Gangbanging? I was just here chattering, while sat at my two screens sipping my tea and munching on a chocolate biscuit.

I meant proverbial gangbanging...As in us rabid SR fanboys and you.... :o Do you see where I'm going with this... :o

They do feature Singer in the 5th TV Spot.

Also two trailers I watched featured Superman Returns...

I'm not entirely sure what you meant (some sort of unsavoury reference to people here leaping on me?) and I think I'd rather not know. Maybe it's some American slang expression? Gangbanging is such a ghastly concept I'd rather not know and shall return to my cup of tea. Ain't no gangbangin' going on here.

Most curious. I didn't see it mentioned here (several TV adverts, several newspaper adverts, the back page of a magazine).

So, the defence on here that it's because SR isn't an applicable film to mention next to Valkyrie no longer applies, in the light of those adverts.

Ahhh I forgot, you are in the UK. Makes a difference.

Apparently, it applies in the UK.

Hehe, you cheeky chimp!

(BTW, going to see Valkyrie at the weekend, or maybe the one after, in spite of, or because of, the absence of SR in the advertising!!! ):hehe:

Unless that word has some childish new meaning. It doesn't mean something nice.

I'm in Australia and we got promotions with mentions and without. We often get the same stuff as the U.K.. Based on Harry Potter films. Because there's "American" and "International" trailers (i.e. Australia and U.K. are "international"). But maybe someone can see if it's the case here. Is there some sort of U.K. site that would have the proof needed?

"Gang banging," in the way he was using it, is a term for people in a gang doing things that a person in a gang (bloods, crips, etc.) might do. In its purest form (in this usage), it refers to violence. But the term's etymology has changed so that it really can just mean causing general mischief.

In Australia "bang" can mean to have sexual intercourse. I don't think I need to say more especially if you add "gang" to that.

The trailer at the site of UK newspaper The Guardian says 'from the director of The Usual suspects and X-Men'. It's here.

There is a massive poster in my local shopping mall that says the same thing (or it might use Apt Pupil not Usual suspects). And a full page advert on the back of the Sunday Times magazine says the same.

Gangbanging, as far as i know from UK usage, is the multiple rape of one person by several individuals.

In addition to that Uk trailer, the UK poster is here. It says from the director of The Usual Suspects and X-Men.

It means that here, too, but I was pointing out that it has more than one meaning. He was not referring to what you just mentioned.

Interesting. I went to the cinema to see "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (it came out Dec. 26 I went later than that). They had previews with it mentioned (i.e. "Superman Returns"). Also I picked up a flyer. It doesn't have it on the front but mentions the other two films. But has it on the back.

Oh boy. Maybe I should edit my posts.

Please don't. As it could be used as a lesson that sometimes words aren't as innocent as you or others think them. Plus you didn't know. Misunderstanding I'm fine with. I hope you've learnt it isn't as innocent as it seems so no repeat mentions.

Enough talk about gangbangs. He was referring to a large group against one person, nothing more, nothing less. Let's please move on from this talk.

Same here. For both things. We often get things from Britain. I was trying not to be explicit about what the word meant. But I don't mind if others are.

Where are you? I know he didn't know that meaning.

Edited to add: I didn't see your post as I was typing this Showtime. If it's never mentioned again I'll be more than fine with that policy. Although didn't he mean gang up on someone.

BTW has anyone found any U.K. trailers with "Superman Returns" mentioned? I know they did here sometimes.

Well, now that we're past my so called depravity, I wonder what Singarrr is up to. Wasn't he producing a Superman web comic/show or something?
