Comics the "new" Venom thread

I don't expect Bizarro-Venom to be a recurring (re-ocurring?) character. I think this story will either bring old Venom back or cement New Venom's status, and Bizarro-Venom is here to keep us guessing what will happen with Eddie, Gargan, and the symbiote.

In a bit of unrelated news, I just got done reading What If V2 31 "Spidey had kept the Power Cosmic". He fights Venom, and Brock refers to his own symbiote as "she". WTF?

Spider-Man: No, it can't be! Venom!
Bizarro-Venom: I'm not Venom! I'm Bizarro-Venom!!
Spider-Man: Don't you mean "we?" "We're" not Venom?
Bizarro-Venom: No, "I"! Don't you know anything about "Bizarro" language?

Maybe that's why it's always angry. It's PMSing!:woot:

Sorry. I couldn't resist that joke.

It was said in Spider-Girl's 100th issue that the symbiote as a "she." Grant it, it's not the same "earth" but they seem to wrapping the two closer together lately.

I wonder what Brock's reaction is going to be when he finds out about this new Symbiote.

maybe the same as ours:
"another one?
didn't we get a lot of that already?"
As I have said, this Symbiote really can be great and better than recent one's. We just have to wait and see if it works.

that design hurts my eyes

seriously i'm a huge fan of venom, carnage and toxin but that should be it, no more. get them in the hands of a decent writer and give them a story they deserve

I'm guessing that the "new" symbiote is merely a new look for the original one... with everything pointing its way to this "new" Venom being a rebirth of the "old" Venom with Eddie inside the symbiote, perhaps it's a rebirth of sorts...

Seeing as how the original Venom has been ruined, I wouldn't be surprised if this is where they go, considering the writing talent on board, this could be a fabulous new era for Venom/Eddie Brock.

Themanofbat, I share these thoughts, too.

I'm thinking this can be a fresh new start for Venom, as I said I've been a fan of Venom for years even when the going got rough. But if they can start over, I think they should take the opportunity. Like I said before, I'm willing to start reading 616 again, and this could be a good starting point.

I think they should take the opportunity, too. I mean, it's been a while since we saw Brock as Venom and have actually enjoyed Venom, so I'm hoping that we get that awesome feeling or atleast something like that feeling when Anti-Venom debuts in ASM tihs coming august.

I have to say I don't dig the design of this "New" Venom, but I'll give it a shot anyway. I think if they should bring back any symbiote at all, I think I would like it to be Toxin, because I think he had a lot of potential in his mini-series (although the villains were kind of lame in my opinion...). But anyway I hope that this new Venom isn't Eddie...I don't know, I just think that having Brock with a symbiote isn't Venom. Venom is Eddie and the "original" symbiote and their mutual hatred for Spider-Man. But if this new venom is Eddie, I hope he'll reclaim his symbiote by the end of the story arc, but it's just my opinion

Hmm...dunno how I feel about this. If it's Brock underneath that, Brock as Anti-Venom can kill Gargan for all I care and start doing something besides slitting his wrists. If it's Gargan, though, I hope Brock still kills him. I just don't like Gargan. Period. If this new symbiote allows them to start from square one with the concept, by all means. Otherwise, they should keep this a short tale.

Really, I don't care. I'm of the opinion that only a few things will survive once the staff makes BND completely moot. This won't be one of them, unless something great is done.

Well, I always liked Gargan/Venom in Thunderbolts, but that was because of Ellis's writing. I mean, I never cared for Radioactive Man, either, but Ellis did it for me. And outside of Ellis's Thunderolts (Marvel Kinghts, Beyond!, Spider-Man Family) Gargan/Venom has been a joke!

Well, I read Thunderbolts: Reason in Madness. It had a Gargan/Venom who, while not as interesting as Ellis's, was nice to read about. And yet, it was a filler story. So even when Gargan/Venom does good outside of the Thunderbolts title, its forgettable.

I thought his best moment was in choosing sides. That Gargan/Venom was just all sorts of badass.

um...wow. you guys can't be serious...ANTI-VENOM? wouldn't that be...good venom?
talk about an EPIC failure. I wish it were an ANTI-failure.
is it me or does dan slott have a thing for negative villians lately?

It might be interesting to have Venom as a villain and Anti-Venom as an anti-hero, now that I think about it. It would deal with the ongoing issue with Venom's character without pissing off fans of either version of Venom.

...yea I thought that would be pretty cool as well.
but for some reason I feel another hyped up story that will piss off fans coming on....look at there track record of hyped stories.

The other.
OMD.

and thats just 2 examples from a long list

both are prime example of really horrible story telling. but to tell you the truth I don't expect Horrible from Dan slott. he's still a really good writer.

Ditto for me, honestly I'm just hoping for a new beginning to make ol' toothy interesting again and to give him some needed growth. I just want Brock to be used and developed; I'm a Venomite, but it kinda makes me shed a manly symbiote tear :hehe: ahem when people start to rag heavily on Venom, hopefully this can give him some ammo and make people either like him or just decide he's not their cup of tea.

Well we are already getting Venom Dark Origins, so they might try to make him more interesting that way. Also, this new Anti-Venom could very well be a good guy, who knows perhaps they'll tie him to Eddie some how, but yeah the design is a bit odd for a Venomish character. Personally, I don't think Spidey comics needed a new Venom-character. But how much more bad could this really do eh?

Yeah, I mean really no ones complaining about this new Goblin called Menace, like we didn't had enough of Goblins already. But whatever, let's see how it turns out.

Looks like I was right guys...the new sypnosis slightly indicates this new venom will be a good guy of some sort...
