The Dark Knight The Non-Spoiler Critic Review Thread

I feel like we're just killing time here, since more than 100 reviews will go up in total and we're pouncing on every single one for now. :funny:

Oh, I know. But Variety's rave got me excited, though it does give away part of the ending... :down

Is that LATINO REVIEW article for real??? He sounds so derogatory towards the film as if its just summer fluff and a regular popcorn movie and he goes on to say Iron man is still the best comic book movie this summer but that TDK is entertaining and 'fun' and for the kiddies to go 'enjoy themselves'!?!?!? Was I the only perplexed by this review!?!?

I'm with you. That review sucks. Iron Man is not that great of a movie. I don't get why people are so crazy about it.

Latino Review is a joke. A bad joke that's not even funny.

Iron Man is liked a lot because it was shiny with lots of loud noises. that always entertains children

Iron Man is liked a lot because it was about two thirds of a really fine movie.

I don't hate the "Latino Review" because it's negative. It's not really negative, it gives the film an A-, overall I'd say it's positive, actually. I hate the review because it's crass and tasteless, mocking Maggie Gyllenhaal's looks and Heath Ledger's death. I don't even call it a review. A review discusses the film. This is just a sad little blog with the writer attempting to dredge out "humor" from totally inappropriate sources.

Maggie's not hot if you've only got a twelve year-old's mentality of what's sexy.

I agree!
Iron Man wasn't even anything special or new to the genre of Marvel superhero films ( or superhero films in general ).
It had lots of cheese as well, the whole sequence in the beginning of the new reporter or announcer explaining the whole Stark backstory through newspapers and clips all in about 5 minutes was a major no-no.
I think my eyes rolled to the back of my head, lol.

Iron Man was really a good comic book film and stayed fairly close to the source material, its Marvel's best film since Spiderman2 no doubt about it. Of course it has cheese and one-liners and such but most and I repeat MOST Marvel characters have that sensibility.

Every now and then, I like to read the user reviews for films on IMDb. Some dude just cut-and-pasted The Hollywood Reporter's review of TDK and presented it as his own. LOL.

Who does that?

Ya guys lets not bash Iron Man here...let's not make this the Iron Man or Hulk boards.

I'm not reading any of the reviews but the LR review sounds childish. I figured a couple of people were going to bring up Maggie's looks. I think she's quite attractive myself. She's not Monica Bellucci, but still cute.

^^ again I haven't clicked any of the links, I'm tempted as hell, but want to avoid spoilers like the dickens. Still tho, ragging on Maggie's looks?

Did he say that Dark Knight was childish compared to Iron Man?

No, simply said he enjoyed Iron Man more and that TDK was simply a great thrill ride of a movie, and didn't seem to give it credit as far as substance.

It's not like Iron Man is loaded on the substance department.

I liked "Iron Man" just fine. Robert Downey Jr was great in it, like he's great in everything.

I also liked Iron Man, but it didn't exactly meander too deeply into the more philosophical areas of its script.

And as far as Maggie goes, the constant "Maggie is ugly," "You'd have to be stupid to say that, she's just non-conventional" fight is absolutely ******ed. Who gives a ****? We get to see a wonderful actress at work here. The fact that people try to justify how hot she is (and really, lets be honest, I think 99% of people who aren't just trying to defend her hotness because they love everything Batman, would at least put her a notch below most other actresses), just shows that they're shallow enough to believe that how hot someone is actually matters in a performance (unless of course the story calls for it).
