Sequels The New Mutants - Josh Boone to Direct

No, he only wrote the script, it never had a director attached.

Lauren Shueller Donnor has spoken about doing new mutants in past so that also case for New Mutants.

New Mutants has a writer-director who has finished the first script by all accounts. That's not the same as a tentative interest.

Hmmm I think The New Mutants has a bigger chance of being made than X-Force simply because Josh Boone has a better track record and his first film was produced by Fox. Like I still have no plans in seeing the Fault in Our Stars but that was pretty successful at the box-office and to critics.

As for X-Force, I could see a team-up film with Deadpool/X-Force, they are like hitting two birds with 1 stone with that. Its Deadpool film #2 and at the same time, it would showcase the introduction to the X-Force team.

don't forget rumor has it.if deadpool is success the plan is to have cable in sequel.

The unknown factor here Is the stand miniseries and film.

If this is still on Boone's docket after The Stand, then it sounds like we may have to wait, as he is doing another movie before the Stand.

After seeing Deadpool, all I can think of is the New Mutants. NTW's uniform was so ****ing good :hmr:. I don't even care about Deadpool 2. I just need to see the team wearing that.

Huh. What that makes me think is that Fox isn't ready to make his New Mutants film just yet. Taking on a completely different project when he's still on this one might mean this one isn't far enough along. Technically I think Boone is still attached to that Anne Rice vampire thing, too. That one's unlikely to materialize, imo. I wonder if Fox is waiting to see how Apocalypse does before they pull the trigger on New Mutants. Deadpool 2 is almost certainly a 2018 film, and if Apocalypse does huge numbers they may want a new X-Men team film in 2018. That would likely mean they wouldn't need New Mutants until 2019. If it underperforms a bit maybe they'd want something different in 2018 (New Mutants, perhaps with a Deadpool connection?). I suppose you also have to consider the possibility of Apocalypse flopping. That scenario might see them scrapping New Mutants altogether, possibly focusing on Deadpool (X-Force?) and some sort of reboot/revamp/thingie.

Don't mean to be a Negative Nancy, but after watching Deadpool I'm way less excited about Apocalypse and far more excited about the future spin-offs and the possibility of seeing them as faithful as Deadpool was.

that uniform is sooo nice. I can't believe they gave it to us in a spinoff. Very excited for NM as well and I can't wait to see Moonstar and the language guy (I forgot his name), but I hope it's a line-up of about 4 or 5 new mutants. Not too crowded. I wonder what the plan is.

Karma, Dani, Sam, Sunspot, Wolfsbane and Illyana. Isn't that the first New Mutants line up in the comics?

I think 6 is a good number.

If Revival doesn't happen, Boone could perhaps leap straight into New Mutants? Fox might be wanting to get it done quicker now that Deadpool has taken off. But at the same time, perhaps they learned now to rush these things out at the expense of quality, so it might also be a while until Boone and co. are absolutely ready to take on a franchise.

Until then, we still have Gambit, Wolverine III and Deadpool 2 so I think we'll be fine in the present for awhile.

Boone might simply care about doing a King adaptation more than New Mutants. I know he likes New Mutants, but he LOVE Stephen King. Interesting that he jumped straight from one King adaptation to another. Maybe his take on The Stand was really good but outside factors got it canned (theoretically they may not have wanted to compete with The Dark Tower, which happens to prominently feature a character also featured in The Stand).

Whats the rush? The world is not ending after 2018( I hope)They are dealing with multiple franchises in the same universe now. The films should/will be spread out through 2020 and beyond.

At least one X-film a year from now on I hope.

Haha I was hoping 2 movies/year :D Maybe Deadpool 2 & New Mutants in 2018, X-Men & X-Force 2019 :)

Where has she been lately? There aren't many statements from her anymore. She usually spills the beans about the cool stuff coming.

She doesn't seem to have been very involved with Deadpool, so she hasn't been at any press junkets. She'll probably be around when X-Men: Apocalypse will be released, and will spill the beans on future projects.

I'm curious to see what the roster will be.

Do they go the classic NM roster: Moonstar, Cannonbal, Karma, Sunspot ect

or do they use those guys for X-Force (since they were the OG X-Force in the comics) and go a more modern NXM/YXM roster all X-23, Hellion, Mercury, Surge ect.

I have my doubts about sunspot being apart of it because it's possible they are going younger with the age of the characters as they said it's a movie about Young mutants and cannonball will depend on if the listing on IMDb for a character called sam in X-Men: apocalypse ends up being cannonball which may put him out of the line up

Sunspot is young too, he's like 14 in New Mutants. I don't see why they would exclude him. And I wouldn't mention DOFP as the example - Deadpool and Apocalypse prove that X-Men movies don't really care about ignoring continuity for the sake of using a character - not just Colossus but Jubilee.

Agreed! 1 X-Men film a year is actually great.:jd:

I just remember the days where we had to wait 3 years for another X-Men film, that felt like :ff:ever! But now that isn't case anymore, we are getting 2 films this year, in 2017 and in 2018! And thats just amazing!

No. The first lineup was Cannonball, Sunspot, Wolfsbane, Karma and Dani. Illyana was added later.

I definitely would go with a lineup of those 4 minus Karma, whom Ive never found interesting and she has a boring power. I'd swap her out and either add Cypher/Warlock or Illyana. Going with either could easily dictate Magus or Belasco as the big bad of the film

I don't see Warlock appearing in the film.... if he ever makes it.... he would look totally different and not an alien.

that would be a shame bc I can easily see him becoming a fan favorite with the audience. He could be the appealing comic relief with his quirky and odd self trying to adapt to Earth life.

If he were to ever be included he would be alien looking. I mean thats what he is. No point in even adapting him if he doesnt retain elements of the Phalanx.

He would look closer to a real human and not a robotic humanoid.
