The Official Avengers Thread (Heroic Age Bendis/JRJR)

This is a free, open, international forum. People have lots of conversations about lots of things, all based around the fact that, yes, we are fans. We nitpick, we get excited about random things, it's who we are and what we do. You make no point by coming in here and immediately talking down to us, without really understanding the context of anything being said.

False. I swear, you guys are some of the most presumptuous people on the web. What makes you think I don't understand the context of what's being said? You think because this username is new this is my first time here? Please.

Everything I said stands and then some. The industry laughs at forums like this. Trust me.

The tone is what makes me think that. You simply assume people don't understand storytelling for what? Not liking JRjr's art on this title? Thinking that it's rushed and detracts from the comic as a whole? What does that even have to do with understanding storytelling or not?

Also, for a forum that the industry laughs at, this does seem to get a lot of attention FROM said industry. Chris Yost has posted here, and Dan Slott pops in to talk about his projects every couple of months.

It's only a matter of time before you see the words "banned user" next to PJ's name.....

Dammit. I wanted to ban him but somebody beat me to it.

I figured a mod would come around eventually and give him at least a warning but for that guy it was best to nip that in the bud. He was combative the second he came on the scene.

Ah, the party's over. Back to the discussion at hand: JRjr's art is really choppy. And his work was what I was counting on to make this title worth reading. Well, that and Thor answering the call to assemble again.

Yeah, I knew Thanos was returning, but like this? Here? Did Bendis not that the cosmic memo?

Well, this was in the astral plane, right? If I read that right? Kinda zoned out towards the end of the book. If so, does that mean the astral plane is a nexus of realities like so many things are in the Marvel U? A way for Nova and Star Lord to return (the only possible upside to this)?

Oh god Bendis, you never cease to amaze. What a laughably bad issue. With some great examples of Bendis really not giving a crap about other peoples work.

What a guy!

Why do you keep purchasing his comics and supporting his work when you constantly feel he's a bad writer and so forth?

Spend money on this crud? lol no chance. The owner of my LCBS lets me look through it, only takes about 2 minutes with Bendis' Avengers. The owner doesn't mind, he shares my feelings that Bendis' Avenger books do not deserve to be purchased.

So stealing and whining to the internet, oh how usual in this forum. :(

Ehh whatever. If more people stole Bendis' Avengers work maybe we wouldn't have to put up with this watered down, continuity and previous characterisation ignoring, other writer disrespecting, copy and paste dialogue drek.

I think the only thing that made me want to collect this series was that Romita was working on it. Now that he's no longer on it, I'm not. The arcs were okay, but still lacking in their own right. I took this book as my ... guilty pleasure as it were.

Neal Adams is drawing #16 and Bendis said that Norman Osbourn is making his comeback bigtime in it.

I'm not sure how I feel about Osborn coming back. I mean, I want him back but I'm not sure what role I want to see him in. It might be too soon for Norman.....

Agreed. I can definitly see this story not giving justice to his return, if he does.

It doesn't bother me. It'll be near a year and a half since Siege ended by then. I think that's plenty of time for him to return in the Avengers books. It's more time than Hood got :)

I followed Avengers during its first storyline, but It didn't really grab me, the Only Avengers title I'm getting monthly at the moment is Secret Avengers, I've found that title to be a pretty enjoyable read.

However, I may pick the regular Avengers book back up eventually.

So this is coming in February 2012:
The Avengers Omnibus volume 1!

728 pages of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby at the cost of 77 Bucks + shipping, do you guys think this is the good stuff or shall i wait for some Kurt Busiek Omnibuses and other Avengers omnibuses from other writers.

I know I'm buying that, since that's one book I've been expecting and anticipating for a while now. Well, if funds allow. I'd like to have 2 of the Thor 'buses right now, along with 2 Cap one's, but I can't afford those right now.
