The next Xbox

Really? I don't even know actually. I always sign in automatically. But I guess with XBLA games it doesn't matter so much. :woot: It's an issue if your entire library of retail & arcade games is unplayable though when your internet goes down.

Do you have to be always online for Steam? And a Steam-like system for 720 is basically equivalent to getting rid of used games & Steam is pretty much universally popular. I think Microsoft will be more flexible on pricing next gen as there are no huge costs to this digital stuff and they've already hinted in the current Ultimate Sale of the kind of significant one-off sale discounts that might be possible.

Nope not the single player stuff anyway. Just like a real game
Really? I think Ive read complaints from people that cant access the games they've downloaded when Live is down

The Kinect rumours are almost as bad as having to be connected to the internet at all times to play games, even offline. If Kinect isn't optional I will not buy a new Xbox.
My feelings on Kinect:

Xbox needs to make dashboard themes better. Playstation has animated themes and you can see them way better as opposed to the 360 themes and some are hard to see with the way the dashboard is set up.

I have downloaded plenty of games over the years. Never had an issue

I don't know if this is what you mean, but...

When you purchase an XBLA game you get 2 licenses for it. One is a system license (applies to the gamertag that made the purchase) and the other is a local license (applies to the system the game was purchased from).

Every time you play offline, the game reads the local license. If you get a new console, you will no longer have the local license and you will be required to go online (so that they can verify you own the game through the system license) in order to play.

You can of course transfer your licenses to another console, but unfortunately, you'll have to download everything again.

& you can also transfer licenses. So it is a non issue

Yes. I know. I mentioned it. You also have to re-download everything.

Why is everyone so upset about the Kinect thing? So what if it has to be plugged in? That doesn't mean Halo 5 will require you to stand up and dance. Hell, it probably won't even implement it. For sports games, the voice activation is cool, but what's the big deal?

I don't know. Maybe people are worried that if it ever breaks or needs to be replaced for whatever reason, that they have to purchase another one in order to use their Xbox. That's something that could upset me that's just a hypothetical situation

To me I see it as the same thing as a sensor for the Wii. You have to have the sensor in order for the Wii to work, so I don't really see it as that big a deal even though the Kinect is much bigger.

Not everyone has empty space in a room they want their console in to properly scan the environment..Unless now furniture works,Kinect required to be connected all the time isn't that big of a deal But my problem is how much it's being focused on.

The Kinect is an awesome idea/concept But I rather see it as a pure game accessory than a focused device for the casuals,Should be used for things like scanning your face&body to create yourself or somebody in a game that has a create feature

The amount that Microsoft pushed the Kinect is what's turning gamers off from the system. I do agree that Microsoft should hold back a bit on much they focus on kinect, but I don't think they will.

Sony focused on games/gamers/game developers&social features for games during their reveal and I really hope MS does the same,I think they might a bit But I bet they'll be heavily talking about Kinect 2.0&it's future involvement with Xbox 3..Within 5-10 mins into their presentation

I honestly think the Kinect features would only be depending on developers. Isn't PS4 being packaged with Move?

I don't think it's been confirmed and I haven't seen any rumors&stuff about it being a requirement for the console to funnction

no and unlikely except for a special bundle. The system will ship with the new camera bc the new DS4 has some Move functionality built in, but not freedom of motion that the wand has.

Ah ok. I still feel like full on motion will only be some games (like those party games), but sports games will only use the voice feature and CoD might too (activating UAV etc).

People are upset because of Kinect, Microsoft has taken a far more casual focus on games. Asides from a few developers, the vast bulk of Microsoft's games studios are devoted to casual XBLA/Windows Phone games or Kinect games. While Sony is developing Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, God of War, and whatnot, Microsoft is developing Halo and well.....Halo. The amount of quality content has dropped significantly due to Kinect.

What about Mass Effect, BioShock, Forza, Fable, Elder Scrolls (sure Skyrim was also on PS, but look how that turned out...) and Gears of War? Also, I feel like I'm the only one who finds Little Big Planet to be bunched in with the "casual gaming" crowd. It just feels like a tablet game to me.

Mass Effect, Bioshock, and Elder Scrolls aren't exclusive licenses to Microsoft. ME was when Microsoft was the main publisher, and Elder Scrolls was only exclusive for a year because it was supposed to be a PS3 launch title and it got delayed.

I actually don't know why Bioshock was exclusive, originally. I guess Irrational just wanted to make it for Xbox.

The funny thing is that Microsoft dropped the ball by not buying Bioware. They could have also bought Take-Two interactive.

Only Forza and Fable are developed by MS and ME, Bioshock, and Elder Scrolls are all on PS3. Hippie is right in that MS doesn't have a lot of developmental studios and the ones it does have are primarily making casual games.

ME isn't an exclusive any more!? And Skyrim is pretty glitchy on PS3, isn't it? I heard they might be sticking to only Microsoft for ES6 - this is just from people though, I haven't actually read this anywhere. So at this point, Microsoft really only has Forza, Fable, GoW and Halo, but PS3 has the likes of GT, Uncharted, GoW and Infamous (not to mention priority on Ubisoft games and RockSteady games). Also, isn't that new game with Ellen Page a PS4 exclusive?

Beyond is a PS3 exclusive. And the Elder Scrolls 6 sticking to Microsoft thing is only a rumor for now.
