We want her because it's a Green Arrow/Black Canary comic, and she writes an awesome Black Canary.

Actually, she did. She hasn't written Dinah since she left BOP somewhat 2-3 years ago.

Still, having Gail Simone write Black Canary is like having Chuck Dixon write Robin. Nobody does it better.

Of course, let's hope my analogy doesn't hold so much water that Gail Simone gets fired the next time she does write for Dinah.

Eh, I think we can get a better writer for this title. What is Beechen up to?:o

God, then we'd end up with Connor joining the League of Assassins. You know, assuming Winick isn't already planning that.

Are you kidding? I doubt Winick thinks Connor's skilled enough to even sneeze at the League of Assassins. I mean, he's no super-badass martial artist like Ollie Queen, am I right? No, I think Connor will be doing his best impression of a lifeless corpse for the duration of Winick's run. :o

I think the last issue was pretty poor ... again. It was just a big fight. Characters just say what they are supposed to say, and act like they are supposed to act.I re-read the previous issues and it seemed to me that it would have been much better to mix 2 issues in 1.

I think I may finally just give up on any hopes of a turn around in this arc and drop the book until the new writer (whoever that may be) comes aboard.

Who in the heck is that? I very much do not feel good about DC bringing in more untested writers from other mediums onto big books like this.

How are the sales on this series so far? I've just recently picked up issue 8 and still need to get the first 7 (i'm behind) But I was just wondering if they were going even or declining.

From what Mike told me, I don't think we're going to see much of Connor in the coming months. But that's from what he heard as of last month.

That's what I said when Kevin Smith was slated to write Quiver. Now I'm a fan.

Don't know why but I always thought the green arrow was one of the weakest superheros of all...

He kinda is. He has no superpowers. He has less gadgets, fighting skills, and education than Batman.

Green Arrow is like Robin Hood. All he needs is a handy sword, a quiver full of arrows, his above-average fighting skills, and a band of merry sidekicks (Dinah, Mia, Connor, and Roy).

Him being one of the weakest and relatively less trained than other non-powered heroes is what makes him such a good hero. He's the example of what one man can do with only what he's got. The scene with Merlyn just before OYL explains it best.

What books do I need to start w/ ?

I'm ordering Green Arrow Quiver, Sounds of Violence & The Longbow Hunters

Longbow Hunters is a much older book, so I guess you should start with that one.

Then Quiver. Then Sounds of Violence.

Though Longbow hunters is from a much darker time when Ollie was slipping a bit and becoming more distant from everything. Quiver was really the reinvention of the character.

For a definitive origin book however, Diggle and Jock can't be beat. I'd be more than happy if it was made the cannon origin and the old one wiped out. It was just that good.

Good point. It's just that he seems very...

....beatable.

He is very beatable. In fact, he was beaten by the bad guys several times in his own book. That's part of Green Arrow's appeal; there's always a good chance he'll lose, so you never know how his storylines are going to end.
