Considering how big of a decision this is, how long the speculations have been going on, and that Civil War has already begun filming anyone else want them to do something cool with the announcement? Just sending out a press release is boring. I love what they did with Marvel's Phase 3 announcement so I want them to do something unique with Spidey.

I'm picturing a short video of a dark room, Spider-man jumps into frame, walks towards the camera, takes off the mask revealing who will be playing him. Then say something funny before cutting to black and revealing either the new Spider-man title or the Civil War title. Maybe when he takes the mask off he's looking to the side then says "Wait where's the camera?"

Or maybe him trying to take a selfie with the Iron Man armor.

But he simply said he thought Dylan was out of the picture. That's not going to cause fans of Dylan to start attacking him. By saying all that you provoke a response, which wouldn't otherwise happen. This is the problem with this place.

Interestingly, what causes issues predominately is when people constantly feel the need to bring Dylan up and berate him when mentioning other actors. Or when posters just drop in, and say stupid things like they'll laugh at supporters of Dylan when the role is cast, or joke about the stupidity of his supporters. Or when somebody voices their support for Dylan, and you get posters come in and make fun of the choice, with comments like "oh great, Dylan" - which no other actor elicits. That is the problem, that's what gets a response. And then the supporters of Dylan get collectively placed into a group of rabid fanboys who will accept no other actor, when the majority of the time it's not even them provoking anything, rather defending their opinion. The post you just made perfectly illustrates this - you can't even defend the choice now without being called a 'Dylanite'. Something that amusingly, you'd have identified yourself as a few weeks back.

Now I'm not saying you necessarily are the worst offender of this, but it's comments like the one you made that just encourage the hostile behaviour around here to continue.

But whatever, stuff Dylan, who cares right? His stupid fans will still think he'll get the role even if he dies.

Yeah, I want him to do the reveal Spider-Man did in the Civil War comic book. I don't think it would work for the movie itself, but it would be perfect for the reveal where the audience is very invested in finding out who Spider-Man is.
