Whose Liam James? He looks promising!
He was in "The Way, Way Back" surprisingly good movie imo, if you're interested you should definitely check it out.
I'm just going to say this, Marvel has to be careful when picking this SPider-Man. They pretty much struck gold with Daredevil in Charlie Cox, something that both the GA and comic book fans can agree on, but it seems like newcomer to the MCU Aaron Taylor Johnson seems to be a miss for the GA, whereas the comic book fans seem to like him. The GA tend to like the Quicksilver from DOFP, even though comic book fans don;t like him because he is nothing like the comics.

So who will win this debate in the end, something for the GA or something for the comic book fans?

The best way to do it is to cast an actor that both the General Audience and Comic fans can root for.

They're gonna go for something for the GA because they're more open minded when it comes to casting, and more willing to give the actor a chance then fans are.

That said, whoever they pick, Marvel's got this. No question. Ultimately they're taking the long view of the actors potential and on the franchise as opposed to worrying about the temporary dissatisfaction of fans with the casting choice.

I don't think thats the case AT ALL. The GA has no idea that the fast dude in Avengers and the one in X-Men is the same. They probably seem like completely different characters and they essentially are. The only people comparing them are the comic book fans.

The GA generally doesn't care about casting... its only the comic book fans that truly pay attention. The GA will probably watch the movie as long as the guy is handsome, especially since its a Marvel franchise. Sad truth.

Now, I don't think AJT is a miss with the GA either. There hasn't been any negative response, it's just that he doesn't particular standout, especially since the movie is overcrowded (in an awesome way?) to begin with, and he takes a backseat to Scarlet Witch throughout the movie. I think he's a good casting and hope to see more of him in the future.

Please No to Asa Butterfield. He looks like a little boy that haven't reach puberty yet.

Yep. That's why i don't want him:o

That's how 15-16 look. Hollywood has been warping perception by decades of casting 20 somethings in the role. Look at the picture of a the 15 year DOB, he looks 10.

I swear to God, some people in here sound like they don't even step outside. 15 year old Dylan's high school pic seemed to shock everyone (for some odd reason), but suddenly, they're gone back to saying the same old "Asa looks like a 5 year old" and "Dylan looks totally 15".

Not trying to say my opinion is better than anyone else's, but I'm 15 years old and go to school with 15 year olds five days a week. When I look at these actors, I think of who would stand out the least sitting in my classroom. And that's Asa. Asa looks like a 15 year old definitely. Does he have the ability to play Spidey, idk. But he looks the part. Same with Chalamet to some degree.

I don't see what the eye roll is for. I'm not saying he has an ugly face or anything, it's just that even if he's a decent actor, teeth that say "hey I spent a year on an bricks n poo diet" are just too distracting

Besides, I think you're being hypocritical here. If Liam had a big rotting boil on his forehead I don't think you would be too kind to him potentially being picked

Ah, I thought you were implying something else, my bad.

Liam James was also in Roland Emmerich's 2012

A couple of years ago, I met a 16 year old boy who was short and had a very boyish face, he could pass for 13.
I could be wrong but in my experience, the only teenagers who look older are those who live a more physical life and work hard. I know a farmer and both of his sons were tall and masculine in their mid-teens.

You'll never please everyone. People have different perceptions of what a 15-16 year old should look like. That's what makes this casting so difficult. You want experience, yet you want them to look the part. It can't be a perfect balance, the scale will always tip one way.

I wish they'd dump the dumb idea of making him 15-16 to begin with, but obviously they have their plan and aren't going to change it for me. I don't see the reason to bring him back to High School, it's not the least bit interesting to me. But it is what it is. Spider-Boy is what they want, that's what we'll get.

I can't get over those chompers...
