That aside tho, it honestly doesn't matter. If you enjoy your console then what's it matter what others think.

I keep hearing ppl say on the Hype that they know 20 ppl who hated their PS3's and resold them on Ebay and blah blah, but honestly...I enjoy mine. Their are enough games to keep me busy, and I can always go back and play a PS2 game if I want with BC. The PS store keeps up on demos and videos, I watch BR movies on it, and even right now I'm using it to type this instead of my comp. I'm happy with my purchase, I got my monies worth, to me it honestly doesn't matter what others say.

The same with the 360. I'm not an X-box fan, but most ppl seem to enjoy it, and think it was worth their money, so great for them. All the, "WTF how can you like x console, I mean I like the other console, you like what I hate, you gotta be a ******" talk just comes off as childish anymore. IMO if you are having fun on a console it's not an expensive paperweight. The PS3's line up looks great this year, I'm happy.

EA Predicts PS3 will outsell Xbox 360

Electronic Arts has predicted that the Wii will remain the dominant platform in the West in 2008, but that the PS3 will enjoy better sales than the 360.

According to sales predictions issued by EA, the Wii will continue to dominate hardware sales in both North America and Europe, predicting that Nintendo’s console will sell between 12 and 14 million units during 2008.

However, the race for second place looks like it will be an interesting one, with the PS3 predicted to sell between 9.5 and 11.5 million units in the West this year, whereas the 360 will “only” manage 6-8 million during the same timeframe.

It seems that this shift in fortunes is going to be down to Europe. According to EA’s predictions, 5-6 million PS3s will be sold in Europe this year, compared to 6.5-7.5 million Wiis and 1.5-2.5 million 360s.

In North America, EA reckons the both the 360 and PS3 will sell around 4.5-5.5 million units each, while the Wii will sell around a million more.

More importantly, with EA forecasting that only 3.9-4.9 million PS2s will be sold this year in the West – noticeably less than the next-gen formats – it seems that the games market is well on its way to moving on from the last generation of console.

As long as the PS3 can put out some good quality games the likes of Gears of War and Halo 3, and Microsoft stops putting out games like Gears of War and Halo 3 then yea, i dont see why it couldnt really give the 360 a run for its money.

It's pretty simple math, really: since America's economy has slowed down, we've become less relevant as the primary consumers of expensive things, like video game systems. Since Europe is still Sonyland, PS3's popularity there has taken a sizeable chunk out of 360's global sales. At any rate though, it's good to see Sony climbing back to the top. I kind of doubt that PS3 is going to catch up with Wii (the thing is so cheap and popular with casuals that it's probably impossible), but I can certainly see it realistically coming out as the #1 hardcore system over the next year.

Not really since the entire global economy is pretty much slowing down.

THIS NEWS IS VERY UNSURPRISING TO ME, JUST BECAUSE OF THE SIMPLE FACT THAT SONY HAS SOLD OVER 120 MILLION PS2 UNITS!!! NOW I KNOW THAT DOESN'T MEAN MUCH TO SOME PEOPLE IN THE SITUATION THEY'RE IN NOW WITH THE PS3!!! BUT HONESTLY THINK ABOUT IT, IF A LITTLE LESS THAN HALF OF THOSE PEOPLE, I PERSONALLY THINK IT WOULD BE MORE, MOVE ON TO ADOPT THE PS3 AS THEIR NEXT CONSOLE THAT IS STILL AROUND 50 MILLION, 50 MILLION!!! SOME WILL SAY, WELL THEY HAVE A CHOICE AND CAN GO WITH A DIFFERENT SYSTEM AND THAT'S TRUE, BUT MOST WOULD, I THINK, DO WHAT I DID!!! ALL OF MY FAVORITE FRANCHISES ARE ON THE PLAYSTATION CONSOLES, WHICH MOST PEOPLE HAVE AND THE CORE OF THOSE GAMES ARE STILL EXCLUSIVE TO THE SYSTEM!!! ALLOT OF THOSE PEOPLE, MYSELF INCLUDED CHOSE THE PLAYSTATION SYSTEMS FOR THEIR VARIETY IN GAMES AND ANYONE WHO'S HAD ONE KNOWS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, TO ME IT JUST MAKES LOGICAL SENSE TO WANNA MOVE ON TO THE NEXT LEVEL!!!;):D:up:

I suppose that the big thing keeping the PS2 userbase on the fence in regards to the PS3 would be the price. Most people bought PS2 when it was lowered to $200 or less, and PS3's cheapest SKU is still $400. However, if the rumors of the 40GB PS3 dropping to $300 are true, this will give PS3 even more momentum than it already has.

I never really bought into the notion though that the bulk of PS2's userbase sees Xbox 360 as the same as PS3 but cheaper. People know what brands they like and which ones they don't, which would explain why Xbox 360 has had a very sluggish performance so far even though it was cheaper than PS3, had better games, and came out a year earlier.

Basically, people are willing to wait for this

and aren't distracted by this

Even though Sony practically gave MS the console war on a silver platter by launching PS3 a year later than them, for $200 more and with only one good game, Microsoft is still losing ground to PS3. I think that's very telling of the power of the Playstation brand name.

YEAH, I READ THIS A FEW HOURS AGO, IT'S AWESOME NEWS FOR SONY CONSIDERING ALL THE CRAP THEY'VE GOTTEN FROM ALL THE FANBOYS/FANGIRLS AND THE MEDIA THIS PAST YEAR!!! I MEAN MY DAD, MY MOM, MY DEAD DOG, COUSINS WHO ONLY VISIT TO STEAL MY MONEY, WHF, PURPLE PANSY, GFREEMAN, XTRO(I LOVE YOU GUYS),:D ALL THESE CRAZY PEOPLE I DON'T EVEN LIKE, HAVE GIVEN SONY SO MUCH CRAP THIS YEAR!!! I MEAN IT'S GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE IF I WERE TO SOMEHOW END UP IN XTRO, GFREEMAN, PURPLE PANSY OR WHF IS HOUSE I WOULD INSTANTLY GO INTO A BLIND RAGE AND EAT THEIR XBOX 360!!!:o:oldrazz::D

Awww... You shouldn't have. That's the sweetest thing to ever come out of a guy who uses all caps and bolds their entire messages' mouth.

:csad:

Did he say "since the 3D era"?

thats pretty interesting that EA would say that considering the 360 outsells the PS3 when it comes to EA's software and that EA has been having problems with the system when it comes to its sports titles

Haven't had a Steak-um in awhile, never see them in the grocery store anymore. I always made them like a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich tho. Sautee onions, chop up some green peppers in long strips, and so on.

That's something I do sometimes too, but I didn't have any grinder rolls availible, and I was too lazy to cook some onions. I'd never tried putting A1 on a sandwich before today, but I'm glad I did, because it's friggin' delicious.

What the hell is a steak-um?
IT SOUNDS LIKE CAMEL EXCREMENT! :cmad:

Don't knock it till you've tried it. :o

BTW, the chartz are looking even better for PS3 now.

I am positive that PS3 is gonna pass Xbox 360 this year.

Is it really so hard to fathom? PS3 is speeding up, while Xbox 360 is slowing down. On a road, that's when a pass occurs. It's the same with console sales.

Notice, this is not 360 vs PS3 rant, but a comparision...

Sony sucks!
There is no other way to put it, and no, it´s not because Microsoft *rules*, it´s just common sense.
Sony has an incredible lack of disrespect for the consumer, more even than Microsoft.
I had a PS1 and PS2, and the problem was already there, i just didn´t thought twice because it was the only console i had, now it´s not, and the Sony´s disrespect is ridiculous.
The difference on the PSN of content and delays is ridiculous, you don´t have half those problems in the 360.
Games like PAIN get a release in the US on the 29 Nov and they haven´t still arrive in Europe, Cash Guns Chaos arrived on the US store in 17 Nov 2006 and haven´t still arrive to Europe, Blast Factor released in 17 Nov 2006, arrived to Europe 4 month later, on 23 March.
The same can be said the other way around (but not very common), Championship Sprint was released in Europe on the 29 June 2007 and it´s waiting for the US release.
It´s fricking ridiculous, more even when Europe is the Playstation greatest asset.
XBLA games arrive the same day, same time, EVERYWHERE.
Now, let´s the look at retail games, and the same crap happens, games take too damn long to arrive to Europe (Ok, not all games, but plenty), when on the 360, it does´t happen that often, usually games arrive with one week diference.
Delays will always happen, it´s stupid, but that´s the way it goes, but Sony´s exaggerates.
Even the console was delayed.....
And the funny thing is, Europe loves it to death...only God knows why.
I still remember God of War 2, that was released in Europe 3 or 4 month after the US.
There are still PS2 games (don´t remember which) that Kotaku announced coming to Europe almost a year after the US.
Un-fu**ing-believable

Now, i can wait for a game, i still buy a lot of games released 2 or 3 year ago (on the PC i still buy and play games released in 2000 and love it), but enough is enough.
How can Europe be a***aped by Sony and love it is beyond me

I´ll get a PS3 this year, this might sound strange, but i will, because more important the any platform are the games, and that´s why i´ll buy it eventually, but i would laugh my ass off if Sony closes doors tomorrow (the gaming of course).
I hate Sony.
And just to make things clear, this is not about the 360, i can´t care less about MS at this moment, this is about the crappyness that is Sony.

Saying that, yeah, i see Sony winning this war, at least, winnig to Microsoft.
They don´t deserve it one bit (ony if they change policy), but they will, because the Playstation name is hard to beat.
But the difference will not be all that, you can be sure, so, the question is, will they have legs to beat MS next gen, from the top of my head, if they don´t change policy...NO.
I read somewhere during 2006 that Microsoft had a 3 phase plan for the Xbox brand (don´t remember where, just know it was online and i can´t find it).
1st phase (Xbox) was the let people know what they could do and gather a fanbase (they did it); 2nd phase (360) was to consolidate and grow (they are doing that extremely well, by having games that didn´t had the first time around, like Jap RPGs and Japonese developers support); 3rd phase (720?) is the one to win the market.
Looking back, and looking at how they delivered what they said, yeah, i see that happening.

Is it really so hard to fathom? PS3 is speeding up, while Xbox 360 is slowing down. On a road, that's when a pass occurs. It's the same with console sales.

The PS3 is still behind by around 7-8 million units... Unless the 360 sells absolutely NO units this year, there is no way this will happen. Well, if your logic is based in reality, that is. VGChartz, as ever, is STILL unreliable.

Plus, I can easily see the 360 seeing another price drop this year, which will mean a boon in sales as it reaches closer to the market clearing price.

EA gives their estimates for European sales in 2007

680px-EEA.svg.png

Nintendo DS: 8.7 million
Wii: 4.8 million
Playstation 2: 3.8 million
Playstation Portable: 3.1 million
Playstation 3: 2.8 million
Xbox 360: 1.9 million

And they predict Europe's sales for 2008:
Nintendo DS: 7 million
Wii: 7 million
Playstation 3: 5.5 million
Playstation Portable: 3 million
Xbox 360: 2 million
Playstation 2: 1.95 million

PS3 is going to outsell the 360 by 3.5 million in EU? That seems like a rather chancy prediction.

250px-NorthAmerica.png

NPD's North America numbers:

Nintendo DS: 8.5 million
Wii: 6.29 million
Xbox 360: 4.62 million
Playstation 2: 3.97 million
Playstation Portable: 3.82 million
Playstation 3: 2.56 million
Game Boy Advance: 1.12 million

360 outsold PS3 by 2.05 million? Makes sense. Though, I find it interesting that EA thinks that they're both going to sell the same amount in NA this year. NA has been 360 all the way (aside from the Wii, obviously)

The PS3 will outsell the 360 in Europe this year, that´s a given.
If it will as big a difference as 3.5 million...i don´t know, i don´t think so, i´m expecting more of 2 million the most, but anything can happen.
If you look at VG Chartz, you´ll realize anything can go.

Units sold in Europe
Wii: 6.046.962
X360: 4.300.636
PS3: 3.523.506

The 360 is winning by a very small margin, and it´s like this in most of Europe, except Spain (UK is the right opposite).

SPAIN: http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?con...360&reg3=Spain&start=39467&end=39474&weekly=1
UK: http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?con...3=X360&reg3=UK&start=39467&end=39474&weekly=1

There are more countries like Spain (i don´t know the numbers in Portugal, but i know for a fact that the PS3 is smashing the 360).
The blames goes to MS because (and i talk about Portugal, but i bet many countries are like this), there is no advertising for the 360, only the PS3 and, in a smaller case, the Wii.
