Comics The Official COLOSSUS Discussion Thread

I wonder if Kitty dying would cause a character change in ol' Petey. I've always liked him as the gentle giant who'd only smash your face in if he had to(ex. Proteus) but it'd be nice to see him flip the F out and be angry for a few months. Not angsty like Rogue cuz that would be stupid.

last time he got all upset over someone he loved dying..he turned evil. lts see what happens this time

i want him to get soo pissed he challenges Hulk to a fight....i just wanna see how long he'd last

Agree Pete wouldn't turn bona fide evil, but he *has* a history of *really* enjoying to beat the f**k out people.

Lab thugs and fake Shaw in AXM, anyone? :woot:

Him slaughtering powerlords where they stand doesn't seem much of a stretch, really.

And I'll be damned if that doesn't sound as one of the coolest things ever. :woot:

Colossus never turned evil

whatever. he crossed over to the dark side and embraced his inner sith. when you join up with the bad guys, you cant really still fight the good fight, on the surface anyway **cough*tessa/sage* cough**. so by my accounts. he was evil.

simply allying oneself with the other side does not make one a villian. Colossus choosing to be an Acolyte was alot deeper than what it appeared to be on the surface. He lost faith in Xavier's dream after blindly following him for years. Illyana's death sparked something in him to start thinking for himself and go out there and see things from a different angle to try and make sense of things. Go back and read his issues as an Acolyte. Colossus still had a conscience, a heart, compassion and forgiveness. He did not agree with their methods and he openly opposed them and didnt blindly follow in their footsteps. He wasnt out there fighting alongside them in their attacks and causing mayhem. Even when he left the X-men, he still helped them. When they stormed Avalon in order to get to Magneto, he turned off the security cameras and did not alert anyone about the assault. After Xavier mindwiped Mags, Piotr could have stopped the team and gotten the other Acolytes to apprehend them but he didnt. Instead he got them help in the form of relaying a message back to the mansion to send the blackbird to pick them up. The main reason why he stayed up there was for penance bc he felt responsible for what had happened to Magneto. Does any of this sounds like the actions of a man who is evil? He didnt even oppose the X-men. He simply did not want to be a part of the group anymore. bc he lost faith in what they were fighting for

i know he did that. i have the issues. it was during my dia hard collecting days..up to 12 freaking books a month. but losing fath in the dream is one thing. going off with orichimaru..i mean the bad guys is another. that in itself was evil. he helped the x-men as a form of redemption, b/c he knew going with the sworn enemy was a bad idea and i hurt the only family he had left.

Id say him leaving with Magneto was him being confused, lost and or misguided than evil. His reasons for doing so were never malicious. I think Ecalibur 75 really highlights it all well. He really was messed up after Illyana died and joining the Acolytes and staying with them was a way to help others the way he couldnt help her. He wanted to show them that there was more to violence and war and that they had the same vision as Xavier. He wanted to help change them and their ways. He just felt that those that followed Xavier havent really done as much as they could for mutantkind. He told Xavier that he didnt blame him for anything and was grateful for all he had done and in the end Xavier understood and respected him for that

collossus rocks hard!

I also remember Peter making a comment about believing in something. I don't remember the exact quote, but he said that he was raised an athiest and that Xavier taught him about faith in something greater. Peter may have started out an athiest, but his behavior has always been the most Christian-like along with Kurt. I guess that is why the two are best friends. I also agree with Whedon's statement about Peter that he is the Steve Rogers of the X-men; he's not the quickest to anger, but when you do he can be as dangerous if not more than anyone. Which also puts him in the same light as another famous "Man of Steel!":woot:
I am not made of steel;
I....
am made...
of RAGE! (I just had to add that.):yay:

I would be majorly disappointed if they had Colossus turn on his teammates. It is understandable what he did with Magneto and all after the death of his beloved sister - but to do that again would cheapen the concept. I hope Kitty or Pete do not bite the big one, but if one of them do, I hope the writers will make the survior stonger - and not weaker.

Yep that quote happened in Ecalibur 75

I actually really liked that period of time where Colossus was an Acolyte. For one, it showed that the X-Men could still get messed up, and the status quo wasn't always as sacred. Besides that, it really deepened his character.

^Yeah, that was done well. But it would just be weird trying to do it all over again.

I'm not a fan of any good guy turning bad. ever. ESPECIALLY when it the hero's own choice and they arent being brainwashed or controlled. it never makes sense, no matter what has happened, there is never a viable reason to become a villain after fighting against them for years at a time.

Pretty much, unless it's part of a double-agent scenario.

While it did give Pete something to do, it did have that 'Wait, WHAT???' vibe imo.
