Oh, I was totally thinking of Superboy, not Connor Hawke. Yeah, Connor regaining a bit of the spotlight would be great, but I wouldn't hold my breath. DC seems to love messing with him more than anything else. I'm just waiting for them to go ahead and kill him off at this point.

I believe that the award for "Character that DC Messes Up More Than Anyone Else" would go to Cassandra Cain and not Connor Hawke.

I don't know what you're talking about. Cassandra Cain left Lady Shiva hanging over a Lazarus Pit and went off to become her own woman. She hasn't been seen since.

It's more the fact that his father banged her too that bugs me, as opposed to the assassin bit. Although she did corrupt him to the point that he killed someone in spite of his pacifist ways.

Just to point out, Shado raped Ollie. There was nothing romantic about that particular encounter.

What's really sad is that the mini-series all this came from was quite good outside of those two elements.

I am forced to wonder why anyone would live in Star City. This marks the second time that it has been destroyed utterly.

That puts it two up on both Gotham and Coast City.

A good point there...Superman and Flash could have it rebuilt in less than a second.

Though in truth, superheroes in the DCU could make the world a paradise in roughly the time it would take to order Chinese take out. However they have much more important things to do. Like beating up people in strange costumes

Well when I said paradise I didn't mean any one persons idea of a paradise, just a generally good place to live.

The Purple Ray and magic means that they should be able to heal all illnesses and injuries. Eliminating the worlds dependence on fossil fuels, preventing wars and genocides, ensuring that freedom prevails the world over...such tasks should be fairly simple, given the powers and abilities at their disposal

I know the old adage about how "Power corrupts" but even I, a self confessed cynic, do find it rather unbelievable the way that in all the Elseworlds where they try to do this it either fails outright or the heroes become dictators forcing the world to kneel before them

I remember in the Cable & Deadpool comic, Cable had full access to his near-Phoenix level powers, and decided to use them to make the world a better place. He never became corrupted by his power, but his many altruistic acts rattled enough cages for SHIELD, the X-Men, and the Silver Surfer to stop him just in case he ever went too far.

Then again, ordinary people in the Marvel Universe are more inclined to be evil than the DC Universe, so I don't know if that sense of paranoia applies.
