Okay... I dont know where Winick is going with his anymore. But I totally did not see the climax of this issue coming! Very weird, but nice to see some GA archery action finally.

Yeah, that ending was a bit of a surprise. And the preview for Issue #8 says that GA/BC will cross paths with Ra's Al Ghul, too. I have no idea how those two threads will tie together.

But, overall I liked this issue. Again, the best parts were where Winick just lets the characters interact with each other. For all his faults as a writer, he's done a pretty good job in this series with the banter between Ollie and Dinah and it's that kind of character-driven stuff that will keep me buying this book.

That and Cliff Chiang. I really, really like his artwork in this series. (Can anybody recommend some of his other work?)

Looks like Mike Norton is not only doing issue #7, but will also be the regular artist from that point onwards. Anyone got any samples of his so we can see what he's made of? I tried google image and there wasnt much that gave a good idea. A Blue Beetle sketch that seemed the right kinda thing, but that was about it.

I wouldnt say its a stupid Katana. He's generally a robin hood themed hero (but with howard hughes elements), and robin hood often used a sword. Plus, GA was right in the flashback of OYL - his bow skills just arent enough to cut it in the world he lives and fights in. He should be one of the best martial artists and weaponeers in the DCU - cos he has absolutely no powers. He doesnt have the tech or the brains of Bats. He doesnt have a sonic scream when his skills arent quite enough like Dinah. He has an amazing skill, but he's not always shooting distance from an opponent, and swiping his bow at them only works so often when the guy he's fighting is superpowered, or a member of the league of assassins or something.

I'm convinced Ollie's becoming a better fighter and taking on more ninja-esque aspects was just another part of Winick's obvious vendetta against Connor Hawke. Take everything good and unique about Connor, apply it to Ollie, and then kill Connor off. He's finally succeeded in his quest, goddamn him.

I just read the first 6 issues of the GA/BC series. Really nice stuff. Can't wait to see where it goes.

Yeah, Winick has a tendency of being rather good at first whenever he's on a book, but then he gets really old and stale and you want him to leave but he just keeps on staying and overstaying his welcome while you wish that Gail Simone takes over for him.
