The Official Contest of Marvels 3 Discussion Thread

Oh man! I was looking forward to my matches next week, and saw Thread 1 is going to be almost barren of debates. Only my and Hellstormer's match will be going on, as the other three are all 2 characters owned by the same person. (Franklin has Darkstar and Karnak, JH has Demogoblin and Vincente, and Harlekin has Baron Blood and Songbird.)

I thought of something that hasn't come up before. JH and Harlekin will both have to pick characters that will face one another next week. Now, whoever picks first will have a slight advantage over the other; because they'll get to see which of their characters can exploit the other's weaknesses.

I'm thinking we might have to have the following solution. JH and Harlekin will both PM me their choice of who they want to advance by the time voting is over for that week, and this way neither will know what the other is picking.

Sounds good.

Funny, after two seasons, you'd think we come across that situation at least once before.

I would like it confirmed that prep time does not take place on the battlefield.

Where then? Where do people start? I thought that people could access files of the locale and get info for preptime.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

People start their 24 hour prep-time wherever it is natural for them and they can go anywhere they would typically go, it's pretty open. Unless that week's location is normal for them, they can't go there (and though it's never been stated, I kinda assume they don't even know where the battle is going to take place). And even if it IS a normal location for them, they can't do anything to alter it (like set traps, etc.)

Then when the actual battle starts... POOF they both appear in the location ready to go.

Well then Sue knows everything about every enemy she is about to face. She can go look into alternate dimensions via Reed's lab and files and find out about just about everybody.

Thanks for clearing that up. :D

Oh and she can bring some equipment too. Sweet.

Can't wait for Reed's match now.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

Keep in mind, all she gets info-wise on an opponant is a name and picture. It'll take a lot for her to figure out exactly which time and dimension someone is from :)

And she can bring equipment that she can carry and would normally be used by her (not just the FF). Yeah, now REED.... he's scarey to face for that reason. He even has 24 hours to build something if he knows his opponant.

Ok, my take on this, just for clarification.

A character gets a picture, name, and location. It's up to them what information they can get; but, they cannot get any information for other people. (Don't ask me how this works in their time with 24 hours...but, it's just something we made sure to include.)

Now, a character cannot use any items they wouldn't normally have access to or information about. For example, Thing would not know about all of Reed's devices and such, and wouldn't be able to use them in battle. (The rule is generally show where that character has used the device in comics before, then it can be allowed.) Or, a student at the X-Men's school wouldn't have access to their database.

If there are any questions about what someone can use, you can always ask Wieg, JH, or me. We'll do our best to reach a fair decision.

Is info revealed in The Illuminati admissible in this contest? It was right before Secret Invasion.

The Illuminati is admissable; but, again, in regards to Sue, you have to prove that she would have the information that Reed kept from her. As I said, simply show where that is shown in a comic, and it should be allowed. Just be careful when you try and have Sue do things that are done by other F4 members and she's not the one with the knowledge.

Ok, opening debates have all been put up, from what I can see. The only match that needs a mention is who Hellstormer will want to advance; and, it should be easier to know, as he'll face Brother Voodoo after Franklin conceded that match.

Gotcha. Ok, so we have seen than 24 hours for debates. Think about closing arguments if you can. I will probably do that right now. (Ideally, I think it's fair that if you make a closing argument, you don't quote a previous rebuttal. If there is something you want to argue, it's probably best to continue your rebuttals. Closing arguments should be just that, you bringing the final facts to the readers. Also, if someone beats me to a closing argument, I'll try and not have mine then just be a rebuttal of theirs.)

How in the heck has JH gotten more posts than me in this thread?!!?? I can see I'm going to have to BS my way to the top, like he does.

I just like the sight of my own voice more than you I suppose. Now don't spam in our thread or I'll report you

Oh, man...I'm so backed up in my DVR with Heroes...I think there must be about 6 episodes.

Shows I've got on my DVR I need to watch:

Prison Break - I would have given up on this, but this is the final season. Last Friday, it just returned...but, I had 2 episodes before this new episode to watch.

Dollhouse - I've only watched the first episode...and, it was alright. I might just end up deleting these, though.

Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles - I'm really backed up on this. I watched all the shows, up until it went to Friday nights. I have about 8, I think..maybe less. I hear it's probably going to be cancelled, though, and these are the final episodes. That's ok...they've dropped entire storylines that were developing the first season, and always seem to be kind of wandering around.

Heroes - Just have seen three of the episodes from this second part of the season.

90210 - OK! Don't laugh..this is a real guilty pleasure. I only have two episodes of this to watch after todays episode records. I do keep up on this one nicely.

In Treatment - Five episodes come out each week on HBO. I loved the first season, and usually watch each 30 minute episode on the weekend. SO, I only have 5 on the DVR.

My shows I watch pretty much right away, or within a day or two, that are currently being aired: Amazing Race, Celebrity Apprentice, Greek, American Idol, Hell's Kitchen, Lost, Survivor.

Dollhouse - I've only watched the first episode...and, it was alright. I might just end up deleting these, though. Felt the same way with the first episode. Has gotten much better with each episode (and has one of the best fight scenes I've seen on tv).

But the last two or three episodes made my jaw drop.

Heroes - Just have seen three of the episodes from this second part of the season. There's been some good episodes lately.

I think every night has shows that I (record) watch. Mostly network stuff.

Lost on Wednesday
Smallville on Thursdays
The Tudors on Sunday.

That's it. Few Daily Show's here and there... and of course baseball.
