The next Xbox

On the 360 atleast, I think Uncharted 3 looks better.
and that was almost a year and a half ago and a game like that was more of an exception than the norm. I dont think there's been significant improvements since then. This gen is near its ceiling in terms of what it can offer graphically. Hopefully next gen the average game can look better than Uncharted 3 and I'd be interested in seeing what the exceptional developers like ND have in store to wow us as they are among the leaders in visual quality and making the most out of the hardware

I've been playing Halo 4 with an Astro headset or having it linked up to my sound system ( the sound effects are unbelievable..really contributes to the atmospere). Now that I tried it just on regular TV sound it kind of takes some of the wow factor away. I was raving about the graphics before but I think the sound contributed to a lot of that as without it it still looks great but the overall experience is not as mindblowing as it was in my 1st few games.

Industry analyst: Xbox 720 to release this November, $400 price point

Oftentimes, when it comes to analyzing our wonderful industry, the always-pleasant Michael Pachter presents us with predictions and analysis, but today another industry analyst has voiced their opinion on the inevitable next-gen console launch; more specifically the “Xbox 720,” as it’s currently known to be.
In an interview with gamesindustry, Colin Sebastian, an analyst at Baird Equity Research, stated that he believes the Xbox 720/Durango will be released to the public this November at a $400 price point. Sebastian also told gamesindustry that he believes that we’ll see both the Playstation 4 and Xbox 720 announced at separate media events (a la Apple), and have their first playable demos at this year’s E3 in Los Angeles.
"Given the fragile state of the console game market, we expect the E3 trade show in June will take on added significance, most likely providing the industry with the first public opportunity to examine next-generation hardware," Sebastian stated.
The Baird analyst also believes that both next-gen consoles will be built off of “high-end PC components,” that will favor development cycles, and more so, Microsoft’s game business.
“Moreover, a PC-based architecture (Intel chips in the case of Xbox) should have a number of advantages over custom-developed silicon: for one, the learning curve for software developers will be shorter than completely new technology. Second, the cost of production and retail price points should be lower than prior console launches.”
“…It will be easier to build online services around PC chip architecture, including flexible business models (free-to-play, subscriptions) and multi-media (over the top) content offerings. For Microsoft, this design will also allow for more integration with Windows 8 and Windows Mobile devices," he added.”
Sebastian’s interview also touched on Sony’s development cycle of the Playstation 4. Interestingly enough, he believes we’ll see the PS4 a month earlier than the Xbox 720, so October in Sebastian’s words, though he predictions the next-gen Sony product may feature ”early production issues” due to what he called “field checks.”
Though there’s still much to learn when it comes to these next-gen consoles, Sebastian’s predictions do not seem too far-fetched, especially when it comes to the console unveils. We now turn to you, though; when do you believe we’ll see the PS4 and Xbox 720 unveiled to the public? Let us know by commenting below.

Yep, by me I believe..but this one has pictures!!

Well I know I've seen that specific link, because the link is "purple" and not blue. :P

EDIT: Hey wait a second, I haven't clicked on this before... why the hell is it purple!?

You're a closet Daily Mail reader. Scum! :woot:

Anyone think we might see the new consoles have different payment plans? Kinda like a phone? You'd buy it for $150 up front and pay 20 dollars a month for how many more months. I can see it.

I'd sure love to pay in payments,I plan on getting Xbox 3(I won't call it 720)&PS 4 and maybe Valve's console and so payments would be great

Microsoft tested that method out last year if I'm not mistaken. It's not for me, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had that as an option.

Microsoft is paranoid as **** confimed.

When Microsoft wants to run a secret project, they divide it into tents, which are cross-discipline teams. The first you know of this is you're asked for a one-to-one webcam chat, where it's explained to you that it's pretty much Fight Club, and that you're not allowed to tell anyone that you've been talked to about "joining the tent".

"You sign a load of paperwork, and then afterwards they give you some indication of what the hell you'll be working on. The bit I find crazy is that you have to find time to work on the tent project yourself; your line manager isn't allowed to know what you're working on.

"Microsoft sends out a list of stock answers that you're allowed to give if your manager asks you where all your time is going, and a phone number to call if they don't believe you. If they call that, they'll get confirmation you're working on a project, but absolutely nothing more.

If its 400 dollars, that's not too bad I guess. But that would be the basic version of the next gen console, I'm guessing the premium versions will be over 500 dollars.

That does sound crazy! I guess there could be some basis to the paranoia but they are really taking their precautions to the extreme!

And on the payment plans I think it'd be a great idea. I wouldn't use it but I'm sure many would.

I guess the results speak for themselves though. Microsoft doesn't have their stuff leaked every single time like Sony does.

Im pretty sure Sony leaks alot of their own info. It gets people talking and generates free buzz and builds momentum.

400 bucks isn't bad. As long as the games stay 60 bucks. Are they planning on raising, lowering or keeping the games the same price

So what would the new Xbox need to have for you(everyone on here in general)to consider pre-ordering it to get it on Day 1?,For me..

-Rumored specs to be true
-Build in Kinect 2.0 and for it to have that hologram/projector thing build in
-Able to use my Xbox 360 account
-Cross play&communication on XBL between 360 and the new Xbox
-360 games being backward compatible

  • At least four launch games that I'm very interested in
  • Digital purchases transfer over to the new system
  • They don't lock content on the disk behind a paywall (e.g. multiplayer and XBL)
  • A guarantee that no RROD-like hardware failures will occur

1. Agreed about no RROD
2. Blu Ray Player
3. Reasonable price
4. No dorky add ons like Kinect that don't work as well as they should
5. No Xbox points, just a dollar amount like itunes
6. Great games (Like Halo 5, Elder Scrolls, another Tomb Raider game) with improved graphics, gameplay
7. New franchises that we will learn to love
8. Could it possibly be quieter than the Xbox 360?

The 360 Slim is completely silent and so the first Xbox 3 model should be too

I'll get a Xbox 3 at launch if:

. It has a good launch line-up. With the rumors of Alan Wake 2 coming, this could happen

. My XBL account/Gold membership transfer. I've worked too hard on my Gamer Score for it to disappear next-gen

. Cross-play & chat between 360/Xbox 3

. Blu-Ray...that PLAYS BLU-RAY MOVIES! I read a rumor that MS will use Blu-Ray discs, but it won't support movies since they're trying to push downloadable movies. That better not happen!

. If I have a job by then :oldrazz:
