The next Xbox

If they could do that it'd be a huge leap in the gaming industry. Honestly, it's almost the natural progression of the Wii U gamepad. You can play full console titles on the gamepads screen, going portable with it wouldn't be too far-fetched.
Yeah...Have it be an HDDS with an HDMI port on it.. When you bring it home you close it, attach the HDMI cable and sync the wireless controller (Wavebird II ;) ) to it and... Boom.

The PSP could do that, complete with Dualshock 3 support. Unfortunately Sony didn't add that feature into the Vita, leading many to suspect they were holding it off for the first major hardware redesign

*ahem*

I think a great way they could tackle this issue is to take the core idea behind the Wii U and take it to its logical conclusion with their next console; make a console/handheld hybrid. A system that you can take with you and play your games wherever and then "beam" the image out to your TV when you're at home. That way they can focus all of their development efforts on the same platform and have a steady stream of great games for it year round.

:)

Sorry but Nintendo has always been the front running innovator when it comes to gaming. Other companies always pawn them off as some "gimmick" or "non hardcore gamer" whatever the hell that means.

We got Mario with Nintendo / Duck hunt "motion gun"

We got Donkey Kong Country with Super Nintendo, that game graphic wise was insane and looked better then the newer 32 bit consoles arriving on the scene.

N64 / Mario 64 revolutionary! + hardware joystick motion control

Wii was a different beast in hardware and the way you play games..

I could go on,,,,,, Moral of the story is much of what other consoles have now is due to Nintendo,, even after other consoles try to degrade it... "kinect"

Im not a fanboy of Nintendo but I have been around long enough to see plenty in the console wars. Whether Nintendo wins all the time in innovation or not,, they are always at the front of the pac. I certainly give them that respect and to say they cannot make hardware is just wrong, they innovate hardware that other consoles rip off.
I only feel that once PlayStation came around, they trumped the "innovation" of N64. N64 was no where near the leap from the previous consoles as PS was, and GameCube was about equal to DreamCast (just SLIGHTLY above PS graphics and FINALLY going to disk). Xbox and Playstation 2 brought online play and DVD and graphics that were much, MUCH better. I'd say in terms of innovation, 360, PS3 and Wii were about the same. Core hardware is won out by PS3 ad Xbox. Playback resolution was PS3, and Xbox took the win in terms of perfecting online gaming, the Wii revolutionised party-gaming with the motion control.

Wii U - in my opinion - is what the Wii SHOULD have been. It's about the graphics as the PS3 and 360, but it came out SIX YEARS later. It has an online interface that's like a mix of PSN and Live, and it has that touchpad. It's cool, but I expected a LITTLE better in the core hardware department, but again, Nintendo has kind of been behind in this area since the N64.

Did you play the Gamecube? I still have a number of Gamecube games and for the most part they still hold up. Hell, most Wii games were Gamecube games with motion control. I'd say it's quite a ways above PS graphics.

The GC was visually better looking than the PS2. Slightly better than PS? Go compare the likes of Resident Evil 4 on GC to Resident Evil 3 on PS1. You'll see a MAJOR difference. RE4 also looked substantially better on the GC than the PS2 port, which was inferior visually bc the hardware wasn't capable of handling it in its original presentation. That's well documented

So is there a date set for the reveal of the next Xbox? IMO they gotta do something with avatars. I was thinking a world similar to Playstation Home. You could have a apartment and put your arcade games in it in the form of a game machine you would find at a actual arcade. You can invite your friends over and if they own the same game they can launch it from your apartment. Just a quick idea I came up with.

April is the reveal's expected month,Yeah I'd like something like that for avatars too..Call it"XBL Community"or something and basically be PS Home But with more interactive options

GC was closer to PS graphics than PS2 graphics.

The Gamecube, for the most part, had better graphics than the Xbox and the PS2. I have no idea what console you were playing that had graphics similar to the PS.

That doesn't mean much. The graphics in Halo 4 and LEAPS and BOUNDS above those of Halo 3, but it's the same console.

Are you guys joking?! It's pretty well common sense among gamers that GameCube lacked in core hardware compared to PS2 and Xbox. I'm sure you could find some GC games with better graphics, but I won't even have to look. I could grab ten random games from all three consoles and you'll see GC loses.

Here's some comparisons:

The top one is GC, bottom is PS2

I honestly don't think you have ever seen a Gamecube game. The graphics were terrific for that generation.

Here's a few more examples of the Gamecubes graphics. Obviously they're borderline PS1 graphics :whatever:

But you were the one comparing different consoles so I pulled in 2 games from the same franchise against the 2 different consoles. Of course now that doesn't mean much :whatever:

Haha, ok I admit defeat. I looked it up and even in hardware, Gamecube won it out over PS2 - cases of cross-platform games, GameCube took it over PS2, but in console exclusives, it was a toss up. PS2 had games on DVD-9s (not all of their games) which could support 7-8 times more storage space than PS2. So they could produce larger games, while GC could render better textures and particles.

PlayStation to GC game rate was 20:1, so there's a lot more games to pick from in the playstation department.

So I'll say amend my statement to say that GC was a bit of an innovation in terms of core hardware, but PS2's use of DVD and online made it a more serious system in my opinion.

I hope all these Kinect rumours aren't true. I hate gimmicks, especially faulty motion sensor technology that doesn't work half the time.

If it won't let you play second hand games I'll be going straight over to the PS4.

These two rumors are what would keep me away from the new Xbox. I just can't imagine Microsoft implementing the used game ban, but the Kinect thing seems really probable.

The Kinect rumours are almost as bad as having to be connected to the internet at all times to play games, even offline. If Kinect isn't optional I will not buy a new Xbox.

The always online thing is annoying too. My internet is a bit **** and if it goes down, I don't want to be unable to play a single player game. That is crap!

Don't you always have to be online in order to play games you've downloaded from XBLA? This seems like a progression from that

Nope not the single player stuff anyway. Just like a real game
