Civil War The Official Captain America: Civil War News & Speculation Thread - - - - Part 13

It seems both Civil War and BvS are to do with heroes being held accountable for their actions, particularly the destruction seen in the preceding film.

You're just realizing this now?

But unless you personally know the intricate details on their deals? Couldn't his agent have made a deal that says Sebastian Stan MUST be in 9 Marvel films? Kind of like your company promising you a certain amount of hours of work and them not fulfilling those contracted hours means you could sue them.

He could easily have made a deal like that too, right? Who knows.

In any case there will be some kind of repercussions from this, if this end with them getting pardoned because they stopped some lame conspiracy then that would be the ultimate anticlimax.

Like others have said, they can kill his character off anytime, studios sign these contracts to secure the actor just in case.

I really hope there are consequences, no happy ending nonsense, Steve or Bucky going to jail, people dying like in any war... hopefully, this will be what AoU wasn't.

I don't want to see Steve going to prison.

For that matter, Bucky going to prison would be crappy too. After being tortured and brainwashed for 70 years, he deserves better than rotting in prison as soon as he gets his mind back for crimes he had no control over.

I hope they both manage some better measure of closure.

Is prison an automatic fait accompli though? Wouldn't there be a trial and investigation at least? And isn't Bucky someone almost too valuable to hold in prison forever? He's got Intel on Hydra's shenanigans going back 50 + years.

I think it's understandable that Cap is reticent to hand Bucky over but Tony would have a point that Cap shouldn't just side step a trial or the will of the people that individuals in the community he and Cap are a part of (heroes, villains or other) be held responsible in some way for their actions.

I have my doubts Bucky really would know that much. Weren't they mind wiping him on a regular basis? They only brought him out of cryo freeze for individual missions and then put him back on ice. He was just a tool, a weapon, not an actual Hydra conspirator.

I still find it humorous that for Directors who have such a big background in comedies, they have somehow managed to create some of (if not the most) serious films within the MCU (to date).

I honestly can't think of an ending for Cap that wouldn't feel like it'd be redundant (running away, going into hiding) that doesn't also end up with him in Jail or presumed dead.

Maybe they'll just do something with Cap like they're doing with Coulson in Agents of SHIELD where Steve decides to operate from the shadows with his own secret group at the end of the film.

Who knows? His memory has apparently come back. Is it JUST his pre-experimentation and enhancement memories? Or more? I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that he will retain lots of memories of those missions... Plus, c'mon... It's Marvel. You can't pass up all that juicy angst to spin off stories and drama from, with Bucky haunted by guilt and motivated by a need for redemption, ect. ;)

Either way the rest of the Avengers are screwed. Hawkeyes getting involved really is never going to help his family.

First Captain America refuses to register himself, along with others, under the Accords.

Then he decides to defy Governments by defending his friend Bucky.

By the end of the film, it'll all cultivate into him doing something far worse....

You guys really want this movie to end on a high note but you don't want it to end on a high note? You can't have your cake and eat it too. You have to pick, either it ends with Cap temporally stepping down wether that be prison, into exile or death.

Or it ends with...

CAP:"I'll miss you Tony"
TONY:"I'm glad we sorted things out, buddy, that Baron Zemo guy really brought us together huh?"
CAP:"Oh yeah, if it wasn't for him, I'd probably be in jail or DEAD by now can you imagine?"
CAP:"hahahaha"
TONY:"hahahaha"

Yeaaah, no I am not feeling that, not every movie needs to end happily. Like someone said just because it's the end of Caps FIRST trilogy, doesn't mean it's the end of Cap's journey in the MCU, clearly since he's in Infinity War.

I found the points about Black Panther and Zemo interesting:

It’s a combination of a practical costume and VFX. It’s a vibranium weave, a mesh, almost like a chainmail. Luminescence is something we have to do in post. He’s there for a very different reason which brings him into conflict with Cap and his team. His motivations are not their motivations.

Zemo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is not Zemo from the comics, and what’s interesting and surprising is that we don’t always honour the mythology from the books. One, because it’s predictable and two, it’s not servicing the story in the way we want. So, if Zemo were in this movie, I think people should expect that it’s going to be something fresh and exciting.

Technically she was, at about the 1:22 mark - she's standing with Martin Freeman's character on the right side of the screen.

Also, the thing to remember, billing order doesn't rely on amount of screentime. It relies more on who has the better agent

Could be, but notice that the people who are the top were all in the TWS and those that follow were not.

Do people get upset because MCU Zemo isnt the comic version? Its like, modern movies arent comics. You gotta adapt things to fit with what youre doing. To deny that is pretty immature and small minded.

I find it very interesting that probably one of the least moral people in terms of right and wrong is now going to be the the one the sees things clearest.

Steve is compromised with his views, as is Tony, Hawkeye, War Machine, and most of the rest.

Yet, Natasha, can see both sides. Understand them and try and work with one, while trying to talk the other down. A very grown up, decidedly mature and very motherly way to portray her. I like it after the crap persona she was in AOU.

Again Russo's doing feminism better than the touted feminist, starting with Black Widow's hair.

My god what is Joss's obsession with that 1950's do he keeps giving her? I guess he thinks long hair isn't practical and too girly or something ridiculous.

Seeing the German SWAT Team (or maybe GSG 9) in the trailer. I wonder if Zemo has some kind of connection to the German Government.

You mean in terms of his look?

'Murica :o

I mean as long as hes a villain, who cares what he looks like? No purple ski mask? so what?

I love Sebastian (it's probably a fight between me and Suzanne on who's the bigger Seb fan :oldrazz:), but he's not a big enough star to have that pull/weight - especially not at the time that he signed his contract. At the level he was/is, the 9 picture deal is far more likely to be in Marvel's favor. It's so that they have the options there... it's not necessarily a guarantee that they *have* to use him that many times.

I WILL FITE YOU FOR SEBBY!!!

Agreed, that Steve in prison is not exactly going out on a high note (until he reappears in Infinity Wars) but it's better than being dead. I'm hoping for an even better alternative though.

Capwolf or bust.

Same. Anyone notice people like Vision and Agent...whats her face aren't in the fights? I think they'll be nuetrail. Well at least Vision. Vision seems lik the kinda guy who wouldnt wanna get wrapped up in this. Ant Man isnt in it either.

and for the record HIGHLANDER RULES. One of my fave 80s movies
