Comics The Official COLOSSUS Discussion Thread

COLOSSUS is indeed a tough bastard. Got some questions:

1. What if Colossus is severely wounded in human form? Will he just turn into steel form, then the wound goes away when he turns back to human form? Is there any comic that this happened?

2.What if any of his limbs got cut off while in human form?

3.What if he's impaled while in human form?

4.Just curious, whose idea in Marvel Comics to make him gay in Ultimate universe?

Not sure for #4, but Pete did get impaled and badly hurt in AXM #9.

He didn't just turn into steel form only to be fine moments later. I'm fairly certain the same reasonining would apply to severed limbs.

He'd die if the wound were bad enough. He wouldn't armor up.

2.What if any of his limbs got cut off while in human form?

He'd be minus those limbs

3.What if he's impaled while in human form?

He'd be impaled and die lol

No idea

Pete's armor has no regenerative properties. If he's injured in his human form......sucks for him.

Dunno, Colossus is in the 100 Ton along with a bunch of other people. Ranking all the 100s is really open for debate.

And considering how little powerhouses he's fought ever since his comeback, odds are he'd lose a few ranks just for that. Huh.

yeah. thats why he was close to the bottom of the pole...maybe he should go whip on rockslide for a minute or too, just to show he's still pretty strong, not saying rockslide IS a challenge..but he's there and convenient to get to

Actually, I find the brat annoying. Taking on the Hulk? When disillusions of grandeur go ******ED.

Seriously, have Pete beat the f**k out of the kid to shut him up.

yeah..i used to like Rockslide...when i thought he was latino..now that he is Italian..not so much..i do like his look though. i wish he were thing and alicia master's kid

Why?

cuz, the way he was written felt spanish to me, gave me someone to relate too...then it was snatched away. understand now? i still like the character tho

I felt the same way when I found out the "I cry when you litter" Indian was Italian IRL.

Rockslide was always Italian. Thats how the creators intended him to be

Colossus has had more battles with top tier powerhouses when he was a teen-ager than now. (Let's hope that will change.) He is refered to many times as one of the most powerful beings on the planet. Take a look at Uncanny #102 and #137; he takes on Juggernaut and Gladiator respectively. He may not have won , but he held his own alright. Not bad for a kid. I remember reading in an interview with Claremont that in the beginning Colossus related to Storm so well because she could relate to what is was like for him to have such extreme power and to have to control it.
I just want to add this, way back in Uncanny #95 the Blackbird was blown up in midair and they had to get safely to the ground, Colossus just dive bombed back to Earth and was standing in a huge crater like it was no big deal. That's still one of my favorite Colossus moments.

How is it difficult for Colossus to control his power? I mean... he only has his strength when he's armored up, right? And he'd only armor up if it was time to lay the smackdown on someone. So unless he has a hard time alternating back and forth I don't get the argument.

Besides, anytime Claremont talks about Storm you shouldn't read much into what he says... It's all skewed and full of Mary Sue worship.

Claremont's insane. In his book, every character has issues with control and it makes them all that much deeper.

But for some reason, it makes Cyke an a$$hole. Him alone at that. :woot:

Amen.

Well, it's been shown that armoring up leaves Colossus relatively emotionless, so an argument can be made that that is pretty hard to deal with.

Why? He's only in armor form when he needs to throwdown, right? Otherwise he's normal, shy, quiet Pete.

Eh. Of all the X-Men out there, I'd say he has one of the easiest powers to control.

I think you're missing the point. It doesn't mean he can't control his transformation, it means that in battle he tends to hold back for fear of killing his opponent with his immense strength. There was a period of time after he recovered from injuries sustained in the Mutant Massacre (Uncanny #225) where his powers increased dramatically. He was trapped in armored form and he was having a problem where he was breaking everything and was afraid to touch anyone and he became a lot more impervious to physical harm.

Our bad, but one can't exactly blame us for assuming you meant more than then mere restraint. Pete having to deal with his might & temper never was novelty. EVERY melee powerhouse has that very same struggle. Hell, Ben Grimm and Hulk, anyone?

That, and comparing Pete's plight to Storm, an almost Omega powerwise, is rather silly... :wow:

I maintain my stand on CC being insane/delusional. :D

Yep. I mean, okay, so Colossus has to restrain himself from killing bad guys. Not much of a big deal when you compare it to the mutants out there that have to control their power for fear of killing the WORLD.
