The Dark Knight The Non-Spoiler Critic Review Thread

Pwned.

:oldrazz:

Nice detective work there bro, very well done.

The sad part was, if he had only changed that opening line it would have taken me more than 10 seconds. I reckon it would be a good solid half a minute before finding that. I should thank the guy for the extra 20 seconds of my life I saved. I ate a pretzel with those 20 seconds. It was tasty.

For the non spoiler crowd, dont be surprised if Jeffery Lyons review is glowing.

Ok im based in NYC so the news tonight on NBC 4 previewed Ledgers performance in TDK. Jeffery Lyons review looks like it will be positive. When asked if Heath will get an Oscar nom, In so many words he described the film as groundbreaking (paraphrasing).

Now folks, I watch "Reel Talk". Jeffery Lyons is one of those guys that gets annoyed with fiction easily. Hes HARD to get.

This positive streak is an amazing sign that Nolan has broke ground once again.

Mmmmmm....pretzel....

Some of you take jokes way to seriously. If you took "In the film's first scene, he reprises his Batbutt shot (coupled with a Alfred butt shot)" seriously you need help!

Sometimes I don't think fanboys know how ridiculous they are sometimes. I take part in serious discussions on these words as well as making fun of some of the super-serius folk who like to fight over who will win in a fight.

For the record The Dark Knight and BB are my favorite Super hero films and I hate Iron Man.

Meh...it's the internet for ya. Everybody takes themselves too seriously. They need to lighten up! *flicks on lighter*

Yeah, I thought it was a funny joke, and enjoyed reading the actual linked review to Batman and Robin. Helps me to appreciate just how great things are now!

Once again, our city shines on film. New York can make all the claims it wants to make, but Chicago IS Gotham City in "The Dark Knight," the highly anticipated Batman movie coming to theaters July 18.

I'll be reviewing it on "At the Movies with Ebert & Roeper" this weekend, but for now let's just say that it will be a huge upset if the late Heath Ledger ISN'T nominated for an Academy Award for best supporting actor -- and it won't be due to some maudlin sympathy vote.

Ledger doesn't have to steal every scene he's in because he walks in and owns it from the get-go. This is one of the funniest, creepiest, darkest, most interesting and most amazing performances I've seen in any movie this decade.

Between this and the preview Michael Phillips gave, it looks like Ebert & Roeper (sans Ebert, of course) will give positive reviews for TDK...I just hope that, besides Ledger, they have praise for other aspects of the film.

Roeper chimes in...

Chicago, Ledger shine in 'Dark Knight'
Late actor owns every scene in Oscar-worthy performance

I just hope no spoilers, I really want to watch the show this weekend. :cwink:

I remember quite a bit of spoilers on their BB review. I'll watch it after the film.

The spoilers are in paragraph four. Otherwise, you're fine.

The Time review comes pretty close to some spoilers. Why, oh why do these mainstream critics have to give away the pencil thing god dammit! I didn't want to know that!

Times Review was good from what I read. I skimmed it trying to avoid spoilers, and decided I'd be safe reading the last two summarizing paragraphs. I was wrong. Why the hell would the guy put such a spoilerific plot point in the second last paragraph. From that sentence, I can deduce way more than I wanted to know about the finale. If you read it, you know what I'm talking about. I just pray that my deductions are wrong.
