The Nun - New Line's Next Conjuring Spinoff

^ Holy crap, that poster might be the most amazing and scary thing that I've ever seen!

And it also makes me wonder how much we're going to see of Valak's backstory, and I hope we get to see how Valak "begins" (for lack of a better word). It'd be tragic & horrifying to see Valak transform a pure innocent-looking nun into that thing we saw in Conjuring 2.

The nun in Conjuring 2 is Valek the demon. Not a corrupted nun. Lorraine says Valak is a demon that took the form of a nun to mock Lorraine's faith and based on this film Valak has done it to other Christians in the past. Theres no way to show Valak's beginning without retconning what was already established in Conjuring 2.

What we might see however is how Valak ended up going from tormenting nuns in a convent to latching onto Lorraine in the Amytiville house. I suspect theres something that links this film's main character to Lorraine. Maybe Lorraine visited this convent as a child or is related to the nun.

Ah ok, I guess I'd forgotten what Valak was established to be in TC2 since it's been a while since I saw that movie. I guess I'm a bit confused as to who and what the titular "nun" is and how she ties to Valak (especially given the poster), so I'm hoping the movie will address that question for me.

This Conjuring universe has me hook, line and sinker and I'm excited to see a chapter of this universe take place someplace other than a neighborhood or a sort of typical house.

I just saw a TV spot for this and it does look very good. I'm not much into horror, but I did like The Conjuring and will probably see this.


When I saw the TV spot I thought "that looks like Taissa Farmiga" and it turns out it is her.


I just read through this thread and find it funny that the star is the sister of one of the leads in The Conjuring (Vera Farmiga) and nobody mentioned it.


Funny how a lot of people think Taissa is her daughter because of the 21 year age difference.

At least New Line is making a new horror franchise and creating new horror icons like Annabelle and the Nun as Annabelle is the new Chucky.

It's much better than bringing tired old dead horse franchises/characters back from the grave on film when they need to be buried. I'm looking at you Elm Street, Scream, Child's Play, Hellraiser, Saw, Halloween, Friday The 13th and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Just make an effort and make new horror franchises/new horror icons.

I remember when I saw Taissa the first time I instantly thought she must be a daughter of Vera. Then I learned they are sisters, but also that they actually has played mother and daughter at some occasion.

It would be cool if they in some flick played the same person at two different ages.

I feel like there's room for both new and old. The new Halloween looks dope.

I refuse to see the new Halloween, i'm burned out on the franchise as i feel it's dead after H2O and disliked Resurrection and Zombie's remake films even 5. I just want the franchise to just die and be buried that's all in favor of new franchises/new icons.

Now i can see this as being a new horror icon.

That's just tv spots and the first trailer stringed together. That YouTube channel does that **** all the time and tries to pass it off as a new trailer so they can get views. It's pure clickbait.
