The Nightwing OYL Discussion Thread

Nightwing. Oh, Nightwing, how I used to love thee. People are going to bite my head of (or just ignore this whole post) when I say that I'm not feeling the Wolfman issues. I mean, they arn't that much better than the previous OYL stuff. There were three things wrong with the first couple issues of OYL pre-wolfman. 1) Jason Todd , when eaten by that one octopus dude became Toddopuss. 2) Cheyenne or however the hell you spell it making the "Nightwing outfit" some kind of fashion trend, and 3) Well, I can't think of a three. People get so defensive over Wolfman just becuase he was on the original TT when he came into existence and he "Knows Dick Very Well". Oh, and if you want to say "WELL WOLFMANS ARC IS AWESOME SO FAR!" I'll kindly point you to the mysterious killer thats killing everyone with a Laser Pointer. Yeah, I said it. A Laser Pointer. How lame is that? I kind of wanted to drop the book around the Todd arc, but I played it out to see where it was going. Now I'm really thinking of just dropping this book MID ARC (which for me is soemthing that I don't like to do, at all) because of how bad it really is. Don't be blinded by Wolfman being on it, it's really not that good people. Oh, and by the way, Nightwing magically has some helper guy thats designing his **** for him, calling him "Wing", making up names for his grappling hook, holding the last surviving guy from 'The Raptor massacre' and is afraid to leave his house for no apparnt reason. Now, maybe I missed out on issue 125 (which I'm 100% sure I didnt) but where the HELL did this guy come from? Yeah...real good story guys! Wolfman sure has saved Nightwing!

I'm liking the current arc, but I do think people are a little too generous with their praise just due to Wolfman writing it. The art's much better, but I get the feeling that Jurgens is old and doesn't realize that clothing and hairstyles have evolved beyond the late 80's/early 90's. I do like the idea that they're trying to build NW's rogues gallery up, but I'm going to side with SouLeSS and say that this guy with a laser pointer is pretty lame. I'm sticking with it, though. I've got faith that Wolfman will eventually get it back on track.

Awesome news. Igle is a solid and consistent artist.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Igle on Nightwing. Kind of sad that he'll be leaving Firestorm, though. I hope the new creative team on Firestorm is as good as Moore and Igle were, otherwise I'll probably just drop it.

there's a difference, though. the atom was the size of a molecule, these people are full-sized. it's stupid.

he's sort of melting people with it. it's like a suped-up laser pointer/death-ray type dealie-bob.

So what's the big deal? I sincerely doubt this is the first time people have seen a dude use a death ray to melt people in comics.

eh, it just seems hokey. isn't it on a keychain or something?

It's literally a laser pen, only it melts people.

I wouldn't mind if it was on a gun, or some kind of device, but the fact that it does look just like the laser pointers I used to play with when I was 13 makes me sick.

I say kudos to Wolfman and Jurgens for finally making a supervillain weapon that's easy to hide. Seriously, where does the Key stash his gi-freakin'-normous key? You guys are all just jealous that you didn't think of making a laser pointer-esque matter melter yourselves.

I get it. Corp and Darth wait for someone to voice an opinion on something and then they take the opposite side to seem like rebels or somthing. Cute, but not really.

I do that on other boards. It's disagreeing for the sake of conversations. Stirs up topics that generally wouldn't be talked about. If we all just agreed that the Laser Pen sucked, it would be boring. Why do you think people still defend the Clone Saga and The Other (Spider-Man)? They know it'll get a rouse out of the others, and cause conversation/debates to start.

Obviously you've never watched PTI or Around the Horn on EPSNews.

I haven't even read the comic, so I don't know what it looks like or anything. It just seems to not be as big a deal as people are making it, even if it is a little lame for looking too pedestrian or whatever. I do like weapons that are designed for easy concealability, though. Maybe you should stop being so cynical of your fellow man, sinewave. You've gone and hurt my feelings.

i really didn't make it a big deal, i just stated my opinion that it was lame and you guys asked more about it and i gave an opinion.

sorry, for hurting your feelings. it just seems to me that you guys are only posting certain opinions to ruffle feathers. if that's not the intent, then i apologize.
