That... that... I...

Damn, that just sucks.

Uatu needs to stop watching and take a walk around the block.

Wasn't the Watcher as originally drawn by Kirby a little on the tubby side?

Yep, he sure was.

Looks like Romita Jr. is doing an old school interpretation. I like it.

Dudes, don't be hating on Romita Jr. just because the Watcher can't stick to a diet.

I hate on Romita Jr. because... well... I just pretty much hate everything he's drawn for decade or so. Well, that's not true... I liked one panel with Wolverine and Xavier in the most recent issue of Avengers... but that's about it.

Actually, I take that back. I did like most of his work on Amazing Spider-Man. He didn't really start annoying me until after that. When did he finish that... the Book of Ezekiel I think? Right around that time is the last time I enjoyed him.

He did some BND stuff that was still good. I started to notice the sloppiness with his art on Kick-Ass. I didn't think much of it at the time because if the book's content and style. By Avengers #1, I was like "WTF???".

His faces all kind of look the same now. The contrast with that great cover is astounding.

The first time I really noticed how bad his art is getting was the second Sentry mini written by Jenkins. That was pretty rough. World War Hulks was kinda rough at times too, though it wasn't horrible.

When you guys say that Romita Jr.'s art has gotten "bad" are you talking about his storytelling or his style or both? Also, do you know what storytelling is?

I think the quality of Romita's artwork is usually dependent on whoever's coloring and inking his work. His Amazing Spiderman work was great stuff because Scott Hanna inked the hell out of it ( i forget who colored it but whoever it was did a great job as well).

In Avengers, Romita's artwork seems really...bland, and i think its due to Dean White and Klaus Johnson. Romita needs a dynamic colorist like Laura Martin or Frank D'armata to really bring his pencils to life i think.

Um... yes, I think most of us know what storytelling is. Try not to talk down to people, it's not appealing.

That aside, I'm refering more to his style than his storytelling. He tells the story decently enough but I can't get past the style of his art. It's just gotten too sloppy.

And I think kguillo is right. The colorost and inkers enhance his art. When it isn't as dynamic it isn't as good.

JH, just ignore him. He's been trolling since the minute he stepped foot in the Hype forums. Just look at his post history.:down

I wonder if that's an old poster who used to post here we called PJ....nah, while he was one of the more awesome flamers we've ever had, he would never have defended that American Black Panther boo s**t.

You sure about that?

Also, the question about storytelling is totally valid. This board seems to be filled with folks who, to put it nicely, don't know jack about comics. They might know a lot about the characters and the continuity. But as far as the art of sequential storytelling? Um, not so much.

You guys concern yourselves so much with trivial stuff. There's a guy in another thread who just posted a snarky, passive-aggressive open letter of sorts to David Liss because he didn't like where a fictional character fell on a list of the smartest fictional characters in a fictional universe. That's insane.

But sure, go ahead and throw out the troll card. I mean, why listen to someone trying to bring sense and reason into the discussion when you can flippantly dismiss it, am I right?

But you're NOT doing that. You're just being condescending. Want to gauge what people know about storytelling? Start an actual discussion about it that doesn't lead off with a collective insult.

Yeah... constant condescending posts comes accross as being pretty trollish. Commense with the ignoring.

Have you ever stopped to think, that instead of worrying about whether other people are being condescending, maybe MOST of the people on this board should concern themselves with not being totally cliched, whiney internet a-holes?

I mean, I've looked through this forum top to bottom, and it's filled with all the worst parts of fandom. You guys are incapable of having any sort of meaningful conversation. It's all, "Who could beat X in a fight?" or "This is the best splash page EVAR."

You have no idea what craft is. It's all superficial bull**** like continuity issues. And you wonder why no one within the industry cares one iota what you think.

And with that, I think I've done what I set out to do.

Please, by all means, continue to whine and fester in your own little corner of internet filth.

This is a free, open, international forum. People have lots of conversations about lots of things, all based around the fact that, yes, we are fans. We nitpick, we get excited about random things, it's who we are and what we do. You make no point by coming in here and immediately talking down to us, without really understanding the context of anything being said.
