On a separate note, we should get the list of battleground setup now. Or are we keeping it a secret until each round of matches start?

Wow, I completely forgot about the battlegrounds. We probably should get those together. Hey Phaed, do you still have last year's battlegrounds? That could be a good starting point.

Yes, no numbers would be best.

And don't worry about taking the spaces out like we did last time. I think I've found a way to overcome that limitation. I'll start rewriting and testing the program tonight.

Cool. I'll start removing the numbers and divying up the Misc. Section. I'll have it ready by the time we start making our Draft Lists.

I usually make up the location list and the random match-ups after the characters are divided up.

Personally, I'm cool with the list the way it is. I have my reservations about Joseph, and I think it's best to figure we won't have characters with animals or such in the contest this season. If there isn't creatures in your local that you can control, then you cannot use them. Basically, if you can't carry the weapon you will be using on your person, then it won't come with you.

Since there's questions on Joseph we won't include him, and with no dogs, Dog Brother #1's a no go. I have no one else I'd want to add. Phaed doesn't want to change it. I guess it comes down to W. If he chooses not to make any changes as well then I guess we're ready to start recruiting people and start working on draft lists (as soon as I finish refining the list without numbers and Misc. divyed up).

The only one I remembered from previous seasons that I wanted was Constrictor. And he's in the Avengers section.

I'll take a quick look tonight, but at the moment I can't think of anyone I want to add or drop. I'll also try and remember to work on the drafting program tonight.

Also, we now have to go on a recruitment drive. We need at least 10 people, I think; but, ideally we'd want 15 or over, especially since we know people tend to drop out after things get going and they lose some of their favorite characters. I think 10 is a more realistic number, though, with the way The Hype has decreased in popularity since we first started the contest.

I was looking the FF section over and I think you'd best switch Frankie Raye with the Wizard.


Frankie is great but she was just a stopping point for the Nova character. And let's face it she wasn't that great at being a Human Torch. She couldn't nova blast and she couldn't flame on as high as Johnny.

The Wizard on the other hand has weaponized gadgets. One of his levitation discs alone are bad. Let's say you're Ronin and the Wizard gets a lev disc on your back. Orbit. Or one of his teleportation discs on... let's say Nightcrawler. He'll just keep portin even if he doesn't want to.


Anywho... The Wizard for Frankie Raye would be a logical switch.

Wizard or not, I'd rather have a well-defined and used character, than one without as much history. I've got no problem getting rid of Raye.

Both Frankie Raye and the Wizard area already approved to be in the tourney. And I have the numbers removed from the list and should finish sorting the Misc. characters today.

Also, I got ahold of Midnight Ice and he's interested in playing again. If you guys want to go ahead and start advertising that'd be great. I'll send out a few PM's. W... you can probably hit up some of the DTLers.

Well, I hit up the one guy I thought would be interested. He wasn't. He prefers the team aspect of the DTL as opposed to our one on one matches.

I'll try to drum up some other interest. Maybe we should hit up all those other VS threads.

While sorting the list I realized that we have X-51 in there twice. So I added Richter back in since he was the last one removed. I'm okay with adding in someone else if Richter's not good enough. I'm still rooting for Joseph myself

Yeah, this contest will do that to you. I love my fellow CoM buddies; but, I won't lie to you. There were times I was beyond pissed, simply because of a debate between characters. It's at that time I would have to remind myself to take a deep breath..or, maybe walk away for a day...before redebating.

When you build your list, take out the group headings. Only have the names of the characters. And don't change any names, just copy and paste or something to move them. The names have to match those in the original list exactly.

You should at least pm your list to me. But it's probably wise to copy Phaed and JH so they can also do a draft if necessary.

Just a thought, but if we don't have a number of players equal to a power of 2, how are we going to handle the extra characters?

Right now, with 11, everyone will start with 46 characters, and we'll have 6 left over.
