:( Dylan is not going to get this role and I honesty feel really sorry for the people campaigning for him. (I'm not trying to be sarcastic)

If that is the case and he won't get it, they only have themselves to blame for getting their hopes up when we've gotten enough stuff stating that someone like him, Lerman, Highmore, etc. won't get the role.

15? Certainly not.
16? Nope.
17? That'd be pulling an Andrew Garfield again.
18? He'd be graduating.
19? College.

Sure the way he acted those few months ago was suspicious, but I took it as he and those other names were possibilities at that point up until the 15-16 comment was made.

Who knows, though? Maybe Dylan was Marvel's favorite at one point, maybe that's why he was acting suspicious (because he knew), maybe they had been trying to hammer out a deal with him and negotiations fell through when Marvel decided to change their plans last second? Maybe when he realized that, Dylan stopped pursuing Spider-Man and instead agreed to a role in Peter Berg's Deepwater Horizon? Whole lotta maybes... We shall never know. And that's a bummer.

I think it was because he wasn't being considered for the role or he was rejected and he didn't want to be reminded or talk about Spider-Man.. Spidey was his dream role after all. ("I haven't heard anything professionally")

When the reporter asked him about his dream role, I'm pretty sure he said Marty Mcfly because of Spider-Man not being an option for him anymore. you can clearly see his manager cringing, like: "Do you really want to do this to yourself Dyl?"

This is one of the funnier things I've ever read. Not the BC fanbase being cool part, but thinking there's such an ostensible and singularly identifiable fanbase to either of those actors, and furthermore that you know which one is in fact 'cool or not,' or anything about them in such a generality at all

I wasn't a SHH member back then, but I don't remember Benedict Cumberbatch fans trying to diss every other actor on Earth so Cumberbatch would get the role. I just had enough of the O'Brien fandom. Truly enough for a lifetime.

I think you're confusing Dylan's fans with Justin Bieber's fans... Watch this video to see why:

I'm not a DOB fan, but I still think the actors on that shortlist are extremely underwhelming and disappointing. You don't have to be obsessed with O'brien to not like the other actors, you can just not like them. And not be a Dylan fanboy\

btw you're as vocal against O'brien as anyone is for him. Not much of a difference there. I'm not on either side here, but you have to realize that's probably just as annoying to them as they are to you

That I can completely agree with. I just can't help it. I'm sorry. Thanks to Marvel, this nightmare is going to end soon.

We're all talking about a character that we have a personal love for, it's gona happen. Just pointing it out

For me personally, I have four Spider-man films I love and always will, no matter what happens in the future. But here's hoping Marvel finds a way to give me new ones to love too

Yes, all this Asa talk is getting in the way of all the Dylan worship! :o
im only here for spidey neither doesn't make a difference to me but I what im seeing one side is getting close to being like the other and what im saying the people who want asa have no business talking because they're becoming the same way and to me it doesn't matter because at this point I could care less

I don't know why people are getting so worked up. Front runner doesn't mean confirmed, it means front runner and things can change very quickly.

That'd be an incredibly childish reason for the way he behaved. Most likely is his agents were pushing for him to get the role, and he didn't want to say anything publically, or he was genuinely considered.

I'm not a fan of Asa potentially getting the role, however I'm open to the idea that he might surprise me.

I'd actually prefer him over Dylan.

Asa would really bum me out. his acting ability aside. Just does not look like a Peter Parker to me just because he has brown hair and glasses.

Agree. Really don't want it to be Asa. If it has to be anyone from that list then I am hoping it is Tom Holland who was superb in The Impossible.

Cant comment on his acting at all, but the disney channel kid begging to play Spider-Man has the best look so far of anyone, including Dylan Obrien.

He looks more like a jock than a nerd.

Asa looks like the Peter Parker from the early Ditko illustrations leaped right off the page.

Each to their own but to me Asa looks like Peter Parker in and out of glasses. I wouldn't even bother dying his hair or giving him contacts.

Don't know his acting but he looks like a young PP definitely.

Well... Tobey Maguire was cast as Spidey and he's not funny, like at all.

Who was cast by Sony, and since Sam Raimi didn't think the witty Spider-man was realistic, they weren't looking for a funny person or a guy who can deliver jokes. Feige on the other hand seems adamant on having the comicbook motormouth Spider-man, so if Asa is too dry to deliver, he didn't get cast. If he got cast, it means Marvel thought his delivery was witty

Asa looks British too. Like if you saw him walking around New York, you could tell he's not from New York. Just my opinion though
I get that feeling of being too American.
I go into McDonald's and they're like, "Do you want some fries to go with that?" And I'm like, "No, man. I want chips, not fries."
Some kid ran up to me in the park and asked if I wanted to play football. I screamed at him, "IT'S RUGBY, MAN!!!"
It's hard living in the UK when people think you look like you're from the US :waa:

Asa is really gonna need to bulk up.

I agree, but he just needs to put on another 10 pounds (of muscle) and he'll be fine. Shouldn't be too hard to do and I'm sure he's looking forward to finally not being a string bean anymore. Looking at him, he's probably around 5'10'' 138-140lbs (lel). If he got into the 148-150lbs range that would be pretty good for 15-16 year old Peter. By the time Infinity War 1/2 come out and his second solo film where Peter will be around 17 or 18, Asa will probably be a perfect 5'11'' 160-165lbs for adult Peter.
