Leave Billy alone. He obviously isn't getting the role, but let him and his fans have fun with it

I feel like anyone who says "They've already cast Spider-Man" also think that it's Dylan that they cast. I personally think that Sneider was correct when he said that they need Spider-Man on set in June, which means they didn't have to cast Spidey before shooting starts this week. I'm going to say that screentests will start very soon (as it says in the article), and we'll know who Spider-Man is this week or next week.

It's not new for cast members to be added after principal photography begins.

This deal was only finalised 2 months ago. Unless Sony signed off on the first person Feige mentioned to them sight-unseen, there's no possible way the role is already cast.

And no, Marvel could not have gone out and found someone for the role earlier than 2 months ago because they are not the license holders of the Spider-Man character.

I guarantee you Marvel was looking for actors way back in November when the talks first started. The minute the deal was finalized, they almost certainly has a shortlist ready to compare notes with Sony.

His page is being flooded with #BillyUngerForSpider-Man...his cover photo is changed to Spidey...

Didn't realize he was campaigning hard, after hearing it here...

Which is really pathetic to be honest, and will not get him the role.

ugh...i'm hoping this is just him knowing nothing and thinking he can make a difference.

If they really are planning to start screen tests soon, specifically for those five names, then what happens when they want their Spidey for June and they're left unimpressed with the screen tests of these guys?

I'm one of those people, and I don't see how it can't be possible.

This is not the same deal that was being discussed back in November.

Even if it were the same deal, though, Marvel jumping the gun and trying to find an actor for a role for which they do not control the licensing rights while in the midst of trying to negotiate for the ability to use said character would be extremely unprofessional and illegal behavior, and would kill said negotiations faster than almost anything else I can think of.

I would probably prefer Billy Unger to the names on the 'shortlist' which is saying something because I watched a scene of 'Lab Rats' and almost broke my neck cringing. Incidentally that Mateus Ward was also in the scene and was the villain. How people believe he was in contention for the role is beyond me.

Because a scooper reported it. That's why people believed it.

:whatever: I'm sorry, but where do you get this? Fiege has clearly stated that way back in November they knew exatly what they would do if the deal went through. There is no reason to think that wouldn't include what actors they liked in the role.

It could be possible, but I find it incredibly unlikely. Especially now that we know that they are actively looking for people and will be screen testing soon.

How much REAL acting talent does Billy Unger have?
Don't come running with stuff like "he's convincing as a science geek" or "he's got sarcasm and wit, he's a good at jokes and he's a motormouth".

The original deal would've seen Sony basically annexing Spider-Man to Marvel and taking a role similar to that of Paramount on the early MCU Phase One movies.

This new deal, however, is far more of a lease agreement wherein Sony retains complete control of its licensing rights to Spider-Man while allowing Marvel to lease the character and, in exchange, asking Marvel to help them completely rejuvenate the Spider-Man property and allow them to piggyback on the MCU.

The original deal also didn't include merchandising rights to the Spider-Man character for Marvel.

I think people have said asked similar things about o'brien.

how do we know this? how do we know they haven't cast already?
Variety, the same people everyone trusted when they mentioned Dylan and Logan, and the same people no one trusted when they mentioned a list of actors that didn't include them.

Answer this. What happens if they're left unimpressed with the actors' screen tests?
