Asa could definitely carry this franchise. he's done it before in past movies, it's definitely going factor into the casting.

the only "franchise" he carried was Ender's Game and that didn't do well.

Don't know where you got the notion that he can carry a franchise.

You don't watch Game of Thrones, do you?

Hempstead-Wright is considered to be one of that show's top-tier actors (which is saying something in a cast that is headlined by some incredibly talented veteran actors, many of whom have heaped high praise upon him and all of the other young actors in the cast).
The boy is a quite good actor, but it's only the girls on the show that get parts in other big films.

I have nothing against O'Brien himself, his obnoxious fan base has just completely destroyed my interest in him getting the role. This is probably the first time that has ever happened to me.

It's like
Love him, or die :o

Ive avoided here because I didn't want to get spoiler so I missed a lot of the O brien fanboy/fangirl isms

I do think he's a very good actor. And is perfect for the role. Watching Teen Wolf I see his comedic chops. The INternship and the First Time showed him being more reserved/deadpan but still funny. And the Maze Runner showed more of his dramatic abilities.

I have no doubt in my mind that he can do it. SUcks that his fanbase is so rabid, but that happens with so many actors anyway. I cant let that sway my opinion.

Um.. Martin Scorsese's Hugo, The Boy in Striped Pajamas and X+Y obviously. yes, he can carry a franchise.. one of the main reasons he's one of the strongest contenders.

Tom is listed at 5'6" or 5'8".

so because he's shorter, I support him! :o :woot:

Those aren't franchise films.

Exactly the same from my end. Now they are dogging me like I'm the reason that Dylan O'Brien is not cast, and they think me referencing Drew McWeeny's joke on #MeetTheMoviePress about "Dylan O'Brien for Wolverine" as a personal attack. It's just too much.

Not even mentioning that the dude is too old to play a 15-16 year old. He has bee playing a high school kid for FOUR years in Teen Wolf now, they want him to keep playing a high school kid forever now?

I have a feeling that it's very close now. It's a certain exciting energy that's humming somewhere.
By the way, check my SIGNATURE :)

I usually don't let fan bases bother me. Benedict Cumberbatch has the craziest fan base ever and yet I was excited that he got dr. strange, I think he's perfect for the role.

I'll take off my hate blinders for a moment and say that I think O'Brien would be a great choice for a college age Spider-Man but they aren't going for that so I don't even think about him as any sort of a factor. He's too old for what they plan to do with the character, he just is. Furthermore if age wasn't a factor Taron Egerton would be my number one pick.

Tom is quite short. Very athletic too and he played Billy Elliott on the West End. Think he would be perfect if they are going that young. He also hasnt been in many blockbusters so the public will look on him as a newcomer.

Make of this what you will.

If he was being considered surely he wouldn't even acknowledge tweets like these? Or am I missing something?

That's not the actor.

That's so weird, doesn't he know he doesn't suppose to talk about it?

Maybe he doesn't know and by that just made sure Asa will get the part.
