Ok, guys, I need a bit of help. If anyone can remember the following, let me know; so, I can update my records.

Who now owns Thing, previously owned by FranklinRichards?

Which character won the following matches?

Bracket ?, Night Thrasher-Donyell vs. Typhoid Mary?

Bracket 5, Puma vs. Moonstone?

Bracket 6, Growing Man vs. Rocket Racoon?

Bracket 8, Wolverine vs. Wild Thing?

Thanks...I think I know the answers to those four matches, but don't want to make a mistake.

Vanguard currently has 22 characters. It wasn't that long ago that he was around, and I still hold out hope he'll be back. I'll have to scroll back and see what his last message was to us.

So, we have two options:

1) I can disperse the remaining characters from Round 1, and hope he returns by Round 2.

2) I can disperse all the characters, hoping he returns to pick things back up.

3) This is a new idea, actually. We can disperse the characters. IF you debate a character of his, saving them from losing, you get to keep that character. When/if he returns, he gets all his characters that haven't been debated for. This way, if you put in your time with a character, you don't lose out on your time.

I kind of like that last one a lot.

Let me know, guys. Then, when we come up with an idea, I'll doll out the 22 remaining characters. (There is a good chance I won't take any of them. I have enough, at least in the early rounds of Round 2.)

It's not a bad idea but comes with problems.

- What if two people debate for that character? If someone puts in a starting debate, what happens if someone else comes around and tries to one-up them by trying to do a better one (not necessarily longer)? Who and how does it get decided on who gets the character?
- What if someone who is available on Fridays calls dibs on a character you want and puts in opening debates (small ones). Does this push others off on doing their own debate but may need more time or don't want to step on someone else's shoes?
- What if someone calls dibs and they don't do anything with it after all.
- What if someone gets greedy and debates all the matches?

etc.

I see more of a headache than it is worth.

We could do a draft and allow trades if someone likes your character he got better than theirs.

Well, there would be no "calling dibs" or anything. Basically, I'd disperse all 22 characters to you guys. Then, when Vanguard isn't busy (if he happens to return), he can have all his characters that are remaining, except those who have been successfully debated by one of us.

The tough part would be if Vanguard returns during a debating period. I would think this would be the protocal: If the person who now owns the character agrees to let him go to Vanguard, then it's ok. But, once debated, you own him.

How does that sound?

Yeah, it wasn't going to be a "free-for-all" for his remaining characters. He's got a great batch. Here are the ones I noticed:

Black Knight
Drax
Bishop
Blazing Skull
Albion
Ms. Marvel
Taskmaster
The Hood
Northstar
Black Tarantula
Hank Pym
Stegron
Spider-Exiles
Quicksilver
Thunderstrike
Daredevil
Agatha Harkness
War Machine
Sage
Hercules
Abomination
Sleepwalker

Ok, I took myself out of the running, even though there are about 6 characters I would have loved to get my hands on. Figure since I was doing the drawing, I should eliminate myself. I'll PM Vanguard, let him know he can get his characters back if he returns in time; and, we can determine which method of returning them as we discuss it this week. Maybe those with matches this week might want to wait a couple days before posting a debate, in case Vanguard says he can return to debate them.

Harlekin

Black Tarantula
Spider-Exiles
Northstar

Hellstormer

Bishop
Albion
Sleepwalker

Wiegeabo

I say, once the Debates May Begin post is posted, Vangaurd loses his characters for that week. Gives us a nice, unambiguous deadline.

Night Thrasher and Moonstone won I know. And I think Rocket Racoon and Wolverine won. I could be mistaken on those last two though.

that's what I was thinking, too.

I'm pretty sure on the rematch, Wolverine ended up kicking Wild Thing's butt.

We didn't specify so I guess it'd have to be the weaker version after he lost his extra mass prior to Messiah Complex. So his character just prior to his death in Messiah Complex. Hunting and experience but not the strength.

Also...

Midnight Ice had sent me a message saying that he completely forgot to vote and just thought about it as he was due to leave for work. He said that if there were any close matches then he'd be glad to vote to keep from ties and that he's sorry.

The matches are obviously closed but I just looked through them and saw the only close match was the tie between Random and I. I'll leave it up to you guys if you would be okay with Ice breaking the tie or if we do the debate since I'm involved in the match.

However, just for consideration... I don't mind either way. I hate doing rematches so I don't mind Ice voting late but I don't want to take that away from Random if he feels better about debating the rematch instead of leaving it in Ice's hands.

In regard to rules, since the rematch is already posted, it should stay that way. To change it would have to be agreed on by both parties. Random will just have to weigh whether he believes what would be a better advantage for him in a rematch, I guess.

BTW, since I might not get a chance to say it this weekend,

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

to all it applies to. (Who all has kids? JH does, but I'm not sure about the rest of you.)

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY BACK!!!

Any plans? As of now we don't have any but knowing my wife we'll do something small... or I just might get my choice of what to eat for dinner (after she turns the first couple options).

Oh, yes, I do.

My ex asked me about the kids on Father's Day, and I let her know she could take them to her parent's on Father's Day. This way, I get a nice, quiet day, and I'll probably go see a movie. To me, that's a pretty nice Father's Day.

I adjusted this week's match listings. The following people have additional matches this week:

RandomHavoc = The Hood

Midnight Ice = Sage

Hellstormer = Bishop

Good luck, everyone!!!

Phaed I choose Ronan btw. So Ronan vs Mantis...heh. First Ultimus now I have to drop another one of my good characters....sigh

Yeah, I saw that. It really stinks. If my Magneto and Master go on to the next round, I'll have to choose between them. They were both in my top 5, I think. (I purposefully had Magneto high up, possibly even #1. He kicked my butt so bad last season, I didn't want to face him again. Problem, I figured, solved.)

Well, I ended up seeing 3 movies this weekend already. Kevin really wanted to see Year One; so, I grabbed him and Wendy, and we went to the Drive-In. (Haven't been there since the 80's.) Wendy fell asleep halfway through the film, and Kevin decided to go to sleep after "Year One" was done. That was good, because I really wanted to see the second movie, "The Hangover." (It's rated R, and if the kids were going to be awake, I would have had to leave...at least Wendy.) Then, today I got to use a free movie ticket, and Wendy got to finally see "Land Of The Lost."

"Year One" is a very blatant rip-off of the Monty Python/Mel Brooks genre of movies....although, not as good. There were some funny moments; but, I'd recommend it more on DVD than seeing in the theaters.

"The Hangover" was pretty dang funny; although, I might have come away a bit disappointed, because it was so hyped, I don't think it quite lived up to it. Plus, it would have been nice to have the Mike Tyson scene be more of a surprise; but, they showed most of it on the preview.

"Land Of The Lost" was better than I thought. Kind of the opposite effect of "The Hangover," I was expecting garbage, and found myself liking it more because of that. The effects are cheesy, and I can't believe they spent so much money to make that. For a Matinee...and, a free adult ticket...it was very much worth it.

Hey guys,

I went down to Best Buy today, and was looking over phones. Now, I know absolutely nothing about blackberries, Iphones, ect.. My only phone is just your run-of-the-mill phone...it doesn't even have a camera built into it. Well, the gal I talked to pretty much talked me into getting nothing. (Seriously, the WORST salesperson I might have EVER met.)

See, I talk on my cellphone for about 10 minutes a week, if that. I don't text...EVER! But, it seems like everyone is enjoying their phones so much, I thought I might upgrade. (The sales person said I'd basically be paying about seventy bucks a month, just to talk for less than ten minutes.)

If I decide to upgrade, do you guys have any recommendations on stuff you think I'd find useful? Anything I should be asking about?

You know that is actually nice of her to talk you out of wasting your money if you don't use your cell phone often.

Why don't you just keep your older phone, which you pay less for, and get like an I-Touch. You get all the games, applications, internet access, and such without paying a monthly fee. Plus if you download Skype, you can even make phone calls with it to any phone number by buying a headset with speaking piece and paying a very small fee for minutes to Skype when you use it. I paid $15.00 like 5 months ago and I have only used about $5 and I have made long distance calls with it.

I got my very first cellphone in November. Then my wife washed it a few months later. So she gave me hers and bought herself a crappy one. Then I dropped it in a toilet while mopping at work 2 weeks ago. I bought a new one that Saturday. That Monday my mother-in-law came over to babysit and decided to do laundry. Yeah, she washed that one too.

I suggest finding a water proof cell phone, and then let me know where I can get one.

You, my good Phead, sound like you need a pay as you go plan.

My sister went with AT&T's Go phone. In my area there are three plans:
$3.00 per day, each day you use the phone, with free minutes
or $1.00 per day, each day you use the phone, 10 cents per minute
or 25 cents per minute (no daily costs).

You buy 'refills' for your plan, the minimum is $15 which expires in 30 days, the max $100 with expires in a year.

I think you can get almost any AT&T phone on the Go-phone plan, even an iPhone. But since there's no data package for Go-phone plans, there's no point in getting an iPhone. You're better off saving several hundred dollars and getting an iPod Touch like Powder said.

Invest in either a phone holder for your belt/wasteband, or pay for the insurance so they'll replace your phone when damaged.
