Homecoming The Next Spider-Man - Part 3

He used to be brought up all the time, but people backed off of him for Spider-Man for some reason I guess. I thought of him for the role from (don't laugh) that movie with Brendan Fraser Journey to the Center of the Earth. That movie seemed better when I was younger :hehe: His personality actually showed some traits that I thought he may be able to transfer towards Peter Parker :D

Plus, with Josh, if they were looking to unveil who's playing Peter in the MCU Spider-Man film via Civil War unmasking, he'd receive the best reaction out of all of those considered.

Peeta from Hunger Games would have the biggest shock and awe reaction, as opposed to that guy from Percy Jackson or Maze Runner.

I think I'm swaying myself towards moving Hutcherson up my fan list for Spidey :o

Something about Percy Jackson I just don't care for. I mean if Marvel feels he is right for the role I will 200% trust their judgment because they would have seen him audition but I don't see it.

I'm not like dying for O'Brien but I'd take him over Percy Jackson.

I'd cast Percy in a Batman Beyond movie before Spider-Man.

Oh I've seen it before. I think he has matured in some ways as an actor since then though, and would do a better job now at 22 to be honest.
I liked him in the Hunger Games.
22 sounds about right. yeah, I guess he wouldn't be the worst choice.

You know something I find odd? all of the candidates on the short list for TASM were around 18-21 years old, but they chose the 26 year old Garfield? and he wasn't even on their short list... weird.

Marshal Allman would have been an idea before I knew he was 30. Too old if telling the highschool story yet again.

I read on another forum years ago that the Lions for Lambs scenes made its way to the higher ups and is what actually sold them on Garfield.

I'd cast Percy in a Batman Beyond movie before Spider-Man.

I brought up how since the DCU is utilizing Bruce Wayne again, they should get Lerman to be Drake. Someone on Twitter once suggested getting Jon Bernthal to be Grayson/Nightwing. Considering both were in Fury for Suicide Squad director David Ayer, might not be too much of a stretch to think they'd be in contention for such roles at a certain point, if they'd be available for them.

Garfield is very talented, I understand why he was cast...even though he was too old for the role.

I think he doesn't do light-hearted and more humorous blockbuster fare as well as his serious stuff like Fury and Perks. You can probably put Three Musketeers in the same boat as Percy.

If there's one good thing to come out of Percy Jackson, though, it's a certain special goddess of a woman. :cwink:

Does anyone else think that O'brien has a *****ey look to him? It's a real turn off for the casting.

I honestly thought they would move the story past the origin. I ended up like TAS regardless, but I thought at the time casting him indicated a different phase/post college Spider_Man career. It would have been more interesting since the other trilogy just ended anyways. Oh well

I like Lerman as either Drake or Grayson. He`s got the looks, the acting chops for said roles, he`s the right age, and he can be very likable.

Someone suggested Bernthal for Dick Grayson? That`s probably the most bizarre bit of fancasting I`ve ever seen. Bernthal can do a lot in certain roles, but his range isn`t exactly wide-open. Besides, he`s too old, too "rough", and looks nothing like the character. Wouldn`t put it past DC though, after the casting of Momoa, Miller and Eisenberg.

"We're sending Peter back to high school!" Were the words the official announcement stated back in 2010.

Yet he spent one film and 1/10 there. So much for a film series of Peter in high school.

Three Musketeers wasn't a very good movie and Lerman looked like he wasn't engaged in his role at all. Same goes with his role as Percy Jackson, I guess. He seems much more engaged with roles in smaller movies, which concerns me if he becomes Peter. He quips a little in Percy Jackson, but his delivery wasn't good enough. Again, he's a talented actor, but he needs a lot of work if he's going to be Spider-man.
