.

then the first trailer for BvS was released, and while i was a bit hyped for it, something felt off. i couldn't really put my finger on what that feeling was. there was a feeling of trepidation in the back of my mind.

then when i watched in theaters, i was hugely disappointed. i couldn't believe how bad it was. it was the same feeling i had when i watched the matrix reloaded in theaters!

however, i did enjoy the extended cut and ZSJL, but to me - they're probably good DC elseworld movies, but are bad superman movies.

too niche to build a cinematic universe off of.

but man, right now, i am hugely optimistic about gunn's superman. my hype for this is through the roof, and it's been a long time since i felt this way about a superman film!

Man of Steel to me is the best Superman movie in live action. I thought Krypton would have been interesting if they explored it more. I liked Zod’s motives. Still believe he was the best villain in the DCEU. I will probably watch it this weekend. Diane Lane and Kevin Costner did it for me as the Kents. I know people hated the Kents for the way they raised Clark but I think that was realistic in a small town. It is gonna be tough for Gunn to match the action of the battle for Smallville. To me one of best action sequences I have ever seen on the big screen.

300 was Snyder’s best movie but battle scenes and action, Man of Steel was it….

Zod is probably still in the phantom zone in the DCU. Like Darksied he will probably be sidelined because of the DCEU.

I rewatched Man of Steel a little while ago. There's genuine good moments and I like the huge sense of scale and tragedy in the Metropolis fight... it's a vibe none of the Marvel movies have. But there's a lack of wit about the whole film. Cavill's hyper-sculpted frown looking the same fighing Zod as he does hugging his mom. The dumb destruction instantly undoing any coolness from the rescues and saves. The bad Goyer plotting in parts. It's earnest and big and I get why people like it, it's just missing one too many of my must-haves.
